The Dive's Covid Thread

and swillow just complains about our conversations

this is why the Dive was created - so we can have our stupid conversations because you guys pushed us out of CEPS

he would know that if he was around for it all

Commenting on the quality of discussion and attacking arguments is vastly different than calling people names

Koch postulates
this would be like denying photons exist because they don't fit newton's laws of motion. we have newer methods that do work for viruses.

hypothesis
what hypothesis? the germ theory of disease? it's not a hypothesis, it's a theory.

makes little sense
your inability to understand it is not a good support of your conjecture. in fact, it is a fallacy known as a 'personal incredulity fallacy'
evolutionary theory struggles
really? how so? please elaborate with as much detail as possible, as evolution is a very fun subject for me. the longer your explanation (in your own words), the better.

How is it that a species of bacteria or fungi hasn't evolved to eat/clean up viruses
you should have googled it first

absolutely no 'motivation' at all, unlike all other living organisms.
u sure? u absolutely sure you're not an automaton? u sure paramecia have motivation? they don't have brains, afterall

trying to explain the origins of life/living organisms
the absolute origin of life is not needed for the theory of evolution to be water tight.

with that said, chemical evolution is a pretty compelling hypotheses, wouldn't you say? especially since amino acids apparently have quite the "motivation" to begin to exist, given the right conditions... demonstrated with plenty of experimental data.

____

what evidence can you provide that viruses don't exist and/ or don't cause disease?.

There is a lot of misinformation out there. I have read anti-covid vaxxxers or people who are against all covid vaccines claim that most or all vaccines, not for covid but for everything are now MRNA and this is not true.

It's certainly been replicated and expanded upon since the first 1953 experiment. That the discussion is now the likely locations (oceans, alkali salt flats, geothermal vents and so on) indicates that the oft-repeated experiments can render slightly different results depending on the location.

RNA is the simpler process and since it can carry a genome, replicate AND act as an enzyme makes it a reasonable candidate. The smallest RNA genome we know of is about 1.7k but it would be fascinating to know if it's possible to calculate the minima. The smallest segment known to produce a protein is just 10 bases long.

Obviously the odds against that exact 1.7k being produced is huge, but given billions of years, it's not so unlikely.

Which one - the disinfectant or the ivermectin? I'm not sure if anyone was QUITE dumb enough to try the former but I read the latter killed a few US citizens and the one nation that tried it ended up with the world's highest covid mortality rate.

Yup the trump vaxx killed a ton of people. What particular part of his pitch ended up selling you on taking it?
