Media Bias Thread

I hate to use the word establishment, because @Dropperneck is a stupid little retarded neo bitch soyboy, but they certainly know how to use the media to stir proletarian drama. False consciousness.

Keep them outraged at what the other side is doing, and they won't question anything else.

Trans people? Dude, who gives a fuck. That's like 0.0001% of people.. but 90% of what's discussed.

Doesn't make much sense....

Why is this strange?

White people can't grieve for black people?

right. it's like accusing someone of trying really hard to manufacture a racial angle when there is none by manufacturing a racial angle when there is none...

Until we can collaborate

what does that look like in practice?

e.g. a little while back i had some questions for you to try to better understand your position but you chose not to answer them.

how can we collaborate when even people stressing the importance of collaborating chose to not collaborate?

many could start by choosing to just answer the simplest of questions on their claims and statements without acting like they've been attacked.

i agree it's important.

I’m most cases I have explored and considered others views. I don’t recall exactly our conversation but in most cases I have explored others views and even changed my stance on certain issues afterwards in some circumstances. I do know that I didn’t turn aggressive or hostile tho right?

Bro ur literally a redditor with low t from booze and Kratom. You can just acknowledge that I’m right, this is what a man does.

First they tried (but ultimately failed) to gaslight the mainstream public into believing the half century old OK 👌, Victory ✌️ , and thumbs up 👍hand gestures were white supremacist dog whistles.

Then they tried to convince us that many commonly shared values, words, hairstyles, concepts, ideas, religious beliefs, policies, everyday habits, and even hobbies were all somehow evidence of an underlying conspiracy of white supremacist culture in America.

Finally, most recently they’ve begun to attack the very ideological foundations of the American Political Experiment itself. Attempting to either posthumously fear monger and/or historically retcon (propagandistic revisionism) the perceived origins of our classically liberal society to be of a more characteristically sinister nature. Great example being the historically illiterate and insultingly dishonest “1619 Project” which attempts to de facto vilify the entirety of the American cultural heritage and legacy by falsely asserting its primary basis as having been in the “preservation of slavery” from the British Empire’s abolitionist policies. Said abolitionist crusade by the British of which wouldn’t occur for at least another 30 years after the American Revolutionary War! Thus she essentially tries to rewrite the historical foundations of the early USA to be a misappropriated/misattributed version of the later aborted CSA’s origins!

TBH it is soooo hard to find a nuetral media source.

it's not that hard. and, also, one should watch/read sources that are biased in different directions as a spectrum of perspective is important and you can't really form your own balanced opinion unless you do...

It seems like we all just end up watching the news channel that regurgitates our sides views on things.

we all? speak for yourself. really.

i hear this leveled at people in here all the time and, in my experience, it's just not true.

^ really? i'm not sure i understand but, if you think i am saying he's 'wrong' then perhaps i didn't make my point clearly enough or perhaps you misunderstood.

in so many of the issues we discuss here in cep&s, it's not a case of right and wrong - just a different perspective or opinion. that said, there are, demonstrably, a vocal few here in this forum who feel that, if you disaree with them you are wrong. and stupid. and an unthinking sheep.

i have never thought that way and, thankfully, nor do the majority of posters here, regardless of which way they lean.

sure. except you quoted my post in your message which normally indicates that you're replying directly to that message.

if it was a more general observation of many messages, it's confusing that you quoted only mine.

I have explored views on here that originally I didn’t agree with but then after exploring in a genuine way I did change my view on a subject or two. Some I didn’t change my mind on but that was still after considering the other persons view. So I know it’s possible. Just doesn’t help when it seems like the powers that be want us to hate the other side.

Word, your whole post I quoted part of was great, so cheers. :) But I resonated with this part the most. This has been my experience with this subforum, as well. When I started coming here, I was more or less in an echo chamber, as so many of us are, in my life. Almost all of my friends and family are liberal-leaning, and that has always been the case for me. I had very little understanding of how someone could have arrived at the conclusions that people on the right do, it seemed like madness, like they must just be dumb. I was never so lazy as to believe that everyone on the right is an evil racist or anything, but I did tend to see them as, at the very least, brainwashed and perhaps I had some amount of thinking they might, by and large, be rather dumb.

Over the years, though, I have had so many great discussions with people on here, and made friends, even if sometimes my friends can make me feel frustrated or upset with their views. I can't even tell you how much I have grown as a person and learned about what goes into someone holding beliefs that I do not share. And there have been several topics that I have revised my own stance on in important ways. One of those is the response to covid and the vaccines, I went from thinking it wouldn't be a bad thing if we forced everyone to get vaccinated, to strongly believing it should be everyone's own choice, and also believing that the whole vaccine push has become a blatant money grab which accomplishes nothing again Omicron, and may even have disturbing negative health ramifications. That's the most recent one, but there have been others, too.

I really do try my hardest to try to understand everyones' point of view and give everyone the respect of assuming they are coming from a place of believing in the rightness of the positions they hold, the same as I do. Especially in these times, it is so easy to jump on the bandwagon of hate and just paint the half of the population that isn't part of your political tribe as stupid/evil/not worthy of respect. The greatest thing I have gotten from this forum is the ability to realize in a visceral way that that kind of attitude is not only lazy and rude, but it is also destructive to society. Treating each other with disdain and disrespect as a default is the way that we will find ourselves in a society that has fallen apart, and likely eventually, in a civil ar. Other than the sociopaths among us, who are the actual enemy, we are all the same... we love our family and friends, we fear for them, and want what is best for them. I'm certainly not perfect, and I sometimes let people get under my skin here, but it's so much easier to remember these days that if I ran into pretty much anyone here (and not just here, but anywhere in America or indeed the world), we would very likely have a polite and pleasant interaction. The guy I might feel frustrated or angry at, is a decent person, worthy of respect.

I also just wanted to say, I really appreciate your contributions here, @Juicewrldfan . You treat everyone with respect and are willing to engage in civil discourse with people, even when people bait you. I wanted to let you know that I see that, and I appreciate it. :)

Ugh, I listen to NPR in the car a lot, but sometimes they have some really asanine stuff, which this is a perfect example of. I wish they'd focus less on identity politics, although I think they do a better job of being professional than most everyone else in the news/reporting business, and I love a lot of what they have on their programs.

Another really aggravating segment I heard a while back was on one of their food shows, they had a guest who was pushing the idea that we need to eliminate the racism in our food choices. She was trying to claim that if you cook food that isn't the food your ancestors cooked, you're racist because you're culturally appropriating. Like I'm white, and if I cook Indian food, I'm being racist and causing harm to Indian people. Thankfully, the hosts of the show did not agree and were trying to argue against it, but yeah, that's insane. Me cooking Indian food is me celebrating and appreciating another culture's food, which I respect, admire, and love because it's amazing! Culture is a melting pot. Cultural appropriation is when you profit off of another culture's traditions/inventions/etc, by stealing it and marketing it without their permission and none of that profit goes to the people of that culture. Cooking another culture's food, or playing/enjoying anther culture's music, or whatever, is just what happens when cultures meet and coexist. And now that we're connected worldwide to each other, the whole world is mixing. I'm quite sure that no Indian people have ever been hurt when I cooked some of their dishes, and in fact if I found out someone was cooking my food, I'd be honored and happy other people appreciated it. And if there is anyone who feels oppressed because someone is cooking their culture's food and enjoying it at home, I would suggest to them that they should quit letting the media implant harmful ideas in their head.

Walking in any downtown center or a major city while white is one of the most dangerous things you can do in the country, statistically. Yet their is the fictitious narrative in the media that blacks are in danger from whites, when it’s a complete fabrication, statistically.
It is not only a danger for whites, but for everyone of every race/ethnicity.

I found this recipe. It seems delucious. I have never cooked it as I don't have all of the ingredients, and I cut back on buying beef unless it is on sale.

Carne Asada Marinade

1.5-2 lbs beef flap meat or skirt steak
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup Negro Modelo
2 Tb sherry vinegar
juice of 1 lime
1/2 medium onion
6 cloves garlic
1 chipotle en adobo
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp fresh cracked black pepper
1 tsp whole cumin seeds, toasted, crushed
1 tsp New Mexico red chile powder, mild
1 tsp whole Mexican oregano, crushed
Clean meat of all tendon. Puree all other ingredients. Marinade meat for 4 hours or overnight. Grill, chop and serve in tacos. You can pan sear it in a very hot, heavy skillet such as a cast iron skillet.

Warm some manufactured corn tortillas on a dry skillet. Tacos are double layered tortillas. Fill with carne asada, then garnish with chopped white onion, chopped cilantro and sliced radishes. Squeeze on some fresh lime juice, then top with salsa verde.
