Mental Health Coming off Invega (Paliperidone, Xeplion) injections v 6.0

@Serhat96 paliperidone also has long and strong effects on receptors because of its forceful molecular structure and size+mass which is much larger than dopamine neurotransmitters. Size and mass of paliperione is not for what receptors proteins are made to handle with no friction which does cause change on shape or conformation of the proteins. Do you want more evidence?
Yes please if you don't mind

Really? When i was in the psych ward and on invega my mom brought me in clonazepam and i felt it no problem. In fact since my tolerance was way down i felt it more
Yeah, although I was on five other meds that all had black box warnings, one of them was wellbutrin which has stimulant effects to it which probably conteracted the Xanax & it made the invega side effects even worse, they only gave me 0.5 of Xanax and I’ve taken up to 3mg at once before so I kinda have a tolerance so maybe if i had a higher dose and I wasn’t on wellbutrin I would have felt it.

There are several ways to potentially speed up the recovery of dopamine receptors after taking antipsychotics. Some strategies include:

  1. Gradually reducing the dose of the antipsychotic medication under the guidance of a healthcare provider. This can help to minimize withdrawal symptoms and allow the brain to gradually adjust to changes in dopamine activity.
  2. Engaging in regular exercise, which has been shown to increase dopamine release and promote the growth of new dopamine receptors.
  3. Eating a healthy, balanced diet that includes foods rich in vitamins and minerals that support brain health. For example, foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, and antioxidants may be beneficial.
  4. Engaging in activities that promote mental stimulation and social connection, such as reading, learning a new skill, or spending time with friends and family.
  5. Talking to a mental health professional about additional strategies that may be helpful for your specific situation.
I know you're trying to be helpful, but other than the first strategy, which is so obvious and seemingly mandatory as to be silly to mention (of course you would discontinue the cause of the problem and the cause of the severe injury in the first place!), the other suggestions aren't very helpful, because to my knowledge, they have never been proven to treat or cure paliperidone induced or antipsychotic induced depression and sexual dysfunction. As I said, from every piece of evidence I have found, the only thing that leads to recovery from paliperidone-induced depression and sexual dysfunction is discontinuing the offending medication and waiting on father time and the body to heal on its own and it is not known how the body does this and no factors whatsoever have been definitely identified in this recovery, besides discontinuing the offending medication, father time and being alive.

Again, if anyone has any evidence that any factor is proven to be helpful or even anecdotally helpful, or any evidence that any treatment/medicine helps to alleviate symptoms, treat the problem and even cure it, I'm all ears. I've only heard vague speculation from people who recovered.

I'm 16 months straight with this problem of severe paliperidone induced depression and sexual dysfunction, with no improvements and I've long discontinued paliperidone (~15 months), I've discontinued abilify for over 5 months, I've tried tons of antidepressants, two sexual dysfunction medications and I've tried all kinds of lifestyle measures, including and beyond those you've discussed. I've also talked with countless doctors and mental health providers and contacted over 200 psychiatrists around the world. Nothing has worked for me, all the medications I mentioned caused yet more side effects, suffering and long-term injuries and no scientist, doctor, researcher or mental health professional knows of an answer nor are they making any effort to find one!

The best bet is to persuade, as I've mentioned before, our nation and the world's best and brightest and its resources to formally research a treatment/cure for this problem and also other injuries from antipsychotics and even antidepressants--I am continually working on this.

That’s bs, all those other things mentioned would help speed up recovery.

That’s bs, all those other things mentioned would help speed up recovery.
I don't think what I said is bs at all. All four of the suggestions (after the first one) did not work for me and I tried them all. There are surely many people who have never recovered who have also tried these things without effect.

There is no scientific proof those four suggestions help in the case of antipsychotic induced depression and sexual dysfunction.

For people who have anecdotally claimed such suggestions have helped them recover faster, I believe it is mere coincidence and misattribution--these individuals just happened to recover with some quickness, between 3-12 months. Being off the offending medication and waiting on time and the body to heal was the true reason and not any particular suggestion, like exercise, healthy diet, mental and social stimulation and activity or talking to mental health professionals about additional strategies. Most of the arguments otherwise seem to me simply too vague, although if you wanted to point me to particular claims and posts I'll re-examine them. If you insist in your case, for instance, that any of those things--exercise, healthy diet, mental and social stimulation/activity and talking to mental health professions about additional strategies helped you, could you summarize why? How long did you have paliperidone induced depression and sexual dysfunction, and when were you doing these things, when did you notice they were starting to help (while you had the drug induced problems), etc?

Thanks

I was on invega for 3 months and abilify for 18+ months and have recovered fully so you can to. I was not exactly a good boy during recovery either as i was doing alot of coke at first. Even my attension span has come back now that i switched to zyprexa

I don’t know if this is just a window or not but I feel really good right now, I took a long walk and the sunset is beautiful the birds are chirping too and I can actually feel the vibe of this nice night and it’s bussin I feel almost 100% recovered 😌, life is good light is at the end of the tunnel you guys will get better eventually.
I lost hope i dont feel its ever getting better

I appreciate your support and sentiments. How long did it take for you to recover, both from the time your paliperidone-induced depression and sexual dysfunction started and from the time you discontinued paliperidone? Did your recovery come in increments, that is, did you notice improvements along the way before full recovery? I am worried because I have not made any improvements in 16 months, and 15 months post-discontinuation of paliperidone and I know of no case where someone like me ended up recovering fully or recovering at all. I certainly am glad for all people who recover and those stories are encouraging, although it would be more encouraging if people with the long-term issues were to miraculously recover.

I recovered my sex drive and from anhedonia after about 3 months on latuda. But my attention span didnt fully come back until i switched to zyprexa just 3 months ago.

1: Invega Sustenna tapers on its own, withdrawals are very mild compared to changes, damage and side-effects it causes for a long periods of time.
2: I engage in regular exercise including going to gym and daily walks since I went off the Invega (Sustenna).
3: I have balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals which supports brain health. I take omega-3 fatty-aids and vitamin B suppmenets in recommended doses. All that I have been doing from first day I went off the Invega.
4: I engage in reading, learing new skills and languages and I spend daily time with family and go to activities with friends.
5: I consulted with mental health professional and he only could perscribe anti-depressants which are proven to not work because Invega counters their effect.(references: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK531489/, "Principles of Pharmacology: The Pathophysiologic Basis of Drug Therapy" by David E. I am 654 days off and not recovered, still suffering from anhedonia, emotional numbness and occasional akathisia.

1 year and 1 month out... Off of 4 shots, but got really fucked up by 3 and 4.. I'd say I'm recovered. Lost body fat, sex drive is high asf, sexual functions are back. Hair coming in darker, beard coming in fuller and more hair emotions came back. I'd say I'm at 95-97% and really got way better between these last two months and I'm continuing to feel better each day feeling like I have more testosterone. Strength came back as well. Also I'm waking up with strong morning wood as well. Invega took away close to 9 months of my life, I started feeling better at around 10 months. I have all my hobbies and interest back and no more andehnioa or whatever u call it. And I recently just got hired for a new job today! I was like all of you! mindlessly scrolling this piece of shit website wishing to get better while not doing shit with my life on my bed letting time pass by! You guys can do this you guys have to believe! This is a waiting game please stay strong and don’t give up! I wanted to give up too but I didn’t !!! Peace out this is my last post here , please feel free to reach out!!
Time off is counted since you taken last shot so it is 10 months off for you, yes?

Yes please if you don't mind

you taking shrooms every 3nd day? if so that might be the reason

Im pity sure I was put on the same dose as you

So the obesity was from abilify, which I took twice. First, around 2011-2013, wherein I gained the weight in late 2012. I was only on abilify and fluoxetine in that time and then on no psychiatric drugs whatsoever until July 2021, or a period of 8 years. For those 8 years, even though I was obese, I didn't have problems exercising and in fact, did tons of it, enjoying it and benefiting from it (with the exception of losing weight). In those eight years, I exercised and dieted religiously: running, sprinting, weight lifting, yoga, team sports, dog walking, housekeeping, cooking, you name it, every single day, in addition to working jobs where I often was standing for long periods of the day and sometimes doing manual labor. I often did bouts of vegetarianism, sometimes did one day food fasts, sometimes did bouts of raw veganism, and ate really healthy in general, covering all bases: omega 3s from fish, plenty of fiber and grains, leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, home cooked food with fresh produce, salads, nuts, eggs, occasional red meat, adequate protein, vitamins, minerals, etc. I was unable to lose the majority of the weight.

After my paliperidone induced permanent, incurable, untreatable depression and sexual dysfunction that has gone on since December 2021, I have not been able to exercise much at all nor eat as healthy as I used to. I've been off any antipsychotics (I was on abilify from Jan 2022 to Oct 2022 and gained weight, yet again, in Fall 2022) since the end of October 2022 and all antidepressants since the end of December 2022. Those previous 8 years I mentioned, from roughly 2013-2021 were proof positive that exercising and diet do not work for the abilify-induced permanent, irreversible, incurable, untreatable weight gain. I was doing such intensive exercise actually for most of my life before 2013, so it's more than 8 years, but it was 8 years while I was not on any psychiatric drugs.

Now, I didn't maintain a 1200 calorie a day or less diet for any considerable period of time, except sometimes during extended stays at a Raw Vegan Institute, typically for 1-3 weeks.
1200 calories a day or less is pretty low, especially if one is exercising a ton. Obviously, very harsh measures starting to approach quasi-starvation could work for weight loss but would be inhumane and could have negative health consequences. Most normally functioning people should be able to lose massive amounts of weight and/or at least achieve a normal, non-overweight BMI with heavy exercise and reasonable dieting. At any rate, a 1200 calorie a day diet was only possible pre-paliperidone. Now, my faculties and strength are so destroyed (including religious faculties important to my ability to fast and diet), in addition to all the health problems and psychiatric drug injuries I've mentioned, that such a restrictive diet of 1200 calories a day or less is really not practical.

I appreciate your input but I think my weight loss (from obesity to overweight and ultimately to normal weight) is a lost cause unless a treatment/cure is found for antipsychotic-induced injuries. All antipsychotic and antidepressant induced injuries should come from their effects and possible damage on neurochemistry receptors. How this translates into permanent, irreversible, untreatable, incurable obesity and weight gain is an interesting question which seems almost unsolvable for the time being--perhaps it damages subcortical structures in the brain responsible for regulating metabolism, but this raises more questions than it answers! Besides my weight, there have never been indicators of an abnormal metabolism: I wasn't really eating more than normal and I was exercising heavily and eating healthy the first time I gained weight from abilify and to my knowledge, my health readings were all normal. Even now, my health readings are normal across many parameters: blood lipids, thyroids, other blood measurements, hormones, although I have elevated liver enzymes and an allergic reaction in my esophagus. The second time I gained weight from abilify, I was of course not exercising but I still was eating normally.
APs did terrible things to my throat. Pains and weird involuntary sounds.

You sound like an extreme example.

I recovered my sex drive and from anhedonia after about 3 months on latuda. But my attention span didnt fully come back until i switched to zyprexa just 3 months ago.
So that means you went off paliperidone and started taking latuda? And did you go off paliperidone immediately after the paliperidone-induced depression and sexual dysfunction started? I'm trying to figure out how long you had the problem for and how long it lasted, additionally, after discontinuing paliperidone. It sounds like you made nearly a full recovery in 3-4 months of experiencing the problem, and your attention span fully recovered 6-7 months after the problem first appeared?
