I just want to convey to you that connecting with a nation spiritually, and identifying with a nation, means you have to accept said nation's mistakes, even if they weren't your family's mistakes.
Also if you stayed 100% Italian over 130 years, I'm calling incest, but I really doubt that.

Your people ate the Mediterranean for breakfast, you should know slavery, and that it shouldn't be repeated.
And that all people living in wealthy countries are profitting from something very close to slavery (i.e "outsourcing") you know that too.
