Elon Musk officially buys Twitter, DONE DEAL !

@Conspiracy theorists are elons latest controversial opinions re ukraine & taiwan part of his latest ploy to avoid buying twitter?
Given his dealings with the DoD and Pentagon I wouldn't trust anything that comes out of his mouth, but that's just my personal policy of not trusting anyone associated with the military industrial complex.

Who knows. He called that scuba diver a nonce and named his child some wacko shit, so his use of the English language is questionable on its own tbh.

Even for Elon standards I dont think we can expect him pulling another rabbit out of the hat.

It'll be done, congrats to the ones that won 👍54$ per share lmao

Yeah TWTR stock just got really active right now. Looks like confidence that the deal is getting done

I'd play the gap to $54 but I put my TWTR money in MDGL for phase 3 NASH liver data by the end of the year, and I'm already up more than I would've gained on TWTR arbitrage

Yeah I'd never invest in Twitter as a business, it was just a bet that it would actually get bought at 54 and the risk/reward at 38 was worth it, had more upside than downside

Has he actually bought it yet? I checked some news websites but nothing. I'm sure Twitter honchos are salivating at the prospect of a lovely payoff and leaving him with the bother of actually having to develop it as a platform.

Speaking of, Elon did mention trying to turn it into a kind of WeChat (all-in-one platform) for the West. I wonder how seriously he's going to pursue the idea.

Considering Musk has a reputation for over promising and under delivering, I guess we will see how it plays out.

How would this work exactly? He's gonna try to make better products than all those highly specialized apps we love in the West?
So, the Über, Google, Amazon, streaming service, WhatsApp.... all in one...

He can sure try, but given that he'll start off by firing thousands at Twitter, a company which doesn't make money, it's just words

He's just trying to spin this as a victory, he spent months banging on Twitter, desperately trying to get out of it, up until a couple weeks ago but suddenly the revolutionary idea of the everything app hit him.

Oh fuck, I'll have to buy it, guess I'll settle for completely revolutionizing the whole tech industry now.

I think with how much he's worth, it's difficult to find somewhere to get growth that will keep his wealth increasing, so he sees other social media companies like FB and that Twitter has a fraction of the market cap, so it's one of the only places he can put that much money into and still have a lot of potential growth, especially since FB market cap sets a precedent. FB is like 9x Twitter right now, and that's after FB losing like ~60% from the highs

Sure I get that, but he spent half a year regretting it all terribly, having near meltdowns over it for a while, he was almost forced to a deposition and embarrassing personal conversations were shown to the public.
It's about saving some face, there's really no big plan for this and he's for sure not gonna be competing against all the giga tech corporations, he probably knows.

I don't think Twitter is a bad investment per se, as like a way to shape public opinion and quietly kill dissenting voices it has insane potential in the Western world, but I don't think it'll every truly work like that and people will just leave. And we'll see how profitable he'll be able to make it, because he's gonna need it for these plans.

Would be funny if he manages to double or triple it's valuation without it even becoming profitable, then sells it to a group of investment firms that take it public again

Just chiming in to say that having been a sometimes kind of on the fence half assed defender of some of Elon's antics on the basis of some of his company's achievements, I hereby yield entirely, can't even be bothered to think about him anymore, the amount of fucking absolute brainmeltingly stupid bullshit he keeps doing and saying day after day after day, guy is just a complete fucking liability. I know this is a little OT and not directly related to the Twitter thing but if this deal is happening now (as I say... tried to just stop even paying attention)... ah fuck it I just can't hope for a multibillion dollar company to fail even though that's what I just typed and then deleted. I dunno what I want to happen. Elon Musk just to stop talking, I think.

Yeah, the guy is a clown. He has really managed to reveal his true character in the past couple of years... I doubt he has a lot of fans remaining. He could have just stopped talking and he'd probably still have all sorts of fanboys. But like most narcissists (seems pretty clear to me that is what he is), he can't stop talking about himself.

Also, Musk came out and outright said if he gets Twitter, he will lay off 70% of the employees. I thought rich conservatives were the so called job creators. smfh

Yeah this was one of most anticipated developments regarding this issue for some commentators/Musk fans, the notion that Musk will finally be able to shitcan all of the blue-haired libtards who occupy the administrative and corporate positions at Twitter. That's the kind of thing that a lot of these folks are into, they're really into schadenfreude. Like oh man, can you just imagine how TRIGGERED these snowflakes will be when they're on the unemployment line? Ben Shapiro and co. are practically ready to bust out the lube at such a prospect

Its the realization almost everyone that pays some attention comes to at some point, he's always been like this.

My realization came when I watched one of his Rogan podcasts, it's painful to watch but if you pay some attention you'll know...
