Elon Musk officially buys Twitter, DONE DEAL !

Pretty good take about the Ben Collins tweet/thought

I agree with the sentiment, always hated the phrase "it's a private company", if he eventually takes over I guess there'll be a short media meltdown again but it'll be back to normal soon enough.

You think he's gonna let Trump back in? =D that'll be mayhem, I'd like to see it tbh. Imagine if he continues right where he left off, can we even handle any more ridiculousness

That's what I want to see, more hilarious Trump tweets. If he gets his account back he should congratulate Kim Jong on his weightloss by calling him "less fat" or something funny like that

I read an article today that talked about how Musk wants to create an American equivalent to the Chinese product WeChat, i.e. basically an app that you'd "do everything on", schedule appointments, access entertainment, conduct commercial life, etc.

Seemed like the classic capitalist dream, like an e-version of the "company town" or something

This was the article:

I thought about this and I think it wouldn't hit the same, not the president anymore...

He cracked me up countless times with some of the stuff he'd write on there, I laughed so hard at some of it...

But, at the same time, when he was finally banned from Twitter...I'm not gonna lie, it felt good, really good in fact. You might think that all you'd need to do to avoid Trump's tweets, as an American, would simply be not to log unto Twitter, or perhaps social media more generally. But you'd be wrong. Because he was the president, the news considered it their sworn duty to let you know about every braindead missive and utterance that his brain shat out. So you'd be checking out in the grocery store and your eyeline would pan to a newspaper headline that blared it out...you'd be in the car listening to the radio when some news break would cut in to inform you that he just said something dumb again, shocker right...it was like getting cornered day in and day out by your belligerent ignorant reactionary uncle or something, like sure he's funny on Thanksgiving when he's pissing the family off but do you want to listen to his "wisdom" every fucking day for years on end?

Now that he's not president anymore it'd probably be ok if they let him back on though. I think he said not long ago that he wasn't interested in coming back anymore, and that he was gonna make a go of it on "TruthSocial" (lol yeah right)

The billionaire’s lawyers said in an Oct. 3 SEC letter that Musk was willing to do the $54.20-per-share deal on its original terms “pending receipt of the proceeds of the debt financing.” The original deal didn’t contain such a contingency.
Musk is also seeking to reserve his rights to file a fraud suit over his claims the platform’s executives misled him and other investors about the number of spam and robot accounts among its more than 230 million users, according to one of the people, who asked not to be named discussing non-public matters.
And he continues struggling, buying time to at least get the court case of the table? Guess it's not over, $TWTR back down to $50, lol

If it drops enough I'll buy it back and try for round two. Buying at $43 would be a ~20% gain if the deal goes through

Trial got stayed (October 28), I guess if Elon doesn't close by then he's in for a world of hurt. Unless the financing falls through somehow.

It's one of the best shows around

so it's still not a done deal?
Not really, Elon still has a way out, albeit an unlikely one (if they banks dont follow through, apparently, I'm just parroting and its not black & white).

Depending on what investors think the real twtr value is, market believes it to be 80-90% likely it goes through.

Elon said they'll appeal if theyre forced to buy after trial, so there might still be supreme court and shit.

So yeah, technically, no
