I was thinking earlier, that it won't be surprising if in the following days there appear to be a more professional "Ukranian" ground force, which will obviously just be foreign mercenaries that were secretly brought in.

Wouldn't be a huge departure from our usual foreign policy. If this ends up being a protracted thing, I think it will likely be moving in a direction of arming/economic sanctions, and then if it persists I could definitely see ground forces moving in.

Yep, this is the more likely scenario actually. The defense contracting business is treating this like Christmas, American mercenary type companies will definitely swarm to Kyiv, probably on a bargain.

If I'm not tripping, I guess they're spelling it that way to be more sympathetic to Ukraine? Idk.

Fucking hell. Due to a forced sabbatical from here I ain’t been around much. Seems as though I have lost some friends and comrades and “allies”in my absence. Small price to pay in order to protect mental health I guess. I wish to fuck that some of these reportes would get their shit together insofar as pronunciation and spelling is concerned. The latest flavor is pronouncing Putin like this : pooteen and Kiev like “Keev”. Don’t these people have bosses or directors or producers?

i think they believe that the Ukraine is really still part of the soviet bloc - and they kinda are - i think way back when, after the soviet union collapsed, in the 90s, when they started talking about some of those countries joining NATO, Boris Yeltsen let it be known that'll never happen with a few of those countries, specifically naming the Ukraine as one of them....so i do believe they'll stop there....i don't think they'd even think about going into Poland again or anything along those lines
