I'm aware of this; I chose to watch it against my better judgement because I figured if THAT many people liked it so much there must be something there... but there wasn't :(

I don't begrudge anyone for enjoying it, but I'll be damned if I can understand how/why anyone liked it in the slightest :confused:
 
I agree with your assessment of OUATIA, Cream Gravy...I didn't much care for that one either. The pace was just too slow for me. Same problem I have getting through the films of the Godfather trilogy tbh, there are some iconic moments in those films but a lot of it just moves at a glacial pace imo
 
Kong skull island

This was on Labor day with my dad. It was much better than expected, and far better than the last Kong movie I saw (also with my dad). I'm referring to the three hour piece of crap with Jack Black in it. That was awful compared to skull island!!

I love it too. Loved it then and did tonight as well. I would think time travel too?
But it's like they sat around a table writing the script going,
"Let's make it about time travel, but completely fucking incomprehensible for anyone to understand. Okay? LOL. Great."

That fucking bunny still scares the shit out me though. I'm spooning a pillow tonight.
 
I've heard it said that Donnie Darko is a great portrayal of experiencing schizophrenia (not my words). IMO it is just about time travel/fate/walking God's set channel so to speak. The film is one big loop, and notice the image in that drawing on Donnie's calendar before the end.

I don't think that spoils the film at all for new viewers lol. It's a trip. Great soundtrack. Didn't do well upon release due to 2001: A Bush Odyssey occurring weeks before release and there being a plane crash in the film :rolleyes:
 
Alien: Covenant (2017)

I went into this one thinking, "It can't be worse than Prometheus right?" WRONG!

Ridley Scott has once again outdone his previous self-immolations. What seems like it could be a fantastic Alien film the first thirty minutes (great soundtrack, decent acting thus far) quickly turns into a panic-fest full of idiot characters who make idiotic decisions. James Franco died in the first fuckin ten minutes lol, I guess he just wanted to be in an Alien movie.

The CGI aliens looked like ass, the horror was non-existent, the ending utterly predictable. Ties to Prometheus only made the plot worse than it already was, not to mention doing nothing to advance the story and giving no explanation as to where a third film might head nor how it could possibly bridge the gap between Covenant and the original film.

Don't bother watching Prometheus or Covenant if you liked the original Alien franchise. Scott has gone off the deep-end here, in a very, very bad way.

I liked it, personally. In saying that; the last 10-15 min (most of the 'edge of your seat' ) action sequence was pixilated as my mate's pigeon has taken to roost, on said, mate's satellite - have had thoughts of roast urban, game but will catch it again, hopefully. :)

Fassbender was difficult to buy-into as an android tbf ( like him acting in some other roles - he is pretty good - he emotes too much for the 'android role' and was somewhat hilarious to see him in this role (although, he did it well - just looked constipated; bad choice - couldnt take him seriously - he is way too charismatic for this kind of role imho).

I missed out on the evolved aliens at the end (because of the fkn pigeon -grrr!) but thought the beginning was pretty intriguing - not brilliant - few 'holes' but good, imo, anyway ;).

I agree, the beginning was decent, their reason for exploring the planet is sound, the acting and effects great, the soundtrack was decent. But it was as if as soon as they got to the planet and landed, everything flew out the window; the acting turned sour, the soundtrack started harping on the crappy Prometheus soundtrack (blech), and the plot became absolute nonsense.

Just my 2C. I really quite liked Alien: Resurrection which was the ugly duckling of the bunch for most fans, so take my input with a grain of salt :)
 
i liked the first 4 alien movies really, the 2 latest not so much. still good science fiction movies. imdb rates the first one as the best, with 8,4, all the other had 7 or below.
 
Watched a film called ‘The Offering’ - all the tropes of horror films and didn’t follow through on various plot lines which didn’t make any sense anyway. Here’s the trailer if anyone is interested.
