Hey BL, so I’m fed up with my clinic, have given clean UA’s and received monthly take homes…. That said I have been using Kaiser as my health insurance.. I got an amazing new job which offers blue cross / anthem via PPO. Selected that and maxed out FSA… anyhow, back to my question..

clearly they still make these pills, I believe in 10mg (definitely by melinkcroft (sp?) anyways, being that I’ll be able to find a new doctor and as well as using that public usa database which shows names doctors/MD’s in my area… I work 12 hour shifts and even th bottlnfhrfke wre making it by inconvenient for me.

Now is it possible to get a script from a doctor that would be willing to prescribe the pills? Being that I wouldn’t be using kaiser anymore… or are these typically used for basically those who have chronic pain? Is there a way to finesse a doc that is known via public record near my area that provide scripts to their patients? I.e say it is for pain management? Idk I’m just sick of the liquid, I’m sick of the clinic, and I know people are getting these one way or another.

The short answer is no. Methadone 10 mg tabs are still available usually for acute late-stage cancer pain.

Your only other choice is buprenorphine, probably with naloxone which is an inferior product Suboxone. Since you have good insurance you might be able to get onto Subutex. Ask your methadone clinic for your records, also ask for reference letters (counselor is good, doctor/nurse is better) to support your regular attendance, compliance with rules, and that you got along well with staff and fellow patients... They probably won't want to go much further but if you can try to convince them to mention managing take homes responsibly and the absence of illicit drug use. See if you can get the doc or nurse to write specifically that you would be a good candidate for Subutex.

They may say we can't do that because of HIPAA, Title 9 or even the Clinic's policy. Tell them fine, I really appreciate you protecting my privacy. All I'm asking is for you to attest to my character as a patient who would be a good candidate for Subutex without the naloxone. Tell them you understand if they can't mention specifics like length of time on the program, doses or UA test results, number of take homes Etc. That will be in my files anyway I'm signing a disclosure to allow you to provide those to me (or even better: mail them directly to whatever new addiction specialist doctor that's in your health plan).
