Do psychedelics produce hallucinations by inducing night vision?

I thought this was very interesting and a unique perspective.

Night vision is interesting and if you've ever done the "staring" trick in a dark environment you may know about what I'm talking about.

In my teens I had incredible night vision, could see in a dark forest at night or without moonlight - brought me more than one drug test because of huge pupil dilatation ... it's unfortunately gone now 15 years later (replaced by visual snow. Wonder if this counts as HPPD from dissociatives? They deplete the retina of oxygen yet never did anybody report lasting impairment..) even when I'm still having huge pupils when off opioids, but never ever did something move or just remotely remember of psychedelics.

Very interesting though indeed.

This is also worth a read. Finally a simple explanation about what's the difference between NMDA and AMPA in sensory input.

Edit: The whole mad.science.blog is really worth reading. Been hooked for 5 hours now.

As per edit (though I'll admit the topic is interesting enough on its own) I am wondering what "assistance" there was reading, if any (i e. what the assistant was) ;-j

Actually, five hours isn't all that questionable. Quite an interesting set of topics.
