US Politics The 2021 Former President Trump Thread - I look very much forward to showing my financials, because they are huge.

Trump absolutely encouraged them, maybe not to rub shit on the Capitol curtains, but certainly encouraged them.

The truth about Trump lies in the fact that he has a wizard on his side, working nonstop to make people think that they can’t believe their own eyes. The last thing Trump did as president was to last minute pardon his wizard.

🧙‍♂️
You're joking right? Trump was and is the greatest President that ever stepped foot inside the White House, soon they'll want to change the of the highest building in the Nation, because the word White is racist.

If he were still President he most likely would've pardoned Chauvin.

wanna bet? come on, if you really believe that, you'll stand by it and agree to a wager...

if the white house is renamed before the end of biden's term(s), i'll leave bluelight forever. if it's still called the white house, you leave bluelight forever.

deal?

Trump was and is the greatest President that ever stepped foot inside the White House,
You say hyperbolic things like this and people are going to assume you are just trolling for lolz.

I guess it could be true if you have a extremely idiosyncratic definition of ‘greatest’ and how it might be measured.

It is very true that Trump delivered a range of measures and policy initiatives that benefitted his constitiency and arguably the nation as a whole. He was not a lame duck president and, despite media representations to the contrary, seems to have taken some aspects of policy very seriously.

However, there is a long list of Presidents who did a far better job facilitating America’s greatness and the wellbeing of its people.

Does no-one study history any longer?

The country as a whole doesn’t really feel the full effects and impact of someone’s presidency until a few years later or even decades longer good or bad.

🧙‍♂️
That is a very salient point Wizard. You really do need historical perspective to judge a presidency. It may well be that the flow on positive effects of some of Trump’s measures and policies turn out even better than he already deserves credit for.

Or not, if the legacy of the actual political strategy and behaviour fucks the system in a long term way.

It always blows my mind when people say that Trump is the "greatest president to have ever existed". Really? Greater than FDR, Lincoln, Washington?

Could we please make the "Trump is the presidential GOAT" a separate thread?

Trump is probably my favourite president that existed during my lifetime. It's always Lincoln, etc that people bring up when somebody says Trump is the best. You don't hear anyone bringing up Bush or Clinton.

By most measures that distinction belongs to President James Monroe, who expanded the union, managed to navigate compromise on the contentious issue of slavery, established the United States as a major player in foreign affairs and was re-elected almost unanimously. His name might not be uttered with the same reverence as others like Lincoln, FDR and Washington, but his tenure was particularly notable for the achievements he made without plunging the union into divisiveness and war and his ability to rally bi-partisan support. I realise many Trump apologists will dispute this, saying that Monroe was President 200 years ago and it's not a fair comparison. To that I say, well, if those are your conditions, stop calling Trump the greatest of all time.

Bush is a turncoat, and Clinton sold America out, and was a deviant, Lincoln yes was a great President he freed the slaves and kept our country together.
