They wouldn't say they lied, only that they misrepresented his words (creating quotes?) that were proven inaccurate when the actual recording was made public.


Trump's an ass, but MSM has gotten away with waaaayyyyy to much of this shit.

Instead, Trump urged the investigator to scrutinize ballots in Fulton County, Ga., asserting she would find “dishonesty” there. He also told her that she had “the most important job in the country right now.” A story about the recording can be found here. The headline and text of this story have been corrected to remove quotes misattributed to Trump.

Am I the only one who thinks just making the call at all is probably improper? Even if we argue it's not, saying what the conclusion should be definitely it.

Honestly, regardless of what specifically trump said at any given specific point, he tried to obstruct and undermine the election, for that alone he should never hold office again.
 
I can't even remember the specific story that they were referring to with these quotes. Everything kind of got drowned by Jan. 6th...I do remember the phone calls they played of Trump with the guys in Georgia, but I don't remember this specific incident they're referring to here...

Attributing specific, direct quotes to a public official based on a single anonymous source definitely seems like journalistic malpractice, though.

"just making the call" is not improper in my view. Regardless of party, I would want my President pushing for fairness and honesty in all elections. If it were a President completing his second term (ie, not on the ballot in question) I would still expect he is fighting for the American's faith in the elections. It came into p lay in the other thread I made about election fraud, in that it traced Nixon's efforts, and GW's that led to Carter's foundation doing the research on how to keep them fair. Over time, there have been attempts to clean things up - regardless of which party may be viewed as 'cheating', and by persons of both parties in trying to improve elections. I have no issue with a President pushing for this.

I do, however, have an issue with an active participant on the current ballot pushing for HIS favor as opposed to fairness. This is where Trump failed me on this subject.

Trump behaves like a sleazy mob boss. Of course he would imply that any investigation looking for possible fraud would only be a success if it proved he had won.

He was a disgrace.

No idea why all the trump hate. It was nice having a president put this country first for once. Back to business as usual letting China rape us and another spineless president. I really hope this country splits before we let democrats completely destroy us

If you don't see why so many of us hated trump, there's no point trying to convince you.

Personally I don't want a president who's idea of putting America first is alienating our allies and damaging our alliances. I don't want a president who undermines and attacks the very institutions that make America what it is. I don't want a president who attacks American protesters so he can have a pathetic photo OP.

Fuck trump. America, and indeed the whole world, is better off without him.

Read in its full context, it's saying you shouldn't make clothing out of an actual flag. Like a proper full size flag. Wearing an item of clothing made to look like the flag is probably not a violation any more than a lapel pin.

Nevertheless. It's still really tacky and I'd prefer people exercise more tact in their patriotism.

I missed this earlier, thank you for posting it. I'd never really considered that alternate interpretation of it coming down to simply NOT using a real flag for other purposes. It makes sense, with the degree of respect and rules around handling an actual real flag (can't touch the ground, if up at night it must have a light at all times, given to families of fallen service members, etc). But what really caught me with your distinction was ....

Tacky. This brought back to memory a lifetime of southern beaches from Virginia to Texas having people in the tackiest and gawd awfulest of bathing suits, robes, towels and other such clothing items that were American themed, usually with a flag on it or representing the stars and stripe in some fashion. That's when the light when on for Jess' definition, because while Ali believes the Trump statue is tacky and breaking his interpretation of the flag code, I'm thinking back to decades of beachgoers alone who have been doing the same. Don't make me post pictures.
