I totally wouldn't be surprised if the Queen was racist AF.
jfc. This is a great example of going too far. As was the radio show I mentioned in an earlier post that I listened to, about "eliminating your casual racism in food choices", all about how it's racist for a white person to post a recipe of, say, middle eastern descent. I'm like what the fuck, food is for sharing, if I post a recipe for a great middle eastern dish I'm honoring and celebrating their food! I mean of course if I stole some middle eastern person's recipe and claimed it my own, then yeah, that's not cool. But the idea that we should police people based on race to only be able to use recipes from their own ethnic background is absurd and way over the line of what is acceptable.
The conversation about white privilege is important, and I believe in it, but a number of people are pushing it into ridiculous places that are just plain wrong-headed.
Similar example that infuriated me recently...

I take this as another example of how there is no idea so benevolent or positive that it can't be turned into something horrible once the extremists get ahold of it.
Mr Potatohead was pretty cringey, too. And Dr Seuss. Come on...
I would love to be black for a spell... I would try to bring the colors together. We would forgive the white man. All blacks would be given 2 million dollars reparation. We might go as far as to burn the history books because it's clear that your color had nothing to do with the brutality and slavery that occurred, it was simply timing. Blacks would have done the same to whites if they had walked in their shoes. Am I wrong?

In other words, reparations will cost us about a hundred trillion dollars.
That's uhh.. That's steep...
Especially since the entirety of the earth is only worth about 360 trillion.
Of course s0me individual cops are awful racists, but I very much dislike the sentiment that "all cops are bastards". They are not. Most cops want to be serving the public good. One of my oldest friends is a cop and he's amazing, a good cop. And there are so many more good cops. We need to move away from this militarized, shoot first ask questions later mentality in the police, and have a more holistic approach.
Being bipartisan means both sides put aside their differences and work together to resolve an issue. Are you really against that? Against political cooperation across the aisle?I myself am anti-bipartisan,
I guess you might call it “oppositional politics”. In authoritarian states, the opposition is undesirable. In liberal democratic politics, opposition is thought essential (to keep the party in government honest). However, it only works when both sides believe in pluralism and compromise. Unfortunately for America American Republicans seem to have forgotten that a central element of democracy is pluralism.I'm sorry, i may have soiled my message. To me bi-partisan politics is our system of dividing our choices into 2.
2 controlling sides own each of the arguments and the only way through the political system is to be vested by one of these
power holding private organizations.
So yeah, the idea that I am against putting aside our differences is exactly the opposite of what I meant.
That being said i'm a little high and I just can't think of the single word that describes that form of government.
But yeah I suppose I knew that a bipartisan issue was one that both sides thought was an issue.
Anyone see the Black Mirror episode where social media stature runs the world? It was this fucked up 1984esque situation where
everyone could judge you at all times and you had to be this fake ass tool just to make it through life without being fucked with so hard
you couldn't live your life. The world has started to come off this way to me.
Here's a perfect example of that. Your typical white American liberal would consider cultural misappropriation but if read all the comments you'd see that the Mexican people don't feel that way at all. From what I noticed the Latino community doesn't really buy into that cultural misappropriation bs and feel honored and flattered when other cultures get enjoyment out of theirs.Yeah I agree. Cultural appropriation is when you take something from another culture and make it your own or profit from it without giving due. Taking aspects of other cultures into you and imitating them and admiring them is not cultural appropriation, that's just a natural response to something you like or admire.
+1Frankly though I'm skeptical of the whole concept of "cultural appropriation".
