How the British stole $45 trillion dollars from India from 1765 to 1938

@December Flower.

You'll note I'm not even quoting your post just in case you change your mind and want to delete it! Because for damn sure: you've got big ones is all I can say! And rather you than me! 🤣

For what it's worth though: for some inexplicable reason, of late, I've found myself trying to look at all sides. Not an easy thing for somebody of my years to start doing I'll tell you. Then again: maybe it's not that inexplicable given the (political) events of the last year or so. If nothing else and more than ever: I really do think it's time for everybody to start minding their own business and sorting their own shit out as opposed to getting involved in the domestic affairs of another sovereign nation or country. But seems to me it's getting worse not better. And there has to be a backlash somewhere, sometime, if this carries on.

I'm reminded of the proverb "Good fences make good neighbors". But in just checking for the correct wording now before posting: seems as though there's some very different interpretations of this. Oddly enough and don't laugh but the site below came up. The comments are pretty interesting. For one thing: I didn't know that the GOP was talking about building a wall between Mexico and the USA as far as back as 2011! And that from (what appears to be anyway) a kiddies site! 🤣

Wait for "Mama Lisa" to check the referral links to the site and arrive here! 🤣 Shock and horror! 🤣

And then I find this (and which, given that I'd no idea, is reason enough for me to stay the fuck out here, because my first reaction was "well what was the big deal with this wall then"):

@dalpat077 I don't quite understand? Why would I delete it?
It's my opinion and I'm not going to change it.

Let me be clear here, because I suspect what the issue is with what I said:
Did 9/11 surprise me? No.
Did the USA have it coming? Nobody deserves death.
Was it OK to retribute the killings of 3000 civilians with the killings of 600.000+ civilians?
And I'm not going to answer that.

I just said this didn't shock me, because of what our society does.

If anyone wants to dispute my opinion,
feel free to piss in a bucket and mail it to my dick, freedom of speech is a thing.

Well I'm alright Jack i.e. I'm sitting here F-A-R away from you! 🤣

Reminds me a bit of some advice that a highly respected member here posted on one of my racially charged threads that were going some time back (now deleted): "know your audience" (when I was being attacked from all sides, in hindsight quite rightly so though, and having the BL riot act sent to me via PM)! 🤣 He probably doesn't even remember that. It's stuck with me though.

Anyway. All respect to you though.

Was just thinking about my previous post(s) though here on this thread as well as the topic of the thread. I'd be willing to bet that as far back as time goes: it probably all comes down to what can be gained really and nothing more. It's just done under different guises. And I'm being disingenuous. For years they've been talking about having an African Union Passport (and there's even a political party or two that's punting for a united Africa and with no borders). Not too long ago I found the entire idea ridiculous. But oh how far I've come! And in such a short space of time! 🤣

Mind you: the above a little bit different from meddling in the domestic affairs of another country (whether it be politically or militarily). I just want to borrow some land and empower the farming community! 🤣 At least I'm honest albeit self-serving! 🤣

Yeah, it's just so messed up what we did/do to other countries and their people, and still pretend we're the hero.
Honestly? 9/11 did not shock me. Neither did the wave of terrorist attacks by ISIS.
We do have it coming, we really do. Every one of us deserves it for not standing up against this injustice, especially Iraq, Iran & Afghanistan Wars,
what we did to the Middle East is APPALLING.

How Native Americans can even stomach through a conversation with a White I will never understand.
I think I'd have to converse with my fists if I were in their shoes.

Then this "War against Terror", killing hundreds of thousands of civilians per annum in the name of PEACE & DEMOCRACY.

We do have it coming, and everyone who thinks we don't is either lying to themselves or choosing not to see what we do for a living.

I'm sorry, this makes me so angry, it's hard to stay calm about this topic.
That is totally normal, imo.

Never get my fist's out but its the warrior spirit. Confronte your enemie's.

;)

Britain, on the other hand, abandoned feudalism 1,000 years ago and while not precisely a meritocracy certainly allowed social mobility.
Britain ended feudalism (feudal tenure; serfdom) in England in the 1500s and in Scotland in the 1700s. It was second or third in Europe (after Switzerland and near-tied with the Netherlands respectively) but that's not 1000 years.

True. I misspoke. Although the movement towards ending it began in the late 1300's with the Peasant's Revolt (which is what I was thinking of). So a 200 year process up to ending it fully 500 years ago. Scotland I forgot about.

Well, yeah, but that is due to their beliefs.
The Church did have some horrible influence in our society as well, but we grew out of it, for the most part.
I find that in crisis, humanity sticks harder to their beliefs, so I can't make myself believe that England had any positive influence.
Being robbed of $45 trillion surely had a bad influence on the development of the country?
Actually we never grew out of the fundamental beliefs of the Christian church (at least not in the West). It was the Church that instituted the belief in the fundamental dignity and mental and bodily integrity of all human beings (beginning with women). Prior to that in slave-cultures like Rome no-one except the patriarch had any authority or power over themselves.

Although the Church as a political institution made some very grace errors that resulted in great evil, the fundamental philosophies of Christianity changed the world and led ultimately to the emancipation of women and the end of slavery (and serfdom). But people who don't study Ancient History (or Philosophy) usually think the Church begins and ends with buggering altar boys.

Great book called Dominion by Tom Holland tells the story very clearly as history of ideas. Another one is Inventing the Individual by Larry Siedontop.

I'd avoid slagging Christianity until I'd read at least one of them.

People on here talking against india have to know what was done by british they only ruled my state punjab for 90 odd years but ruled with divide and rule in my state they turned sikh and hindu against muslim when before then we lived peacefully together stole so much wealth. Now my family joined the british army in both world wars to help. us get independence. my grandfather fought in the Burma campaign in ww2 and his father in ww1 after the war our state was split in 2 which caused mass killings by Sikhs and muslims 1 million people died . but that history now you have to move on but some of the biggest battles in ww1 and ww2 had soilders from the british indian army just some recognition would be good

People have always stolen land and resources. White people didn't invent it and we sure as shit don't have any ownership of it. Beyond white guilt and minority victimhood, I don't see the point in circling around white history and convincing ourselves that we invented evil. That's nonsense. England helped and hurt India. There were much worse atrocities being committed in Africa and Asia at the time.

As for Africa, they were selling their own people as slaves... and you can't say they didn't benefit either. If it was me, I'd much rather be related to a slave than be a black man in Africa. You don't see a lot of African Americans migrating back to the motherland.

They were fighting men, paid to fight. Like any soldier in the world you can be deployed anywhere and become a target. British soldiers fought in Afghanistan, for Afghanistan and were targets the entire time, no one thanked them, the average soldier is just a young lad being told what to do.

No soldier expects thanks or land or some kind of special privilege for combat, that's not how it works. When you sign up you relieve yourself off any choices you might have had until your time is served, that's the agreement.

Those Indian soldiers may have went to war for Britain, but they signed up to do it, they knew what they were dying and they agreed to it. Army pay isn't great today either.

Yes they did and were promisied azadi at the end that not happen azadi means freedom they signed up for that. And why were we never in the parades the battle of monte casino had a vast number of sikh regiments but that not given the recognition only now is it given

My wife is Nigerian and my kids are mixed race, it isn't like that today and amongst all of our friends there is a wide acknowledgement that the US is way more racist than the UK.

I could give you loads of examples where I've been singled out for being white while out with my wife, it's not all one way.

Not only that, everyone in the 80's got bullied at school. That's how it was, fat kids, ginger kids, spotty kids, weird kids, good help you if you were a fat/ginger/spotty nerd. I looked like the bloody milky bar kid, i was small and weak which completed the look and the bullying changed my character for life, but unlike you I was the only one. I dont recall groups/gangs of milky bar kids roaming the streets or similar types i could collectively identify with.

Everyone has a cross to bear and it isn't people of colour carrying the biggest one. Good for you that you were big enough to fight, I wasn't.

Christ almighty, the only thing that's certain in the army is they can't make you pregnant, that's pretty much a given on week 1 day 1.

How far does it go back that we have to apologize and why? Shouldn't all nations apologize for everything that our ancestors have done since the beginning of time? If so, can we just do that in one fell swoop, rather than apologizing individually for every instance of misconduct throughout history by people who might or might not be related to us... but they look enough like us to assume so?

Why don't people ask Asians or African people to apologize?

This is not my shit. My father wasn't born during the Raj.

Not only that, the people who are making the most noise about it are just as British as you are, when it suits them.
