US Politics The 2020 Trump Presidency Thread

I know PRESIDENT Trump doesn't REALLY have a sense of humor (so I apologize in advance Mr. President)! But it is funny (albeit a little dated)!

Besides: after all the wrestling that's gone on here I figured today would be a good day to lighten things up a tad (we can all start fighting again next year when he's inaugurated again or declares martial law i.e. whichever comes first)! :ROFLMAO:

With respect to all who post here, far more greatly veresed on these topics over time....

And with no angle here, just a wish to express eomethiig personal- and you may well disagree wirh me, and fair enough.

But I have always adnred a good, powerful speaker. I love language used articulately, accurately, and without hesitation,

I personally thibk Trump is a natural born brilliant speaker.

Whatever you may say about him I see this as true. He is always adamant, convucted, confident and assured in getting his exact word across,,undeterred by resentment objection.

I personally love the way Donald speaks, he cracks me up to be honest.

But that is JUST me guys. Each to their owm.

Are you tripping every time you watch him speak or what? (In reference to your login name)! :ROFLMAO:

My support of PRESIDENT Trump is (still) unwavering as most will know. But crediting him as being an accomplished orator is a bit of stretch EVEN for me! :ROFLMAO:

I'm also not sure that it's a feather in his cap that he "cracks you up". Not with his speeches anyway. He cracks me up when I see him trying to be serious and I just KNOW he's biting his tongue or putting on an act for the sake of political expediency! Fine example was his Christmas Message (broadcast) with Mrs. Trump in tow! Now THAT cracked me up! :ROFLMAO: First time he'd heard of the baby Jesus was probably when he pulled that Bible stunt outside that church! Yet he pulled that off yesterday with a straight face!

which other speakers do you admire?

i think president trump is a very poor public speaker both in terms of content and delivery.

to each their own.

alasdair
Burns my backside to have to agree with YOU! But I do! :)

For what my radical, far right wing, fascist, and racist opinion is worth and in terms of content and delivery when it comes to American Presidents I'd rank them as follows and in order:

1 - President Obama
2 - President Clinton
3 - President George W. Bush

Cannot say that much really about the rest. Reagan wasn't exactly inspiring. And Kennedy never quite did it for me. As for the rest: meh. But then in fairness: pre: George W. I didn't really give that much of a shit. And of course (in reference to Kennedy) the technology has come so far since those days that unfortunately my terms of reference are limited to old and flaky audio and video.

Trumps appeal, in fairness to him, is that he sugar coats nothing and just let's it all come out in plain English. But sometimes he does go overboard and to the point of being cringe worthy (or worse). That all being said: he's definitely become more Presidential of late. No question in my mind about that. It's obvious (to me anyway). But then again: could just be the difference between a career politician and somebody who has had to learn on his feet in the last four years.

Honestly: ya'll should have given him another four years. I think you may have been pleasantly surprised at the Donald Trump that has emerged and his accomplishments when looking back upon his legitimately stepping down at the end of his second term.

Just look at this. He couldn't look more innocent and angelic even if he tried? Butter wouldn't melt in that mouth!

Probably been practicing in front of a mirror for the last year (and only JUST managed to keep it together if look real carefully)! :ROFLMAO:

Mind you and speaking of (possible) American Presidents that "crack you up" with their oratory:

Wait until (if?) Biden (maybe?) is left hanging when the teleprompter goes on the blink! That's going to be next level! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

The biggest reason Biden can barey speak a straight scentence, is becauss, like your typical heavy crack cocaine head, he is living such a gigantic lie, to hinself and the world.

He just cannot speak the truth. He isn"t allowed to of course even if he was capable of it, but, everytime he goes to think in order to speak, he looks inside his mind and all he sees are scaffoldings and woods of lies.

He can't see through, nor speak of it. Hence, visibly almost every time, unless teleprompted, his sentence crumbles by word three into the new language "Moron." Astonishingly appearing to mumble any old nonsensical incomprehensible gibberish.

I like how Trump speaks a lot, whatever anyone else thinks. I'm quite good myself with use of language, and a very articulate speaker in person.

You cannot become President and not be an excellent speaker both public and private.

I guess that rules Biden out then, case closed lol forget SCOTUS I just resolved it.

Joe Biden has struggled with a stutter his whole life. Think of the movie The King’s Speech. I can understand this to some extent, because I have a profound Tourette syndrome. It’s truly awful to make fun of someone with a disability, regardless if you agree or disagree with someone’s politics.

This has to be said.

🧙‍♂️
Well. In my defense: I didn't know that about him. Not somebody that I've ever watched make a speech before all of this come to think of it. My post was more of the typical Trump/Republican dig about his age and mental faculties and his fitness for office if anything.

Point taken though.

Tourette Syndrome. Interesting. Didn't know that about you either. Never met anybody in real life with Tourette's. I watched two videos on YouTube about an Australian girl that apparently has "the worst" (their words used in the titles) Tourette's. When she was younger (in the first video) she was hoping to get some electronic device implanted that would help (or did help for a time?). But then it had to be removed some time later (if memory serves me correctly). Not a nice story to be honest.

Anyway and as noted: point taken.

Trumps influence on the republican party WILL most likely survive his loss of Presidency.

The problem is, a lot of Republicans, even if they hate trump, feel compelled to support him because they're afraid of his brainwashed supporters.

A lot of Republicans are now loyal to trump, not the republican party.

If trump split off and formed his own party, I suspect it would functionally kill off the republican party. And the Trump party would probably struggle too.

So they don't wanna defy trump because a large proportion of Republicans have stopped supporting the republican party because of political principles, and now determine their principles to be in line with trump.

Basically they are cult members. And hilariously and infuriating they actually call other people sheep. When their only political position is trump.

Party is neo cons vs constitutional conservatives. Sweeping generalization is that neo cons are god first and the constitutional wanna restore value. The acid had shifted course.

Id argue for all intents and purposes it's real Republicans vs trumpists at this point.

The real Republicans are the ones that believe in conservative values, that believe in America and her democratic constitutional systems and want to protect them.

And the trumpists believe in trump. They only believe in an America under his indefinite control, and anything that gets in the way of it including the constitution is to be ignored. They're traitors posing as patriots.

The question is what proportion of the republican part does each general group make up.
