Yeah I'm so sick and tired of people crying about wearing masks in public. Get the fuck over it and quit whining. Wearing a mask in public isn't giving any sinister cabals any power, and it's not an assault on your personal liberty. It's just common sense during a pandemic. In fact people should be wearing masks and washing their hands and being careful during flu season every year, too (and some do).

I agree some governments have gone too far. But a lot of Americans act like being required to wear a mask at the grocery store is one step away from Communist China. It's not. For fuck's sake we don't even have a mask mandate, it's just being strongly recommended.

If you look at total deaths this year compared to average, we are riding about 25% higher (perhaps less in aggregate, during the peak we hit about 30-35% higher, and it's been less some months). That's a lot more deaths, some of which could be prevented if people weren't such prima donnas. Instead we have conspiracy theories everywhere... people saying that all deaths of any kind are being reported as covid (blatantly untrue, if you take a few minutes to look it up, the vast majority of deaths are being reported as being caused by other things), for example. So let's say the death rate is 0.6%... that's pretty low, fortunately, but consider that the flu has an average mortality rate of 0.00018% (18.1 deaths per 100,000 people). So COVID is actually ~3,333 times more deadly than the flu, if your 0.6% figure is true (0.6 divided by 0.00018 ). Applying a little bit of logic and critical thinking can easily show that, while it's unlikely to kill any given individual, COVID is not something to take lightly, and given how transmissible it is, precautionary measures are important. And it sure as hell is more deadly than the average flu.

I find wearing masks uncomfortable but it's pretty selfish and fucked up when all it takes is for one motherfucker to not wear on then we all have to go into another God damn lock down

And we are still having it drummed into us that this will not be enough. There is no conspiracy in this, it's plain reality. This technology exists. Their intentions to merge humans with A.I has been openly spelled out for several years now, sold as a good thing. A moneyless society similarly. We only need an ID chip! These are their actual, real life aims. Not conspiracies. One of the famous Rockerfella brothers openly admitted/revealed that their ultimate goal and aim has always been to have every single person in the world micro ID chipped by 2030 at the latest.

I watched the interview with my own eyes, a good decade ago now.

Just because something long proposed and talked about hasn't happened yet, does not mean the project is not in full swing.

Never has the State, in UK at least, had so much power, control, and threat over the citizens.

My friend can't come in my back garden to offer his emotionally, mentally vulnerable life long friend support.

But he can go to work! The elderly in this country in care homes are dying prematurely, faster than ever, not from Covid but emotional breakdown due to being so wickedly deprived of the right to see their families and loved ones.

I don't know the official suicide statistics in this country but it is certainly higher than ever and risng by the day, as is domestic and child abuse, while mental health service support is denied access, limited, or overworked.

Staying indoors, confined, no friends or family to visit, no social contact, fear fear fear, doom of the future- these things have such a destructive impact on the biology and immune system.

50 million people who have reportedly contracted Covid globally, only 5 are officially known to have been re-infected.

Immunity acquisition is not just possible, but essential, and basically preventable too by locking people down into their houses and calling off woodstock, hampering and weakening immune systems at the same time by crippling emotional states, perpetually drumming into people nothing but fear and hopelessness and doom and gloom, no light or hope for the future.

This is a recipe to make people sick. Who are then much more likely to get covid, in a weaker immune condition.

The reason not a single natural coronavirus vaccine has been approved in decades of trying, is because it has so far proven to be entirely impossible.

In every single circumstance, all animals tested showed positive intial signs, but then when infected with the virus, had significantly weaker resistence to it than the non-vaccinnated animals.

This time- animal trials have been skipped altogether! It is human trials now! And now the vaccine companies and all involved in the authorisation and issueing of the vaccine, have 100% immunity from law. There is no compensation, noone to complain to.

These, too, are facts. And ones which really should alarm.

For something that does not even warrant a vaccine in the first place. Over 99% of people recover fairly quickly with only mild symptoms.

Yet- we have to shut down the entire world! Deny dying elderly acccess to their families, triple suicide rate, exacerbate depression and anxiety, destroy businesses, economies, and the rest.

These are just the facts of the matter, if you step back and take a clearer view of the situation and tone down the buzzing intefering equivocation fear-oriented media campaign based on false statistics, and flawed testing procedures.

I feel just as passionately about all this as any of you do. We just sit on opposite sides of the fence, as an understatement.

lets say your argument would be stronger if your math was correct.

18.1 per 100,000 is 0.018% not 0.00018% but hey what is two orders of magnitude...

COVID IFR is much less than 0.3% probably close to 0.1%. Generally estimated IFRs always decline over time as diseases hit the vulnerable first and kills them, but even if we use your inflated IFR of 0.6% then it is 0.6/0.018 which is 33 times higher seasonal flu based on your odd divisor number which is actually close to deaths due to flu divided by the whole population, including people who don't catch flu.

The main predictor of IFR is age for both flu and COVID, but with a bad flu the IFR is higher in younger groups than COVID. overall a bad year flu IFR is a bit below 0.1% usually around 0.05-0.06% CFR for flu is 3-4%

COVID is not something to be sniffed at, but cancer will eventually kill 20% of you and cardiovascular events another 20% and a lot of the excess mortality over the next few years will be caused by anti-corona measures causing treatable people being missed and turning up too late, not deaths due to infection with SARS-CoV-2.

I have no fixed opinion on masks, they probably make no difference whatsoever but give people the illusion of somehow being able to control a force of nature. The virus will continue to run and most people will hardly notice if they collide with it. It is still running in China but to be a case in China you need to have a positive PCR and symptoms.

Lockdowns and restrictions just make the virus transmission go in different directions but the consequence of doing lockdowns and other restrictions is that a different set of people get to die many of whom should have had many more years of life. That is the tradeoff.

hospital morgues are designed to have the bodies flowing through. if the undertakers are slowed up then they reach capacity very quickly requiring refrigerated trailers. It is almost a just in time level of capacity, if too many bodies go in one door and don't go out the other door then there are problems, output is backing up lowering throughput but input is already higher.

How is this any different from the current day? Many places, if someone finds out your drug habit they can turn you in to the cops and you lose your job / go to jail.
Maybe you missed then "benevolent" part of "benevolent dictator". I think it's rather pessimistic to assume that every AI would end up turning into murderous maniacs (HAL9000, A.M., etc) and that there would be no safeguards at all to prevent such an occurrence. Presumably the AI would not just fabricate itself out of nothing, there would be humans designing it...

In my imaginary future, you'd be free to sample whatever drugs you like, and the AI could act as pharmacist, trip-sitter, doctor, and documentarian all in one. It'd be able to recognize when use became problematic, optimize dosing and polypharmacy, preempt a potential overdose, or respond when one did occur.
