It is called racial profiling. Over policing and targeting of minority communities. Centuries of racial discrimination and economic despair. Etc...

This isn't what this thread is supposed to be about. Hopefully we can get back on topic.

Sounds like you are saying "they all look the same to me" :D

I still think it is hilarious how DNA testing websites claim there is some major measurable genetic autosomal difference between Europeans from Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, Netherlands, Northern Germany, Northern France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and Iceland.

There's enough of a difference that deCODE in Iceland figured out there are people of Irish descent there. Well, I know there's physical evidence of Irish monks settling there before the Vikings arrived and we say Irish rather than Celtic or even Pict based on later literature, so I guess you could say there's a historical bias but it still gives you an idea of what's going on in real life

I think it gets weird when we go by country and say what a person is, at least in the case of say Denmark, Sweden and Norway. We're one people. Even my Icelandic prof is directly related to me. The Faroese are similar to us too, even though I don't understand a word of Faroese

There are big differences in Europeans. An Italian would be closer to an Arab genetically than they would be to Swede.
Claiming white people are just white is only an American thing. Lumping them all into same group is dumb.
You can see there are huge differences between someone from Libya and someone from Somalia. Somalis are really black, while Libyans look like Arabs.
There is bigger difference between many Europeans than that, so that's that.

Is it racial profiling in my country too? And in Norway? And just everywhere there really are statistics?
 
^ modern genetics agrees (and i say this as a bioinformatician, so i know more about what i'm taklnig about than the average person). there is far more genetic variation within subsaharan africa than across the rest of the earth. but we group all those people as black, and somehow think that the variation between, say, a southern medditeranian person and a middle eastern person, is more important because the skin colours of those two groups are slightly different.
