jennifer griffin of fox news confirmed the trump "dead soldiers are losers and suckers" story.

which bleeding-heart, social justice warrior, cancel-culture obsessed librtard said that she "should be fired for this kind of reporting"?

wait. my mistake. it was the president of the united states.

i guess cancel culture isn't just for libtards any more :)

Those words are all probably too big for the toddler in chief. He usually prefers to just call people nasty and mean.

Reporter: what would you say to Americans who are scared?
Trump: THAT'S A NASTY QUESTION EVERYTHING'S GREAT THERE IS NO VIRUS IT'S ALL THE DEMOCRATS FAULT!

What is with the pseudo-religeous idolization of the military in the USA?

Military cemeteries world over are full of people who didn't want to die,
They didn't "give their life for (insert country/fatherland/freedom)" instead they had their lives stolen from them fighting another mans war.
If you could ask them, those that ended up buried in a field in some far off land, they would probably agree that they lost.
The winners if you want to call it that, who didn't end up in a bag come home damaged and destroyed....Thankyou for your fucking service.
That is the reality of this and a reality that the soldiers know all too well.

So if we assume that Trump did actually say or do what was alleged, is this more Trump being his usual boorish inarticulate and insensitive self in communicating what is actually an important observation?

This is a discussion that needs to be had, forget the flag wrapped patriotic declarations of fealty and worship of the military, the current US war machine is needlessly destroying lives of Americans and bleeding the USA dry,

Maybe though, just maybe, this story is baseless, untrue and spun to death by the usual WaPo NYT CNN suspects, not like this hasn't happened before.
Perhaps though this story is a bit like the Russian Afghanistan bounty non-story, a fabrication by partisan journalists 'confirmed', whatever the hell that really means, by other partisan journalists, a story that was completely untrue and now has been memory holed.

keep lapping up the media talking points, when the media bell rings you salivate, pavlov dog style.

There are plenty of things to attack Trump over, He is an obnoxious narcissistic moron, perhaps the liberal media needs to look at Kushners business dealings. At Trumps financial dealings with DB and others but they don't dare because a powerful lobby owns them too. It looks like the Dems will have to endure 4 more years of Trumpian bullshit and bluster to perhaps figure out how they went so wrong.

is there a trump supporter here who would defend this behavior?
I am not a Trump supporter but I understand why he thinks American soldiers ale losers. Getting killed in a war where you are basically a lowly paid mercenary doesn't seem like a good deal. Even soldiers themselves don't believe in the "freedom fighters democracy bringing" propaganda, they go to places like Iraq or Afganistan because they are desperate and army pays them more than flipping burgers at McDonalds would, not to mention other benefits like education. And there are lots of people who think doing this is plain stupid. Trump just said what he honestly thought.

sure - because his track record of honest, nuanced observation is, you know, outstanding :)

and, hey, if dying for your country makes you a sucker and a loser, then they should get a better job! isn't that what the right-leaners love to tell people?

1. I think Trump is a narcisistic sociopath and lies all the time, but even those kind of people sometimes tell truth.
2. "Dying for your country" is in this case only a propaganda narration. In reality they died because out of financial desperation they chose a high risk job.

I think he despises poor people and that's why he said what he said. Is statement "dead soldiers are loosers" a universal truth or not is a completely different matter.

Nixon claimed he wasn't a crook and Clinton claimed he didn't have sexual relations with Lewinsky. I don't think it's right to portray politicians lying as a partisan thing when, unfortunately for us, politicians on both sides will tell whatever lie they think will get them through the week.

It's not characteristic of right-leaning people to disparage servicemen/women. Generally "get a better job" is a response to people living five to a flophouse and flitting from one minimum wage job to the next because they have a bad habit of flaking on bigger responsibilities. If anything, right-leaning types encourage people who lack discipline to join the military for that exact reason -- becoming disciplined leads to better life outcomes.

Bear in mind that red states have the highest representation ratio (i.e. per capita) in the U.S. military, so "get a job" is not even a partisan thing. Not to mention, this means Trump would not only have to be a liar but also incredibly stupid to dump on servicemen knowing they are highly representative of his supporter base.

That in itself has to make a rational person suspicious that this is just the latest in a now long line of desperate Democrat smear campaigns targeting Trump for removal.

From the article @novaveritas linked:

Glenn Greenwald said:
It seems the same misleading tactic is now driving the supremely dumb but all-consuming news cycle centered on whether President Trump, as first reported by the Atlantic’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, made disparaging comments about The Troops. Goldberg claims that “four people with firsthand knowledge of the discussion that day” — whom the magazine refuses to name because they fear “angry tweets” — told him that Trump made these comments. Trump, as well as former aides who were present that day (including Sarah Huckabee Sanders and John Bolton), deny that the report is accurate.

This is Glenn Greenwald saying this, one of the few journalists left who actually has a reputation for integrity in the profession. It's highly unlikely he would stake his reputation questioning the truth of this story, not to mention the other anti-Trump stories also mentioned in the article, purely to defend Trump.

How much more evidence will it take before the left is willing to acknowledge that many of the "facts" against Trump have been part of a concerted propaganda campaign to discredit the man purely for the purposes of manipulating America into voting against Trump?

Another four years of Trump may not be a winning situation for anyone, but the right will undoubtedly feel betrayed by their fellow Americans if Biden wins. Deeper divisions between the American left and right may be inevitable unless the left is willing to acknowledge that the political landscape is being predominantly manipulated now by parties that strongly wish to install Biden as president.

sure. so how do you know when he's telling the truth?

his pubic history on this subject damns him.

alasdair

pubic history, for a minute I thought you were being droll with some oblique reference to grabbing them by the pussy but then I realised you were a card carrying Dem and Antifa regional commandante and therefore had no sense of humor.

You can tell when Trump is lying his lips move. You can tell when Biden is lying because not only do his lips move but the puppeteers hand twitches.

I feel like anyone that isn't a part of Trump's cult of personality will move on quickly to realize that Biden is more a Republican-lite than the progressive harbinger of doom that the Trumpanzees like to thump their chests about.

Maybe, but Biden is also painting himself into a corner taking tough on China, which could backfire horribly. For better or worse, Trump kept CCP off guard with his mercurial behaviour and manage to accomplish a lot without having to commit resources. Being a showy conman may not have played well at home but it did make for successful foreign policy.

As for Trump's divisive domestic posturing ... well, it takes two to tango. The left is aggressively trying to blame the nascent alt-right for racial tensions in spite of the obvious fact that there was no mass looting and rioting during the Obama administration. Even then, the looting and rioting that did occur was fringe left (Black Bloc).

I suspect if Biden does win, we're going to see that left-wing terrorism doesn't go away because a Democrat is in power and the alt-right isn't going to fizzle out because Trump retires. America will still have to deal with this problem person-to-person.

there was no mass looting and rioting during the Obama administration.

just goes to show what real leadership can do for a country.

"no red America, no blue America, it's the United States of America" iirc...

I dont think he has dementia, but perhaps on a high dose of xanax.

We are screwed either way. Biden will seek council to make decisions. Trump makes like 100 twitter posts a day and most are simply talking shit and have 0 value. He needs to go.

War is coming. Civil for sure, world maybe if trump stays.

I don't care. He could be half dead and I'd still prefer him over trump.

It's really hard to be worse than a narcissistic self absorbed psycho like trump.

Who cares? It's not like you have to deal with him personally. Most politicians probably fit a lot of criteria for pathological narcissism. That alone isn't going to stop me from voting for someone. Not making sense and showing signs of early dementia will tho. 🤣
