Joe Biden's Plan to End Gun Violence | Joe Biden for President
Biden wants to severely limit how you can acquire guns, parts and ammo. Included in his 'plan' is:
(verbatim from Joe Biden.com)
End the online sale of firearms and ammunitions. Biden will enact legislation to prohibit all online sales of firearms, ammunition, kits, and gun parts.
Ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
Close the “hate crime loophole.” Biden will enact
legislation prohibiting an individual “who has been convicted of a misdemeanor hate crime, or received an enhanced sentence for a misdemeanor because of hate or bias in its commission” from purchasing or possessing a firearm.
Create an effective program to ensure individuals who become prohibited from possessing firearms relinquish their weapons.
Reinstate the Obama-Biden policy to keep guns out of the hands of certain people unable to manage their affairs for mental reasons.
Reduce stockpiling of weapons. In order to reduce the stockpiling of firearms, Biden supports
legislation restricting the number of firearms an individual may purchase per month to one.
As president, Biden will pursue legislation to
regulate possession of existing assault weapons under the National Firearms Act.
Prohibit the use of federal funds to arm or train educators to discharge firearms.
Put America on the path to ensuring that 100% of firearms sold in America are 'smart guns'.
Hold adults accountable for giving minors access to firearms, regardless of whether the minor actually gains possession of the firearm.
TACKLE URBAN GUN VIOLENCE with targeted, evidence-based community interventions.
Breaking some of these down:
Create an effective program to ensure individuals who become prohibited from possessing firearms relinquish their weapons.
We're assuming this is pointed at felons, correct? There is the conservative push back of who defines 'prohibited' (ie, the line can be moved from felon to christian to left handed to whatever). I'm more concerned with why Biden hasn't done shit about this in the 40+ years he's been in DC. Of course, there is the practical problem of getting guns from felons, when most of those weapons are sold on the black market and untraceable. You have no idea who has them or where they got them from. We're all for de-arming the gangs and shit, but good look trying to actually do that.
Reinstate the Obama-Biden policy to keep guns out of the hands of certain people unable to manage their affairs for mental reasons.
Hard to argue against this one, but I can see conservatives again arguing 'who draws the line, and does it move?'
Close the “hate crime loophole.” Biden will enact legislation prohibiting an individual “who has been convicted of a misdemeanor hate crime, or received an enhanced sentence for a misdemeanor because of hate or bias in its commission” from purchasing or possessing a firearm.
No argument from me.
Put America on the path to ensuring that 100% of firearms sold in America are 'smart guns'.
Another attempt at gun control that will effect legal gun owners, not criminals as they continue to arm themselves off the black market. It'll make legal guns less usable for criminals (until the system is bypassed), and likely cut down on accidental deaths (kids messing around). But I see huge pushback coming on this.
Hold adults accountable for giving minors access to firearms, regardless of whether the minor actually gains possession of the firearm.
No argument here.
TACKLE URBAN GUN VIOLENCE with targeted, evidence-based community interventions.
Again, 40+ years in DC and what has he (or anyone) done to date about this? And how, exactly, does he expect 'evidence-based community interventions' to materialize? Armed neighborhood watches?
