Police Brutality Thread

It's been getting pretty wild here in Louisville too. The police and national guard shot and killed some bystander when they heard shots fired. Needless to say the dude they shot was a local business owner and would help serve the homeless BBQ. Really sad.
Cant really trust any police offers anymore.

This is about much more than the death of black people by white cops. It is, however, the breaking point.

This is the inevitable result of a generation being bullied by the police and THE PEOPLE responding, finally, with the truth: "The Police are Wrong."

Burn it down. Take what you can. Do not hurt anyone unless they are trying to hurt you or your loved ones.

...

I, however, say this from my isolated homestead with my stockpiles of food and guns. Very quiet. I saw a coyote last time I went outside.

So perhaps I am not seeing the situation clearly.

today, in washington d.c. the police dispersed peaceful protesters with tear gas to clear the street so that president trump could pose for photos of himself holding up a bible.

the bishop of the episcopal diocese of washington, denounced trump for dispersing protesters with force “so they could use one of our churches as a prop.

it's comical. and absolutely tragic. and a little surreal. and a little scary.

the president declared himself the "president of law and order" and threatened to deploy u.s. military troops to the streets of america.

oh, and the second amendment crowd, this is surely a level or tyranny that goes beyond george w. bush's torching of the 4th amendment?

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State..." seriously, what the hell are you waiting for? your moment is upon you.

is america great again yet? are you tired of winning yet?

Trump going full dictatorship. Its time for americans to rise up and take back the country via force. And if soliders actually care about their fellow americans to disobey orders and march on D.C

maybe protesters could try respectfully making their point by, oh i don't know, quietly taking a knee at a sporting event?

wait. no. nevermind...

What does that achieve? There were never any solutions offered by kneeling - and that act actually turned a lot of people OFF the cause.
Same deal with riots.

"900 additional blacks were killed in 2016 compared with 2015, bringing the black homicide victim total to 7,881.
The increase in black homicides in 2016 comes on top of a previous 900-victim increase between 2014 and 2015.
In 2016, the police fatally shot 233 blacks (3% ) the vast majority armed and dangerous, according to the Washington Post.
The paper categorized only 16 black male victims of police shootings as “unarmed." (that's 0.2% - is that where the focus of blame should be? Or should it be the 99.8%?)

In 2015, a police officer was 18.5 times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male was to be killed by a police officer.

Black males have made up 42 percent of all cop-killers over the last decade, though they are only 6 percent of the population. That 18.5 ratio undoubtedly worsened in 2016, in light of the 53 percent increase in gun murders of officers — committed vastly and disproportionately by black males.White killers of blacks numbered only 243.

72% percent of the nation’s officers say that they and their colleagues are now less willing to stop and question suspicious persons.

Four studies came out in 2016 alone rebutting the charge that police shootings are racially biased. If there is a bias in police shootings, it works in favor of blacks and against whites."

I'm all for discussing and offering solutions to the cultural and socioeconomic factors that have led to this environment, but people need to be honest about what's really going on and not just parrot media propaganda to inflame divisions.

i can't believe donald duck is bringing in the military - this is going to end so badly. i'm glad i'm in canada.

It’s risky but a color revolution is underway. The longer this takes the more Antifa and it’s affiliates will gain momentum. If Trump is unable to restore law and order fast the US will have civil war instead of a temporary (I hope it’s temporary) martial law. At least that’s how I currently see the situation. Him restoring law and order first in Washington DC makes sense because if the capital burns, the whole of the US will burn. He could have deployed the military everywhere but didn’t. I think he is trying to play it safe as best as possible.

The situation is not calming down from what I understand, it's getting more intense by the day. If the police is unable to get the situation under control and more people are getting butchered. What else can he do? He is also undermined at every corner. Cities run by liberals don't seem to want to restore law and order. They want Anarchy.

I keep seeing this being posted over every form of social media today. Do you expect the people that have spent the last decade protesting for gun rights to run to the defense of those that spent that decade cheering new gun laws? No one in their right mind is going to drive into a city that's currently burning due to the actions of their own citizens to clash with the police. My guns stay here ready to defend my family and community. Whomever comes be it looters or the police will get the same treatment.

I don't feel sorry for Antifa being labeled a terrorist organization. The last time I had the misfortune of seeing them they were protected by the police, threw bricks and molotovs into a peaceful crowd of protestors who had permits, and by the end of it that crowd were labeled terrorists and arrested. To antifa I say: welcome to the club.

What you're seeing right now was coming for a long time. Lots of people warned you to buy guns and to learn how to defend yourself. Lots of people tried to warn you that the police were not here to protect you and indiscriminately abuse their powers by beating the shit out of citizens of all colors and backgrounds. The only difference is when they do it to white folks it doesn't make the national news.

This is just another day of in-fighting in America. Poor people divided by design in-fighting over politics and race. The rich will continue to get richer. The real enemy of the people remains hidden behind all of this and 1,000 other talking points that don't mean anything at the end of the day. Stop focusing on what the media is saying (including the social kind) and start focusing on your own family and friends. Stop believing their lies. You think those "2A people" fully support someone like Trump when most of them wanted him gone the second he banned bump stocks. Same thing with the NRA most "gun people" see them for what they are; a organization designed to separate poor people from their money while giving away the few rights we still have left.

I lurked around some places where the so-called radical right-wingers post this morning. You want to know what they're doing and saying? They're enjoying watching it all burn and they're telling each other not to get involved. They know if they show up to help they'll be assaulted by the violent looters and the police. Then they'll get put on every TV in America and blamed for the violence. These people do not like the Government, they hate the police, they are well armed but they're never coming to help with something like this. No one wants their help and they're already labeled a terrorist organization by everyone in the country. They are going to play it smart, stay in their community, and wait for their chance.

Sorry to double post: I am sad that once again I'll be spending the day washing spray paint off tombstones of people that died over 100 years ago. I will never understand why people want to erase history and desecrate the graves of young men that went to war for rich men. I'm sure I'll be called all sorts of nasty names again like I was the last three times I showed up to clean up after a mob of people that decided to bring spray paint and sledge hammers to the cemetery. These people do not care about history or justice IME. They'll destroy Union graves the same as Confederate graves. They'll call you racist for mowing the grass and don't want to hear that you're just doing it because your family fought on both sides and you want to keep the memory of the war alive so we don't repeat it

Old strategy, don't interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake...

The two sides fighting at the moment beat the living crap out of each other, makes not one iota of difference to someone taking the longer term view, both the sides get weakened show their real natures and make more and more mistakes. For once the right wingers are being sensible and staying the hell out protecting what matters to them. Despicable behaviour by uniform wearing goons has nothing to do with them. They don't really support Trump much anymore and they certainly don't support Alasdair. USA a country divided, under the god of mammon.

For all Trumps bellicose noise he will have been advised that if the US army are deployed onto the streets of the USA adrenaline and lack of discipline will lead them to massacres and murder innocents in the melee, all on live teevee, I don't think the military chain of command would hold under those circumstances. its one thing killing brown people in far off lands out of sight, it is a very different thing on home soil.

US Army on the streets and then it becomes likely the ragtag militias will move because it presses their CoG fear buttons but mostly they don't care about the cities, provoke a response though and all bets are off.

^ somebody present for that photo asked president trump "is that your bible?"

his response? "it's a bible"

this bible-wielding, church-adjacent photo op. is cynical b.s.

alasdair

Photo Op for sure. I'm impressed he knew the book he held was a bible. I'm sure someone prep'd him with that info before the shoot.

Maybe his response was actually "it's a bible?"

In cleveland they have a 24 hr curfew and the police said no exceptions, not even for the press. Constitutional violations anyone?

Constitution provides for safety and well being of the citizens. Enforcement of such curfews, when warranted, is not a violation. Not something anyone wants, but may be necessary at times. Did you feel the lockdown due to COVID was violating any rights?

lmao....irony abounds. Liberals want gone confiscation, and then ask for gun owners to protect them. Rich.

Maybe the left are starting to understand WHY the right wants the 2nd A to protect themselves. Maybe.

Conservative discussions I'm seeing on forums is most often letting Dem states and cities reap what they've sown.

not really. i'm not asking anybody to protect me. i'll live with - and accept responsibility for - the choice i've made to not own a gun.

i've been told, by multiple gun owners, that the primary, even sole, reason for owning a weapon is to fight government tyranny. gwb's torching of the 4th amendment wasn't enough so maybe the president's threat to deploy u.s. troops to the streets of america is enough? i'm trying to understand what level of tyranny is required before those people put their money where their mouth is.

or maybe, you know, there's another explanation and maybe that's the point...
