EADD Heroin thread v.XXV -- a quarter centuary of threads if not yet a full decade since the 'drought'...

Has anyone had trouble with script shortages yet. I've heard rumours that many prescriptions could be affected and are running short. And may need to be prioritised or rationed, but not sure if bullshit or not.
Where i live the whole county is supplying people with 2 weeks worth of their prescription. I will be picking up 14 days worth of 60ml a day methadone when I go the chemist tomorrow. So it appears that there are no shortages of methadone at least.

So anyone got bisto and candle wax yet?

I'd recommend people use this time to get clean. Fuck that. Using is shit.

Yeah. I haven't touched any since that tiny little amount last month. Had a scoring trip planned for Easter weekend, but this is as good an excuse as any not to go .....

Im sure it's bullshit. Scaremongering. Methadone especially is cheap as chips and considered a vital medication by WHO.
I fucking hope! Don't fancy coming off 80ml cold turkey!
I walked into my surgery for the first time since the lockdown began last time I was in 8 days ago and omg its sureal it looks completed different theirs a massive sign "DONT CONE IN IF YOU HAVE CORONA VIRUS" Then this massive glass door thing that they somehow had built in in under 4 days another new one at receotion but she she seen my mask she freaked out because I chose to wear a mask because I dont want to catch this nasty lung flesh eating virus she screamed get out I will get your prescription form 5 mins later she Walked a whole 2 feet to the papers slid under door and I filled in and slipped back I made eye contact and said "jess I will tell the doc I left it with you if he asks" because they like to lose the prescriptions unless the nice ladies are on but yeah seeing my local surgery transformed its like the whole seriousness of this thing hit me like 100% scary times scary times I hope @LoginNotSecure is doing his duty

Nothing that extreme, but taken lots of the chairs in the waiting rooms out and put up divider screens to enforce some distancing. There’s already a glass encasement around the reception because, well the practice is in a rough estate!

Let's hope the government are wrong about it getting so bad in two weeks hopefully everyone staying in doors will clear the virus rate by that time I believe you said you work or worked in the medical field Login?

At the best of times you get dodgy cunts trying to sell bisto.powder as smack and candle wax as crack.

So during a drought it's even more likely to happen as people are desperate. Also it's just bit of a piss take as well.

I do, it's all a bit mad at the moment.

Only 2 people allowed in chemists at a time here, and there's a shortage of pharmacists so opening times are shortened.
I'm worried about the ability to supply the right amount of people's scripts in general.
I hope it doesn't come to that but anything's possible!

So I fucked my back up 12 months ago. I've been taking tramadol ever since. About 150mg each morning along with some paracetamol doesn't eradicate the pain but it is sufficient enough to allow me to carry on working in my office job.

My back pain precludes me from having sex, however, which of course prevents me from having a relationship and this is making me VERY UNHAPPY. The last time I had sex, it wasn't enjoyable because of the pain, and it just further exacerbated my back pain, so I was dealing with 9 out of 10 pain rather than the usual 7 out of 10 pain for the three weeks afterwards.

Anyway, I'm here to ask you what you think of methadone as a pain killer? It gets good reviews on: https://www.drugs.com/comments/methadone/for-chronic-pain.html

Do you think methadone could allow me to live a normal life again? One where pain is reduced and I can have sex in a relationship?

Also, would I be able to start using heroin if I got on methadone? I mean, if I'm gona become dependent on methadone, then I may as well make the most of it, right?

Stop chasing a pill to make your back better. Have you been to see a physiotherapist? If so, did you stick to the advice given? Have you tried alternative non opiate based medication? Naproxen? You really need to address the issue rather than just hoping for a pill to mask the pain. There are a great many a pill to mask the issue, but often, there is a more simple resolution.

I have L4/L5 disc protrusion. I've spent in excess of £2000 on MRI's, physios and chiropractors. I've gone to Pilates classes. I was initially given Naproxen and it didn't make a blind bit of difference, nor did the physio. The physio was a massive rip-off, to be honest.

My doctor gave me tramadol for a short while and then declined to give me any more. So I now get it from the 'darkweb'. Without the tramadol I would be screwed. I'd have lost my job months ago, and I'd have ended up dealing with Nazi's at the job centre that would have assumed that I was feigning the back pain as a means of avoiding work.

This hasn't been going on for 3 weeks, it's been going on for over a year now. If there was a more simple resolution, I'd have tried it, and I wouldn't be asking for advice on how effective methadone is as a painkiller.

I get you Stone - I’ve been living with chronic back pain for over 25 years and the only reliable and inexpensive method I’ve found is codeine/dhc and regular daily stretching. My doc recites the NICE guidelines on long term opiate use for chronic pain which I’m familiar with and seems to think a lot of it is ‘in my head’. While I agree a lot of it could well be, does he have a way of taking it out of my head? No. Considering I used to be an iv heroin user I think I’ve not done too bad to now be steady on the lower strength stuff. There are days I literally hobble about and can’t look after my kids properly and funnily enough, a moderate dose of codeine fixes that.

Ask to see/referred to a pain specialist if you haven’t already, but you’ll be put in touch with a physiotherapist along side PMS.
