no, the initial push in was fine - I was there in 2004 and Kabul was peaceful af, though there was still instability in outer regions like Kandahar and Herat. the problem was that we got stuck playing nation building when we should have basically bailed after Karzai was elected; figuring out the best way to run their government is on them, we should have only had small teams of advisers left and little else within a year or 2 of Karzai's inauguration. that Karzai too turned out to be.... not ideal isn't on us, we accomplished what we intended from the beginning, retaliate and oust the Taliban and help them set up a new interim government, and that should have been thatWe also severely underestimated the number of people necessary for the first push in. In my opinion.
