There's also violence from technology, which includes things like assault rifles.

We are going down bloody in the end, no matter which way you look at it.

That behaviour is as ancient as Tasmanian devils, it is the cancer that is new. The problem with it is that the population of Tasmanian devils has declined significantly due to human activity, leaving it extremely vulnerable to new illlnesses which decimate isolated populations, such as this cancer. Natural selection is not going to preserve an ancient feeding behaviour if it leads to death and disease in the rates that it is, but behaviour is inflexible and takes many generations to become fixed or unfixed. Tassie devils haven't had the chance to change and the limited numbers means that any loss hits harder leading to something like a species-centric death spiral.

I dunno, I don't see many analogies between human warlike nature and animal feeding behaviour or even animal territorial behaviour. Humans live in a realm of ethics as well, we have intentions and Tasmanian devils bite each other when feeding purely by accident. Humans are particularly aggressive intentionally and that is why we are so widespread. Its also why we have high powered weapons AND why those weapons are particularly risky. We have no qualms about using them, no overarching morality or biological drive to control their use and ideas that guns=freedom is just indoctrination by lobbying groups who have purchased the majority of American's opinions on the matter.

That said, imagine a highly evolved, self-aware felid species and the absolute horror that a governing body of intelligent cat-like beings would wreak on the earth/galaxy/reality had they developed technology and civilisation in the way a hominid species has.

It (MS) will not stop but be more prevalent regardless.

No. The problem can't go away because of the nature of intelligent life. That was my assertion.

There's things we can do to limit the absurdity and what not but most people are concerned with all-or-nothing proposals and Massacre Mitch doesn't want to let BIPARTISAN legislation hit the floor. BIPARTISAN.

This is how you know the Republicans have lost all power. It's not THE SQUAD coming to ban all guns, people reached across the aisle to try to reduce senseless violence and Mitch is like I DON'T CARE KILL 'EM ALL FUCK 'EM are you serious.

Just let the legislation hit the floor. Too many repubs in senate = won't pass.

And if it does, Trump will veto it.

Trying to follow your logic, I'm not sure if I have this right:

1) Gun problems won't go away due to the single nature of intelligent life.

2) Mitch McConnell is preventing any reduction of senseless violence from gun problems.

Therefor, Mitch McConnell is intelligent life.
 
1) Nature is complex there is no "single nature"; the tendency for intelligent life to be self-destructive and destroy other lifeforms is literally what I said.

2) Massacre Mitch is preventing HR-8, bipartisan legislation, from hitting the floor. 0 progress, 0 fucks given for all those shooting victims. Not even trying.

Republican hypocrisy: "AOC should make legislation" yeah well BRING bipartisan legislation to the floor, dumbass, let a vote happen. We may actually save lives, and if not, we'll see what did/didn't work and we'll shape better legislation.

Yes, he is an example of intelligent life which has tendencies to be self-destructive and/or destroy other life forms.

Sure, he's not gong out on a shooting rampage, but by essentially enabling every other mass shooter, you're playing negative responsibility to a dangerous degree. It was wrong of him to block the bill. IMO.

I feel there are two types of mass shootings we see. Every day ho hum "fuck you" shootings with easily definable motives and chain of events. Then sensationalized "lone wolf" shootings in crowded public places, which somehow tend to be mostly white males. 75% vs 25%, and yet what does the media report?

In a related note, as I am going to assume most will view public bombings in the same category of mass shooters.

What the public should be looking at is the fact that the FBI gave our son the means to make this happen. He has no job, no money, no vehicle, and no driver’s license, due to the fact that he is schizophrenic and we; his parents do everything we can possible to keep him safe and functional. The mental health system has consistently failed us due to the lack of establishments and health care coverage for a person like him. He has attended college and just enrolled in welding school. His medications allow him to be somewhat functional but he will never be completely functional in life. His brain does not work like a normal person and never will due to the nature of his mental illness. He has suffered through countless serious full-blown schizophrenic delusional episodes and he has been put in numerous mental hospitals since he was 16 years old. The FBI came and picked him up from our home, they gave him a vehicle, gave him a fake bomb, and every means to make this happen none of which he had access to on his own. We know who their informant is and what the public should know is that he is that a drug-dealing criminal. On June 15, 2017, Jerry’s Father told the criminal informant “that he was not allowed back on our property and if he returned we would have him arrested for trespassing and drugs”. Apparently, he continued to sneak onto our residence. The FBI paid him to continue this operation and I believe they have cleared his criminal record.

Honestly, I wasn't criticising capitalism but specifically the American form of it. The culture of the American dream- isn't it about the power of the individual to write their own destiny? What if you have zero bankable power and no better future but lots of guns- what sort of Destiny could you make if you were inclined? It only takes a few disempowered folks staggering under the impetus of a sociocultural need for achievement and prestige and a shit load of Freedom-Enforcement-Devices to kinda go, well, I do have power and I'm going to load more of it up and use it.

A totally unquantifiable argument and your summary was spot on in it's brevity but missed the mark- many countries are capitalist, some have guns too but no other country has the massacres. So what's different about yours?

I'm Australian and we also have a pretty pathetic prevailing culture but here it is the underachiever. Australians most value people who don't try too hard to be successful or stand out. We cut down high achievers as arrogant and even feel a bit embarrassed by their success. It's about being laconic and unassuming to a terminal degree. It is in fact a stereotype that I am repeating but this is one summary of the culture of Australia, and it contributes to a lot of problems here imo inasmuch as it is vaguely related to something real and tangible. To what degree are the mass shootings of the U.S. attributable to some cultural trope in the way Aussie cultural memes contribute to Australias perennial runners up position? I'm curious as well why the U.S. has so many more serial killers than any other country too, I feel like it's the other side of the coin.

Please forgive my vagueness here, and I'm not trying to insult American's, I'm just thinking there are may be some different explanations for gun violence in the states.
