Mental Health Coming off Invega Sustenna (Paliperidone) v3

Hey hey, I'm an unwilling user of Invega Sustenna twice recovered. I was on a high dose of Sustenna for just shy of two years with that final injection a little over 5 years ago, and I received a once-and-done injection again 3 years ago. I had a full-blown mental episode last year. I now take Haldol in form of depot shot per my request, because that means no chasing pills down during the day. I would consider trying Invega in a small dose in pill form, but I am so tired of dealing with the weight gain it causes me. I always have to wait until the med completely clears my system before I am able to begin losing any weight, and that goes for Haldol as well. Thankfully, I gain less than 10 lbs from Haldol whereas Risperdal and Invega cause me to gain 20+ lbs. It was once explained to me that drugs such as Risperdal and Invega are like an antipsychotic and mood stabilizer combined, whereas a drug like Haldol is moreso just an antipsychotic. In taking Haldol, I do suffer some mental/mood discomfort, but weight gain is my #1 concern when taking medications and I therefore choose to struggle a bit (not add a mood stabilizer) so that I am able to have a lower body weight. Haldol has been enough to keep me out of the hospital for the last year, and I am thankful for that. Effects of drugs/medications can last even after the drug has gone, but in the event this may be of use in offering hope /optimism: it takes me 7, 7 1/2 months after my final shot of Sustenna before I am able to begin losing weight, even if I have received only one injection.

I can't think of anything worse than abilify. It's a poor choice of words, but what began as someone merely calling my name in the distance escalated to a mental disorder that only seems to bring delusion with it in the case of antipsychotics being administered. i wish I had the courage to talk about a bad acid trip sooner, than later.

I got these weird brown spots on my face and forehead from taking Invega. Anyone experience the same? Has anything worked to remove them?

I've read about cases of people getting hepatitis from invega so if I was you I'd go check it out.

Hi everyone, my cognitions, concentration and personality seem to be improving steadily, the absolute worst thing is this anxious, unsettled feeling in my stomach that won’t seem to shift. Has anyone else had experience with this? If so, how long did it last and any ideas how to get rid of it?

Thanks,

Hopeful

Good news ALL. I cannot wait my court case is in 6 weeks times. I cannot wait to meet the arseholes "janssen-cilag pty ltd" lawyers. I have asked for $50,000 compensation and lost of wages. I will be asking for a "injunction" to remove Invega Sustenna from the shelves here in Australia pending more investigation into long term side effects.
Hey Daniel how long did your deppresion last for? I saw your YouTube video and I can't believe u tried 5 different ssris at Max dose an none of them helped you. Hello!
My partner has been in the shot for 13years
And the past 2 years we have been tapering off her Invega sustenna from 234mg
Her last shot was 78mg and that was about a couple months ago
Terrible withdrawals we are experiencing
Something like uncontrollable akathasia that turns into psychosis
And sensitivity in all the body with fear
Taking Benadryl wipes always the akathasia even the psychosis experienced from the akathasia unmanaged
Any advice!
We are pretty terrified by this
And hope we are doing the right thing to get off the shot..
She was doing amazing with each shot reduction

We were on the 78mg for about 8months before we decided to cold turkey it..
We have shilajit,CBD ,muscle relaxer,Benadryl and lions mane as our herbal allies along with adaptogenic herbs..
With sleep aid that has l trytophan...
Hello everybody!
Any success stories coming off?
What should we expect?

We don’t feel like the psychosis brought on by akathasia is enough evidence to prove for schizophrenia...
More like a withdrawal psychosis to us...

Try Valium

@Rodney818 Hey man, I was experiencing terrible akathisia too for the first 2-3 months off the shot, I took biperiden for it and it helped aswell, but I only had 2 shots instead of 13 years of shots :S Akathisia was the worst part in my opinion, I literally couldn't sit or stand still for more than 2 seconds or I'd go crazy. The feeling cannot be described. CBD will speed up the detoxifying process by activating p-glycoproteins which shuttle foreign drugs out from brain cells but in your case I'm not sure if that's good since she's been on the drug for so long, so it could just make withdrawal worse, not sure though. And lion's mane stimulates adulthood neurogenesis, so if her brain got damaged by invega, it could somewhat repair the damage. And yes you're doing the right thing by getting her off the shot, I have no clue how she made it through all these 13 years, she a tough one! I almost killed myself after having just 2 shots.

Yess
Thank you..
The psychiatrist is a nut
My partner is doing amazing with great discipline
She goes to the gym
Eats healthy
She’s very organized
Likes to read study and learn things
She has great habits
This was with even at 78mg
This is really why we didn’t need it
Her psychiatrist is a quack!
She doesn’t even care to ask how she is doing
Or the positive things that are going with her in her life
She’s like so negative and just wants her to be on the shot...
We even asked if we can get a 39mg shot to help detox
But she wasn’t about it
That’s why we are quitting cold turkey now from 78mg which is still pretty low...
We have faith that she is going to do better without it...
Our big concern is that her “schizophrenia “
Will come back
But we feel like she was misdiagnosed...
So here we are
Currently really stresses and a mess from the withdrawals of taking care of her
The biggest struggles would be
Severe akathasia Dystonia, depression and when akathasia goes unmanaged to psychosis
She’s also experiencing immense sensitivity in her body
She’s sensitive to sound and touch and energy..
We don’t know if this is what they call dopamine sensitivity due to dopamine flooding her brain since the cold turkey..
We take a Benadryl though and it helps a lot with it
All the medicines we have ,have been helping tremendously with the withdrawals..
Anyways
Anybody going through something similar?
Does anybody know a forum of people coming off successfully?
We need inspiration and motivation
Our story is pretty motivating in the sense that she was doing amazing on 78mg
Which is really low
The biggest crap is the extrapyramidal side effects...

@Rodney818 EPS are caused by deficiency of dopamine in the brain, basically like drug-induced parkinsonism. I found bupropion very helpful during my recovery. It blocks the reuptake of dopamine so the antagonized receptors have more free dopamine to work with. It helped with depression, anxiety, insomnia and many more side effects that invega caused me. I really recommend trying it.

She was taking l dopa (mucuna)
We felt that was a bad idea
Because of her dopamine sensitivity..
What do you think about that?
It was way too much..
It sent her into psychosis
I look up online
And supposibly dopamine starts flooding the brain after you get off APs..
