Donald Trump Likens His Schooling to Military Service in Book

Donald J. Trump, who received draft deferments through much of the Vietnam War, told the author of a coming biography that he nevertheless “always felt that I was in the military” because of his education at a military-themed boarding school.

Mr. Trump said his experience at the New York Military Academy, an expensive prep school where his parents had sent him to correct poor behavior, gave him “more training militarily than a lot of the guys that go into the military.”

I'm not sure I want the most powerful military ever to exist being lead by someone who's sole military experience was being sent to a "military themed" prep school because of his poor behavior.

And to think he believes he got more training from that than guys who went to the actual military. Something he has no first hand experience of to compare to anyway.

Which is my whole problem with Trump. At least someone with no military experience at all might still have the wisdom to listen to their military advisers. I'd much prefer that to a guy who looks at the military and goes.. "pfft, I already know everything there is to know about the military, I'll have you know I was sent to a prep school for misbehaving kids!"

So, as many of us saw firsthand and we now have the CIA and FBI chiming in....Russia and other countries did invest in dividing this country by financially funding both pro-BLM (remember them?) and anti-BLM groups in the same town. Remember during the run-up to the election when the West Coast had massive internet outages and thousands were re-named on FB as 'deceased' and etc etc etc.

Does anyone really think all that was a 'one off'? That we won't see more and worse online trolling ...yknow...now and getting worse leading up to the 2020 election? I don't think it's just Russia but I remember being on The_Donald and just...yeah. If you posted something pro-Russia, it got upvoted for sure, lol. Anyways, thanks Russia!

Hope they do better this time so maybe I can vote D. Maybe.

P.S. Oh yeah, so ....does anyone really think HRC or Jeb! would've sat back and allowed the experiment of the states to play out? Serious question. I don't but maybe I'm wrong? HRC, the DINo who just assumed the presidency was her's because she grafted her way to the top. loool

This is what rational discourse looks like. And I concur with alasdairm; merely serving in military school does not qualify him to lead the military whatsoever. I too disagree with pete's claims.

Marijuana legalization, which I've been an activist for going on 20+ years, is not larger than the president.

Shall I explain how laws are made in the US for you? Edit: or the ways an administration can crush a bill before it gets to the governor's desk, etc?

well i think Jeb and hcr or whorver aint republican has lost a lot of power with trump maybe enough to make them completey irrelevent

Im always proud to be British every moment of everyday not in a were better than you but we did take over half the world so must have something ahead of the curb no its the history not just the wars but everything little England had a pressence in everywhere we could have took over america in the war of independence if we really wanted to but it wasn't worth the casualties good job you had such a massive firearms market

The braggadocious attitude regarding this reality is unsightly to most of us here.

To then claim "so we must be doing something right" is a hasty generalization. It might be that the world was just easy pickings back then. And now the reason why the UK is a mess and owns so little is that the world grew a backbone.

I used the word history Captain heroin refering to 'history Well its not bragging is it its true dont you the sun never sets on the empire what has that offended you somehow can you not take greatness, dont you like to take pride in your countries achievements you did beat us in the war of independence il give you that one but i see my opinion and me generally are not wanted in this thread

you're making claims and refusing to back them up. you're mocking people and also condescending. consider that the responses you are getting may simply mirror the stuff you are posting?

i welcome you and your opinion to the forum - diversity of perspective is important. but try to bear in mind that, when you post, it's an implicit invitation to others to comment, criticise and offer counterpoint. if you can't handle that, or somehow feel that somebody simply disagreeing with you is some kind of attack, then this forum (indeed the internet generally) may not be the place for you.
