CEPS Meme and Satire Megathread v2019

If women in burkas really aren't allowed to be searched, then that's absurd and dangerous. Is that actually true?

I googled it and what I found suggests that they are allowed to request private screenings with women TSA agents, but that they are not exempt from searching. It seems that meme has caused a lot of confusion (which is why I dislike memes sometimes, they're great misinformation vehicles - for example the AOC memes above that make her appear to have said insanely stupid things. There are ones making Trump appear to have said things he didn't also).

I believe you are correct - they can request a private screening from a female TSA, just like grandma's and anyone else, even white men who prefer to have a private screening from a male TSA. Memes are making fun of reality, and often they do misprepresent things, but less to incite than to poke fun. Though, I'm sure there are folks who use them solely to incite. I don't mind that, in fact I like that it tasks us to challenge what we hear and say in normal life as being true or not - and, at least in this forum, we have threads to discuss issues, idiots, and statements or policies that are true and need to be challenged; while in this thread, reality is optional so we shouldn't take them seriously.

I have always loved that Lincoln one, and think I've seen similar from Mark Twain.

I agree that it does invite an opportunity to delve into whether something is true or not, but unfortunately a lot of people do not do this, and so the memes that exist with false facts and false quotes (there are so many, too) are really only serving to further hatred and division between the sides, in many people. I fully believe they're being used that way on purpose, too.

I didn't realize there was a quota system in place on how many posts per day was appropriate. Sorry if I took someone else's share of the day's meme allotment.

Bottom right is Dr. Ford, brought in to accuse SCOTUS nominee Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her 30y ago at a high school party. Media ran with it, the left was outraged (to include plenty of ineffective shouting at the hearings), though no evidence was ever found that the event happened (her witnesses denied it happened), much less that if it happened it was Kavanaugh who did it. Many people still believe Kavanaugh did it despite a lack of anything to support the accusation.

Top is a Native American who claimed he was peacefully rallying when some white HS tourist kid in a MAGA hat started harassing him with racial slurs. Again, media picked it up and ran, and many on the left were outraged, some to the point of tweeting out for the kids names and addresses to be doxxed so they could be publicly harassed - one teacher even provided info on a kid, but it turned out to be the wrong kid. Video evidence later showed the Native American was being harassed by racist remarks from some Black descendants of Israel or something, and that the Native American WENT TO the innocent white kids waiting for their bus and got in THEIR face as if to provoke them (not even the people who were, in fact harassing him). Video also showed the kids had great restraint in doing NOTHING, and had done NOTHING to invite the confrontation. No retraction from the left who called for their doxxing. There is a lawyer who has picked it up and is seeking to sue for slander the media and left who were after these innocent kids. Turns out the Native American had a history of poor behaviour, and this was one chance to get national attention with a false accusation. TBH, I thought we'd have had a thread here, but I can't find it.

Bottom left is Jussie Smollett, who has a thread going here where he claimed to be attacked by two white guys in MAGA hats the middle of late night Chicago, where they poured bleach on him and called him homophobic and racial slurs. Thus far, the closest the police have come is two Nigerian brothers, friends of Smollett, who seem to have bought the rope at Ace hardware, and absolutely no evidence to support Smollett's claims. This one is still under investigation, but no evidence as yet, and the charge of filing a false report is as likely as finding two white perps. Again, media ran with it and the left tweeted outrage about the attack, meanwhile rational minds wait for facts before reacting with feelings.

Point of the meme is these three created great emotional outrage at being wronged by Trump, Trump supporters, or in one case a Trump nominee. None of them were proven to be true (again Smollett's situation is still being investigated). The media will run with a false allegation before finding the facts, and the left will jump behind those headlines with emotional outrage. Facts may come later, and if they counter the accusations, there is no apology or retraction, we just move on to the next fabricated outrage.

Thank you! I knew about the Kavanaugh accusation but hadn't seen pics of his accuser. Never heard of the other incidents though I've heard of others - seems to be a common way the left tries to undermine the right.

LOL @ your 'meme/post allotment' comment. =D

I think there's some truth to this, unfortunately.

while I can somewhat agree with the sentiment, you should remind yourself that marxism/socialism/communism/whatever is not about being against the production and trade of products but rather criticizing the reality that the people who own the means of production (aka capitalists) get a significant share of the value the actual workers produced, just because they had capital in the first place. in todays economy, company owners and ceos don't only get paid the value they themselves produced but also a significant part of what the workers contributed to the company. thus being an employee under the capitalist paradigm is inherently being exploited.
