US Politics The Mueller Investigation - report is out

i have evidence to back up my perspective too but you (plural) tend to just poohpooh it :\

i this this is emblematic of the kind of stuff that gives 'your side' a bad name. when people accuse you of trolling, it's stuff like this i expect they have in mind.

i don't have the same problem, generally, with jgrimez. while i disagree with his (i assume) position on many issues, for the most part he tends to make well-considered arguments, substantiated with links to credible resources.

alasdair

Sadly that’s the truth, I was discussing this with a friend last night. If the democrats had any sort of underlying message or platform it would be easier to see their side. Stormy, Russia, and impeach trump is there message, and it isn’t very inspiring. Sorry if it seems offensive, but you know I’m a brass tacks kind of guy. What would you say the DNCs general message is? Genuine question, believe it or not there are some local dems I’m considering voting for atm

Imo a lot of the trolling is a reaction to many on the Left who moralize with a holier-than-thou attitude.

I'm generalizing but today's Right view the Left like they are wrong.
The Left view the Right like they are beneath them.

Ditto except in reverse dear. <SNIP>

Clear to see as not leaning either way, all pollies are liars.

What an incredibly ignorant comment.
Does going to law school make someone honest?

you're right that going to law school doesn't mean someone will be honest. but it is definitely not "incredibly ignorant" to think that the odds are in favor of the guy that went to law school instead of the guy that gets his news from 4chan.

The DNC has zero message other than “resist Trump”.
if you're willfully ignorant perhaps?

the dnc updates its platform every 4 years. last one was in 2016 and is right on their website. if only there was some computer 'engine' that could 'search' the internet when you type in a clue like "dnc platform", then show you results that match :\

No worries mate, but no thanks- smods can ref this sort of thing without the drama in tech support.

The investigation is over so kinda meh on this topic. Hes lied worse about Iran since so its extraordinary the amount of focus put on insignificant things hes done in comparison. This whole thing seems silly

^ Thanks for understanding. :) You know the ropes quite well.

Unfortunately, an important part of the Mueller investigation is the attempt to interfere with elections. Not just with social media, but hacking into voter registration databases, for example.

The reason for me that the conspiracy and obstruction of justice investigation foci are interesting are because of the legal and political issues arising from it. It's also the only source of accurate information just now.

(I don't believe anything except the original documentation submitted to the courts.)

However, speculation based on the comments by individuals who have testified in the probe are interesting, as are FBI actions.

Issues like exercising executive privilege, the FISA warrant process, grand jury proceedings, etc. are cool to learn about, although a bit dry, admittedly.

Trump is waging a political battle, Mueller is clearly not. I'm not sure who will flourish, but this investigation is about a lot more than Trump. It needs to be done, imo.

Plus I think Trump is filthy dirty and there's no way he didn't commit some serious legal violations before, during, and after the campaign that are heinous. And I hope he and his cohort get put through the wringer and indicted or in Trump's case, impeached. I think Trump is acting like he's dodging a bullet because there is at least one bullet.

And Rudy Giuliani is just astounding.

Yeah but your tone implied I shouldn't even be discussing this as I'm obviously wrong or uninformed since I didn't go to law school (plus the 4chan insult)

You'd be surprised what you can learn from the internet..

Plus I think Trump is filthy dirty and there's no way he didn't commit some serious legal violations before, during, and after the campaign that are heinous.

Doing that would have made him an easy target for removal.
I'm more inclined to believe that he knew he was relatively clean, and objectively that's true so far as his opponents have not found any evidence of any serious wrongdoing.

but hacking into voter registration databases

I actually really hope they properly investigate electoral fraud.

Here is the post I made:

And he knows law better than someone that went to law school apparently, too

Not sure how you picked up tone so well via text. I didn't use any colorful phrases like "incredibly ignorant" in relation to you. Just tried to get at that I would be inclined to believe the guy that went to law school.

All things remaining equal, one guy went to law school, one didn't, and the debate is about the law -- I'm going to tend to believe the lawyer.

Just like if we were talking about global warming I'd believe a climatologist more.

Or if we were talking about mental illness I'd believe a psychiatrist more.

Or if we were talking about distant solar systems I'd believe an astronomer more.

Etc etc etc

If this is insulting to you then IDK what to tell ya.

If this is insulting to you then IDK what to tell ya.

It was just a dumb comment.
You're probably more inclined to believe him because you have some interest in <SNIP>.

This debate is not just about the law. Because if said lawyer didn't understand the finer details of the case then his knowledge of the law wouldn't help when discussing it.
This is also about the military, it's about handling classified information, it's about IT, servers, cloud storage, psychology, recognizing deception, government corruption etc

So I may not know the intricacies of the law better than him, but it's apparent that I have a stronger sense of justice.

Wasn't this whole investigation based on alleged claims of Russians hacking the DNC?

Mystery in Mueller probe: Where's the hacking indictment?
http://thehill.com/policy/cybersecu...n-mueller-probe-wheres-the-hacking-indictment

In the year since the start of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, one thing has been notably absent: a public indictment of any Russians for the hacking of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

Mueller has charged President Trump’s former campaign chief, secured guilty pleas from several individuals in Trump’s orbit and indicted 13 Russians for an elaborate plot to leverage social media to influence the American electorate.

But the special counsel has yet to announce charges for the hacking of the DNC, even though the intelligence community and private cybersecurity experts linked the attack to the Russian government more than a year ago. Legal experts say there are several possible explanations.

“[The reasons] can range from, there’s no evidence of any known individuals, to publicly announcing the indictment would compromise other aspects of the investigation” said Mark Zaid, a Washington-based attorney specializing in national security.

I wonder if Mueller is going to investigage the Shera Bechard payoff.

Broidy has cooperated with investigators before, and there's plenty of smoke around the Shera Bechard affair. Mueller is already apparently investigating the Stephanie Clifford payoff. The Shera Bechard payoff seems to also be relevant.

Evgeny Freidman, Michael Cohen's business partner, has already flipped. Elliot Broidy has a past history of flipping. If the "David Danielson" who paid off Shera Bechard is actually Trump, then Cohen must be sweating.

You know... if Russia hacked the DNC, wouldn't that mean the DNC didn't work with them? Hacking is a theft against an entity, not a partnership with it.

^ the point is that they didn't.

Still got no evidence after how long?
It was most likely Seth Rich that leaked the DNC's emails to Wikileaks, and was then murdered for it.

is it just me, or is trump cracking?

every time i check out some world news, or hear the latest shallow tabloid beat-up, i kinda brace myself for the news that trump has been charged, been committed to a secure mental health ward, resigned or dropped dead. i don't seek out trump tales in the media or anthing like that, but they're so hard to avoid.

anyway, his "poitical career" just keeps getting more precarious and untenable each day.
i saw a tv clip of him a couple of days ago, and he looks like shit. i mean, more than usual...

if i were to hazard a guess, i'd suggest that he might have finally worked out how completely screwed he and his family are - and his lawyer and all the people associated with trump's campaign etc are totally and utterly fucked.
i might be wrong, of course - but he knows the heat is closing in on him. :)

I believe he's beginning to realize he's in way over his head and no one who could help him really wants to (I'm talking about a good "TV attorney" and some serious PR/image consultants who know D.C.).

When Kudlow, Bolton and Giuliani are your bench, it's time to panic.
