Any other country? You're kidding yourself if you don't think other countries have exactly these same discussions. The US is hardly even the most open country around. To be honest I kinda think of this whole thing as a bit of a nonissue. Not an entirely non-issue, but far from a particularly pressing concern. I tend to classify it in with many other issues that exist more in peoples imaginations than reality. Just my opinion.

I think it’s the big picture to those that look at the ledger^ it’s easy to be a spectator but government services aren’t free and it results in billions with welfare, police, border, emergency room, etc services. It’s not fair to the illegals not is it fair to the cirizens of the country.

Just to let you know, I have a pet peeve, a sure fire way to immediately lose me is to suggest "it's not fair". That's not really a thought out counter argument, just a small protest on my part cause I hate complaints of "that's not fair".
My real counter argument is that I don't see military border patrols or a giant fucking wall being particularly cheap, and that's gonna undo a lot of any savings made. I'm amenable to the cost saving argument provided the costs saved are substantial, but I'm far from convinced they are when compared to the cost of enforcement, not to mention other economic impacts. And arguing it as a matter of principle is where you lose me again, fuck the principle, the government justifies too much bullshit and waste and bad policy on "principle" as it is. The war on drugs is a war on principle. If you wanna talk money then either it saves money or it doesn't, and unless it saves a LOT of money, as net savings I mean, then I'd be wondering why we're focusing on convenient scapegoats over much more substantial savings we could make. Either it's about money or it isn't.

To me it's just a stunt to appeal to resentful simpletons. Nothing more, nothing less. A fake solution to a fake problem, conjured up by a pretend president.
Another stunt, another distraction, and more money being pissed up the wall by an idiot who found himself president and has absolutely no idea what he's doing.

Trump's only political skills are empty hype and distraction - and he's in such deep shit that this is a pathetically desperate move. Even for him.
If he thinks a bunch of destitute, unarmed people moving towards the border justifies deploying the military, you know he wouldn't hesitate to implement martial law if he was sufficiently motivated (read: desperate) to do so.
The guy's a fucking moron - to quote Tillerson - and it's equally moronic to praise his bullshit stunts.
Not that anyone really expects a nuanced debate from the trump crowd, but christ almighty, you lot sure are desperate to show what a great guy president dotard is.

Trump is so thirsty that he had to say military troops instead of the National Guard.
You would think all the "they're taking our guns" folks would perhaps be alarmed that federal troops were being dispatched South, but I guess posse comitatus isn't important to Trump supporters. Or maybe they just missed that day in class?
This whole "caravan" nonsense shows what Trump looks like unchained with unqualified advisers. They might just be outright unqualified, or they are in the wrong role (see new VA head, basically a physician who is now in charge of the second-largest bureaucracy after the Pentagon. Good luck dude,)
Trump apparently also tried to steal some money directed to the military for his stupid wall.
Mattis must be feeling the strain. Or at least being glum that as a four star general he has to explain why federal troops can't guard the border to Trump and why Trump can't "reallocate" military funds to his precious wall.
Congress at least seems to realize he's no longer useful after the tax bill and it's time for midterms. I just hope Congress flips into gridlock. I favor gridlock most of the time.

The plan is to use some of that for the wall since it is an issue of national security.
