CEPS Well Hung Parliament (CEPS Social/Off Topic)

Fuck Christmas until it bleeds.

SKL, I wanted to make a list of things you DON'T hate. Struggling ;) :D

I do find the current idealistic outrage actively fostered by the left a bit half baked. All of these social and political issues mean jack shit if our planet erases us. I guess we try to deal with what we actually can. Create an inclusive society on an ill rock suspended in a black void. We are fucking cooked.

Thank god for drugs!! :D

YES! You're getting it. The Democrat party in the US, for instance, playing the identity politics and race resentment and LGBTQWTF etc fiddle while everything burns … which is 100% why Donald Trump won the presidency, because fly-over state regular working Americans, and not even just White ones, are tired of that bullshit when they're struggling to make ends meet and getting fucked over left right and center by a postmodern neoliberal economic system that structurally stacks the deck against them. I have a hell of a lot more in common with the old fashioned left than I do with the establishment, and likewise. We're teetering on the brink and maybe the only thing that will bring us back is a Red-Green-Brown alliance that just says fuck the bullshit and take the world back from the wicked international system that's running shit now. Get rid of the Beast-system and then sort out the rest.

^ These Are A Few Of My FAVORITE THINGS.

But I agree with SKL on this one point, marijuana should be decriminalized so we don't kill the industry that is there now.

I used to work in the slightly gray edible production for dispensaries (in Canada) but it will be only commercial major players in the future. I'm hoping I can find a small restaurant/food service provider that is looking for upscale work. I make more money as a professional baker than I used to make doing edibles but my heart was in that trade. The hard part is going to be switching jobs and maintaining income.

There is something profoundly satisfying about watching someone who is suffering from ptsd get their life back with your help.

There is still hope for you SKL, I never became a pot head til my fifties and actually campaigned against it vocally for about 10 years of my adult life. Thanks to my own ptsd issue I'm on the other side of the fence now.

Decriminalization of mj is a first step for many. Colorado did it in 2005-2006.

truly in the Christmas spirit
You know what I wanted as a kid during Christmas that I couldn't really ask for? A Dreidel. That shit looked FUN.

Seriously. They get to play gambling games while we sing holy night smh.

True story.

Love me some cannabis.
I wish Australia would legalise. From a HR perspective as much as anything else...

Human rights is exactly why it should be legalized. Medicine and relaxant for the masses. The idea that humans should remain criminals for using or possessing or transferring cannabis because this benefits the drug dealers is about as way-out a concept I've ever heard. About as crazy as a drug war in general.

Edit: I'm all for cannabis stamps. The money the police and government save when they stop prosecuting the drug war can be handed back on a convenient debit card with funds to be redeemed for ounces of cannabis at a time. Some places find this actually discourages the use of 'hard drugs.'

Could marijuana solve Colombia’s crack cocaine problem?

That’s the hope of city officials in Bogota, who are contemplating a novel solution to a dangerous drug epidemic.

BBC Mundo reports that the city is planning a system of “controlled consumption centers,” where addicts could be weaned off more hard-core drugs, such as heroin or crack, and slowly introduced to pot.

O.o should parents be granted 'post term' abortion rights to help thin the masses?

They could trot out excuses like "It was showing early signs of being defective", "Under my roof, Under my law".

Merry Christmas!

has to be fake [unless I really have lost faith in the facebook generation] but kind of amused me

I was quite bored last night, and came up with what might be a fun idea for CE&P, instead of arguing back and forth super heated-like. A sort of contest in creating visual propaganda for your own very specific political beliefs. This came about, again, out of boredom, and my enjoyment of rather enjoy my amateurish efforts at graphic design, and thinking about politics. So I made a few, for a completely imaginary national-syndicalist group, the American Resistance Movement for Tradition and Economic Justice, the sort of thing that I would endorse if it existed and were remotely plausible. I did several versions of this. This is the least elaborate, but probably the best, although I favor also the medium sized one under the spoiler tag with individual contrasting bolts, too, at least in concept.

Something less elaborate, of course, fits the current fashion in political imagery, some abstraction of this, but every element here has specific meaning. Lots of symbolism, some obvious, some not. The basic image is of a factory, in American colors, talking about bringing back jobs, and national self-sufficiency, along with resistance/overthrow of bourgeois capitalism and neoliberalism while maintaining the foundations of traditional society with traditional values although radically changing it's structure and governance (the bolts represent power, of course, especially in the first and last images under the spoiler tag.)

It could be a contest. Who can design the best graphics for an imaginary political platform, or visual propaganda in general?

Of course I'll reiterate none of this actually exists, but I found it a fun way to pass an hour or two in the ass middle of the night.

I made a few other variations basically incorporating the same imagery.

some of these are quite unpolished. they are all variations of the same thing using mostly the same symbolism but sometimes express slightly more, or less, than others.

^ the original effort, which I like, especially the contrasting bolt imagery (the placement of the bolts is symbolically important as well) but isn't quite as visually neat as the one I posted above, and I don't want the gun imagery to be misunderstood ... see below ... the smoke is not intended to represent the gun being fired but represents the smoke from an active factory, with the gun in place of the smokestack so as to incorporate that image into the piece itself in a natural and aesthetically appealing manner.

^ basically the same as the first one above the tag but with including the gun imagery (which is suggestive not only of the right to bear arms and of revolution, but of the idea that "power flows through the barrel ..." the Cross emanating from the gun is not suggesting that Christianity emanates from the gun but the Cross's appearance in the clouds is more of a reference to the Constantine's conversion experience at the Bridge of Milvia, if there's any association at all, but perhaps most of all, the gun just visually replaces the smokestack as I wanted to fit in this imagery as well and it does so neatly there.

^ this last one is really too busy, and also looks in a style fit more for half a century or considerably more ago but I really like the black lightning bolts and the sphere, and wanted to balance things visually while keeping all of the iconography intact

inb4 the ADL lists them as hate symbols

personally i think abortions should be allowed all the way up until the 40th trimester.

in all seriousness though, if people respected self-sovereignty this would never be an issue. dictating what people can and cant do with their own bodies requires taking away self-sovereignty, that means you dont own your own body if you dont have full control over it at all times and full bodily autonomy. and whats that word, the one that means your body is owned by somebody else? its on the tip of my tongue...
