2016 American Presidential Campaign

Agree drop', it took me a while before I could post here again because it hurt thinking about it.

I just read it and it's... horrific. It's the type of stuff that makes you feel bad for being the same species as the people in the story.

But, I don't think that people are condoning rape culture by voting for him. At least not actively. I don't think most people know about that to begin with. Also, as much as it pains me to say it, they're allegations.

He shouldn't have been voted for for thousands of reasons before we'd get to this stuff here, if that makes sense.

Well said, phro.

For most people this election seemed to be a choice of the lesser evil so of course there is going to be serious, fucked-up shit on both sides.

i voted for clinton....but i'm actually happy trump won. I voted purely on ideology, i hate republican ideology and trumps a dirtbag. But a lot of people that are now working at mcdonalds, have no health insurance and no car don't give a shit about being PC, or even misogynist...they are sick of the corrupt us government siding with special interests oover the ppl and this is the only thing that matters to them. Ressultingly, this election result is these people lashing out at the government that haas neglected them and destroyed their lives. Trump may not be perfect, but he represents voters doing what ever they can to destroy/shake up/ or just straight up protest against the established government.

like the trump campaing said....hillary is just more of the same...ass fucking of the people by the US government....TRUMP? who knows....but maybe something different (whatever that may be) might happen

All of that may be so, but it still doesn't change the fact that by all indications the way this man treats women is appauling, and people voted for him anyway. There will be other elections, other oppertunities for change. But now trump is forever going to be the 45th president, and history will forever reflect his election in spite of his behavior.

Not to mention the embarrassment it will be if these allegations continue and he winds up impeached one day or sommething.

That the US has no tariffs while the rest of the world does, is the monument to stupidity and anti-American trade deals. I would rather see the world economy crash than give my country to people that don't deserve it. Likewise, I would rather see a civil war destroy it than give it to violent savages.

First, nice moving of the goalposts from your previous statement of "Without the US there is literally almost no world trade."

However, you didn't move them far enough. Here's the tariffs you claim don't exist.

As for the economy, I'd rather not see a crash. I prefer not living through a great depression.

i kind of thought that exact thing....that even though clinton is just going to give the banks and wallstreet every cent of hardworking middle class americans tax dollars for more bribes....that trump was just too bad of an influence and "image" for the ccountry and we should just bit the bullet and wait another 4 years and maybe someone else will come along.

but maybe nobody else outside of marco rubio and hillary clinton...totally crooked career politicians with only one thing in mind. get bribes from special interests....maybe nobody outside of that mold would ever get nominated again. granted trump might just do the same thing...but at lease theres a small chance that he won't...so it may have indeed been a wise decision for people to jump on the opportunity while it was there.

if you noticed he seems to be quite reserved now and actually humble somewhat. totally the opposite of his campaing....it makes one wonder just how much of his campaing was an "act" well crafted to get the support of as many whites as humanly possible.

I doubt it was an act, because it seems his own people have had to restrain his behavior on twitter.

It would be great if trump as president ultimately turned out to be a good thing, but even in the unlikely event that happened, it won't retroactively change if voting for him at the time was a mistake or not.

^Your vicious gloating and constant references to Clinton being female renders your opinion utterly meaningless. Though you do seem hateful enough to be something of an expert on it...

You know what? The truth is I'm sick and tired to view NYC vote liberal in a crushing majority. Their liberal spirit destroyed Manhattan, in 1970 it was a toxic dump, you couldn't walk on a street without stepping on a HIV infected needle and nobody was investing in that dump. Then TRUMP came and reshaped Manhattan into the jewel that it is today, obviously not by sharing their values, but by being the great man that he is today. My question is:

Why is it that these ungrateful people of NYC are able to go in Times Square on New Year's eve and chant Newwwwwwww Yoooooooooork! Newwwwwwww Yoooooooooooooooork! And when their hero who made their shitty island great is elected president, they engage in a violent riot and break everything? Hello there, my brainless retards braking everything on the streets of NYC, what is your malfunction, biting the hand that feeds you, and fed you for decades?

I doubt people were stepping on HIV infected needles in 1970, before it really 'arrived' in the US (great export guys, cheers ;)). But, Trump is pretty well known for being a businessman of dubious calibre. He made a lot of money and lost a lot too. You shouldn't forget the facts of history even when they don't support your position. Trumps business acumen is questionable. But, its not why he got voted in, he played on his celebrity and people seem to think famous people are inherently authoritative. He hasn't had any political experience, he is a failed businessman, and you voted him in. That's fucking crazy imo.

Good luck with your new messiah :)

Who says they're "liberals"?
I'm not a fucking liberal, and i support people engaging in civil disobedience against tyranny.

From the rantings i read from Trump supporters here, it seems like you guys welcome - and encourage - the US being even more of a police state.
Pretty weird if you ask me, but i don't understand that way of thinking, nor do i have any desire to.

Who says they're "liberals"?

Hmmm let's see.. metropolitan centres, young of age, man buns, hipster beards and hysterical young women wearing face paint.. burning flags, generally trashing their own patch, holding signs overusing the words 'racist' 'hate' 'love'.. whilst completely oblivious to the reality that their protesting won't amount to shit and that democracy doesn't always swing your way.

I don't recall seeing this kind of response when Obama was elected and re-elected?

He hasn't even taken office yet. Where exactly is the tyranny.

What is disappointing about HRC supporters is the fact that they were not willing to hold her accountable for her dubious and often blatantly unethical actions. Email attacking rape victims unleashing the chain of events that would create the refugee crisis to name a few. In the end they were blaming the Russians for her problems.

Sanders had principles but HRC s minions were babyboomers wanting to relive their 1960s glory days so badly they cost Sanders the nomination and caused Trump to be elected. Sanders would have won, and he would have made realistic compromises against his own extreme proposals.

Protesting the president elect has a long history, here is an article and pics that span decades: http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/10/politics/president-protests-history/

Let's not forget Trump himself was pressing for revolution on twitter when Obama won in 2012

His business acumen is shit and you can see that from all of his business investments. He benefited in life from a few things -name recognition, money, appeal to luxury, and tabloids. He became famous as being a real estate tycoon (inherited money) running around with super models and living the life of luxury. Then he put his name on the casinos, had a tv show, and subsequently put his name on everything from for profit colleges to fucking steak. He's been a well known name and socialite for decades in the US. That's partly why he got elected, not the real reason, though. He got elected for basically being in the right place at the right time. He spoke to the right people, who are basically people that time(and media) forgot and are scared to death of globalization. He pandered to their fears. He also ran against the perfect opponent who is extremely unlikable even to people registered to her party. It should have been clear as day that as soon as Bernie didn't get the nod that Trump was going to win.
I'm not so pessimistic about what's going to happen with his presidency because I'm a straight white male who isn't poor. But, if I was anything but that, I'd be a bit worried right now.

I think quite possibly the bigger news here is that CA legalized weed. That is huge and I think is the tipping point to being completely legal within 10 years throughout the country. That just saved a lot of lives, I think.

Oh, and hopefully he stays on track fighting climate change. That's quite arguably the biggest issue everyone on earth is dealing with.

Interesting. Can't generalize from just one picture, however things look a lot more civil at those protests compared to what's going on at the moment.. and Trump hasn't even done anything yet! I think he will either do a reasonable job for America whilst being shouted down the whole time, or he won't be able to live up to his own hype.. in which case it will just be a 'meh' 4 years and then someone else will get voted in instead.

Climate change and the environment generally are indeed huge issues, which sadly were barely mentioned (if at all) in the US presidential election campaign.

This article has a pretty concise list of things Trump said (ie not things Trump will definitely do, because he is unapologetically full of shit) - but there's a certain 'vibe' regarding environmental policy:

-Trump called global warming a Chinese hoax. He couldn’t have been blunter about this. He also tapped Myron Ebell, an avowed climate denier, to head his EPA transition team.

-Trump has said, straight up, he wants to scrap all the major regulations that President Obama painstakingly put in place to reduce US carbon dioxide emissions, including the Clean Power Plan. If Trump wants to rewrite these rules through executive action, he can. Or Republicans in Congress could try to pass a law forbidding the EPA from ever regulating CO2 again.

-Trump has also hinted he wants to downsize the EPA. “What they do is a disgrace,” he has said. He now has the power to rewrite or scale back other regulations on mercury pollution, on ground-level ozone, on coal ash, and more.

-Trump has said he wants to repeal all federal spending on clean energy, including R&D for wind, solar, nuclear power, and electric vehicles. This would require Congress, but it’s not impossible.

-Finally, Trump has said he wants to pull the United States out of the Paris climate deal. There’s nothing stopping him here. Technically, the US can’t officially withdraw for four years, but for all practical purposes, the Trump administration could ignore it.

The only person i can think of that is as creepy to me as Donald Trump is Jimmy Savile.

And it doesn't get more creepy than that.

Tons of people are left tremendous money and don't do shit. Look at people that win the lottery. He became a billionaire bc he surrounds himself with the right people that know how to do things under budget/ ahead of schedule. We don't need professional politicians practicing theory. Everything is about money, even stuff that isn't supposed to be. We need someone that can make this country more money and is willing to take the beating for making unpopular decisions. I think this giant task can only be accomplished by somebody that already has something to hang his hat on. Someone that's entire legacy won't rest on holding the office. If trump does a fifth of what he says he will do most of us will make sure he wins again in a landslide. If he just took the office for his own benefit then he will be a one term presidency, and the DNC might even beat him with the crypt keeper(Bernie). All these cupcakes whining/ rioting about democracy are the direct result of political correctness, a symptom of communist obstructionists pushing their agenda these last decades. Even that idiot bill maher sees that political correctness and Islam denial are the two things that are destroying his party.
says who? you just did and what happened? nothing...

i think 'rape culture' is an unnecessarily inflammatory term that just emboldens supporters and turns off opponents. like so many other terms ("sjw", "pc gone mad", etc.) it just makes discussion impossible.

it's undeniable that trump is a misogynist - his words and deeds make that plain. he's unashamedly referred to women as "fat pigs", "dogs", "slobs" and such. he's bragged about sexually assaulting women and believes it's acceptable for him to do it simply because of who he is. he's the defendant in a case accused of raping a 13 year old girl. and on. and on. and on.

dismiss it all as political correctness if you will but it's genuinely concerning to a lot of people.

alasdair
Whatever trump is, is leaps and bounds better than what Hillary is. She is the definition of what is wrong with the political class. Get your head out of the sand, nobody cares about how trump treated women. Though I highly doubt the rape claims, but that's just me. The Clinton machine churned out that tape, and the every questionable woman come out of the wood work. Give me a break<------ this is what most Americans think

Get your head out of the sand, nobody cares about how trump treated women.

The irony is all the whinging feminists and criers of misogyny secretly get moist at the thought of a man treating women a bit rough handed.. they're just too confused internally to admit it.
