Where my frogs at [ribbit ribbit!]

Wondering who all here has codepens and githubs and if anyone is looking for help and if anyone would like to get down on some collaborative work!? I have ideas and skills with HTML/CSS/JS. I use SCSS and run NodeJS and am interested in the Internet of Things and Progressive Web Apps.

Let's leverage this board and see what's really really good with us! What if our missing links have been here all along! I know a lot of hacker mentality types used to use this. What's everyone using these days? IRC? Slack?

Best,
dp

ya know, i tried IRC. i don't get it. i think it's like usenet - you have to be there from the beginning, or it's just trash. usenet, i did - alt.drugs.chemistry!

perl, R, SQL, ajax - and i have a very low tolerance for windows nonsense.....

I use IRC.

It's simple. You connect to a network of computers called a network, and you can join channels which make up the network.

The most complicated part is getting a nick name, which just involves using Nick Serv.

what's the joy? i'm honestly asking how one has fun on IRC. is it really the back channel for hackers? ;-)

okay - do you mean people who orchestrate DDoS shit, or people who run Kali and metasploit?

I think that the term you're looking for is skiddies. Why are you people so obsessed with Kali?

I'm also not sure what you're really trying to do. Did you have some sort of a project in mind that you wanted help with? Or are you just trying to figure out how to use IRC?

Talking to me? I have a million projects in mind. I'm on the web technologies front, JavaScript mostly and CSS. I run Node, Express, Mongo, and React on my projects grunt, gulp, web pack, SCSS, etc etc etc. I'm a UX Engineer/Prototyper by trade.

Based on what? Kali wasn't even really designed to be an ultimate security tool. It's just designed to work reasonably well right out of the box.
perhaps my sarcasm wasn't detected.

People are obsessed with Kali, because they just installed ubuntu on their Dell, and think they are hot shit and 1337 by running Kali/metasploit preconfiged distros. When in reality they are fucking n00bs.

Kali was pretty cringey last i tried it, IMHO better to just configure Debian nicely and install the tools from the Kali repo, or if you don't need thousands of tools/scripts can also just find what you need from the BlackArch list and chances are the source is on Github anyway

for me, kali is a learning tool. in that sense, having all the preconfigured stuff is awesome. but the thing is, i can't imagine actually wanting to hack someone. as in read their facebook shit and banal emails. mostly i use what i've learned to scan the wan.
