If you were hiring a mechanic to fix your car, would you hire a mechanic with 40 years of experience, or his boss who inherited the company and knows diddly about mechanics?

...definitely the former.

Ie - his job is to govern, no? There's nothing wrong with professionalism in politics in this little system we currently abide by if we're not talking about corrupted politicians. If you were hiring a mechanic to fix your car, would you hire a mechanic with 40 years of experience, or his boss who inherited the company and knows diddly about mechanics?

When using a blind issue identifier, Sanders is my man. I just don't know if as a democratic socialist he will stick to the social democratic ideals that I personally uphold. He is, without question, the best candidate. I just have a hard time predicting how the establishment will react to him, and I fear he would be Cartered. Put Warren at his side, and I feel a bit more comfortable.

Get involved is right. Also, GET EDUCATED. I love her passion and message, but when she says vote people out, and new ones in, I had to say to myself, "Be careful lady". I worry greatly about a less than educated American public voting in opportunists left and right. Opportunists know now is the time to strike. The grounds of discontent are fertile.

Who do you think is their right now?

Opportunists. The Democrats promise the world, the Republicans campaign on mostly unimportant social issues. Both do nothing to slow the decline.

affordable basic healthcare for everyone is already reality in many nations. it's funny how many americans seem to think that it is unrealistic...

btw minimum wage 1500 dollars? I mean, if I'd earn 1500euros a month here, I could afford a super nice flat + any food I like + travelling some place at least once a year no problem. how the fuck is life in america so expensive?

^I could do the same with $1500 USD here, it just depends where you live. That probably wouldn't make it very far in New York City or San Francisco

The thing about it is the president isn't a king, I don't see Sanders shifting away from his ideals, he hasn't for 40 years, but he has to contend with 535 lawmakers. He can't write the law, which is a good thing, but it does mean compromise. He does however have control over the military and has the ability to issue executive orders, which offers him the ability to stick to his guns on quite a few issues.

ok point taken, but I am talking inner district of vienna (city with highest quality of life worldwide) nice. you can get a 70m² for 800 a month if you want.

If you haven't watched any of the Libertarian debates yet, you really should. Compared to the Republican and Democratic debates, they are refreshingly full of substance and respect for the questions, the candidates, and the audience, which the others treat as a large mass of "epsilons."

Also, they feature our very own stuffmonger. lol

touche :P

Wow, yea that doesn't really happen in the US as far as I know. Especially not in a city with the same sort of stature as Vienna. In Detroit now, you can BUY an entire house for that.

Don't forget 1500 euros is worth more than 1500 usd. And we get to pay sometimes hundreds of dollars per month per person for healthcare. Also shittier infrastructure, public transit, etc, etc.

He is calling himself a democratic socialist from what I've read. As you say, he has identified far more with social democrats in the past, but if he tries to pull actual democratic socialist shit (i.e. nationalize the means of production) in the US it will be a huge mistake.

Socializing the means of production is a Socialist thing, not a Democratic Socialist thing.

Democratic Socialism is a combination of Socialism and Capitalism. You can't have Capitalism with the government controlling the means of production.

If you want an example of a past president that was a Democratic Socialist to get an idea of what Bernie's presidency might look like, take a look at Franklin Roosevelt.
