2016 American Presidential Campaign

Well hell just froze over. Ted Cruz said something sensible that I agree with when in reference to Trump, he asked "Who do you want with your finger on the button?"

Here's to hoping the same thing happens to Trump that happened to Howard Dean when he was the presumptive Democratic nominee in 2003-2004.

I hope to God you are right, but it's difficult to dismiss him when he has a double digit lead over most of his rivals for the Repuglican nomination and beats Hillary in a head to head matchup in current polling.

He has a double-digit lead in a race with many candidates.

The question is, as weaker candidates drop out, who will they followers switch their support to?

Says the guy who suggested we nuke and/or carpet bomb ISIS controlled cities.

Good point. This article from Dec. 2 is a couple of weeks old now, but makes a pertinent point:

And some Republicans repelled by Mr. Trump feel little urgency to attack him because, they say, he is preventing what they see as an even less desirable standard-bearer — Senator Ted Cruz of Texas — from consolidating the votes of hard-line conservatives.

Of course, this may no longer be the case as Cruz now leads Trump by double digits in Iowa. But then again, the Iowa caucuses are largely meaningless in the bigger picture.

EI suggest everyone start working out (as in lifting weights not yoga etc) training with guns melee weapons etc. Also start accumulating weapons food, learn survival skills. Get your tribe together and put each and everyone to the test to see who's loyal and who will stand strong.

Use burner phone, fake ames and encryption. Throe away your TV I'm noticingconstant subliminal.

Repent for your sins. Try to get your slate clean.

I predict a survival of the fittest situation in the majority of the world by 2020, but as soon as next year (2016.) An all out war where the weak will be forced to there knees, not praying like they should but begging for mercy.

The earth will become a funeral planet. This was prophecized milleniums ago. People need to get woke, fast. Your worthless degree in Gay Aboriginal Maoist Studies won't help.

On the subject of this election, signs point to democracy officially ending although it died in 1913.

Oh please, people have been saying the world is about to end, such and such prophecy says it'll happen some time soon. For hundreds of years ive been hearing it consistently since the 90s and that's just cause I first became old enough to be interested in politics then.

The world has been about to end since it began.

Chemical weapons aren't going to be how the world ends. They're far too limited in scope. As for biological and nuclear weapons. Bio weapons are unlikely too for the following reason. If the bioweapon were launched by a non state actor, like terrorists, it could be contained, and we would survive. It could cause devastating destruction, but it wouldn't end the world. And no sane state would do it, because they could just use nuclear weapons for that purpose and bioweapons would devastate them as well. As for nuclear weapons, it's not impossible, but mutually assured destruction means both sides will try very hard to prevent that happening. I suspect neither side would strike first, and thus nobody strikes. If we wipe out civilization as we know it with nuclear weapons, id put my money on it being an accident. Someone screwing up big time. We've gotten close a few times that way.

You also have natural disasters. Just the right kind of viral pandemic could seriously disrupt civilization, but we would survive. Down but not out.

So barring accidental nuclear annihilation. Theres the one in a trillion chance of other natural disasters. Super volcanoes. Gamma ray bursts etc, but we can't do anything about that and theres none predicted to the little to no extent that we can predict it.

I wouldn't worry about any if that. If you enjoy worrying, I would be worrying about the long term, slow deterioration of civilization, rather than anything happening fast. For example climate change or something, causing enormously large displaced andor famine stricken populations causing serious food and national security problems. Destabilizing society leading to large numbers of desperate people. In that state, people will be willing to get on board with and tolerate government policy that could seriously threaten our current quality of life and freedoms. The end of the world as we know it, but so gradually we don't know it happened until we have the benefit of hindsight. We'll likely recover from that too. Unfortunately if you're still alive to see the destruction happen, you'll definitely be dead by the time of reconstruction, so enjoy life today.

I'll tell you what it wont be, it wont be anything to do with an ancient prophecy, except by profound coincidence.

And don't bother throwing out your tv. There is in fact brainwashing coming through the tv, but all it's mostly just telling you to do is buy a new phone and go to mcdonalds and shit. You woulda done most of it anyway.

But if donald gets elected, the world might end, seriously.

Hottest first lady ever tho.

Sanders is on the rise. Hillary ahead 6 points in front of trump in the general polls.

If its clinton/trump are any of you guys even going to vote? I don't know if I could live with myself either way.

^You don't have to vote for the red team or the blue team, you know. If that's the general election (which I doubt, really), I'll be voting socialist (as in Marxist) again. It's a throw away vote, but it's my vote.

Personally hope that Obama finds a way to stay in office for another term, but that's a pipe dream....

If Sanders doesn't win the primaries, I'll be voting for Trump.

I used to hate Trump until recently, and I used to admire Clinton until recently.

Perhaps I'm becoming a bit bi-polar.

Yeah I guess didn't really pay attention to the Marxist part. SPUSA is the only party I'd throw my weight behind, personally. But I think we're overdue for some kind of massively popular third party that is socialist in nature but can appeal to a wide range of Americans. It could create a whole new 2-party system.

Who were you referring to?

Socialist Alternative if they run a candidate. They seem to be supporting Sanders right now :| Which is a shame, because they've gotten lots of national news in the last couple years due to the successful Sawant campaigns in Seattle.

PSL if they're on the ballot. They're a little Stalin-apologeticy for my taste, though.

How can anyone advocate for socialism? I mean, are we talking about the same thing? I'll be the first to say capitalism is by no means perfect, it's a very flawed system. But socialism? Have you seen how every socialist aligned country has turned out?

I'm in favor of some policies that some people would call socialist, so I hope maybe we're just using the words differently. But you can't really mean to turn us into something like what every socialist country to date has looked like.

Socialism is a process. A process that can utilize a highly developed, post-industrial society much more effectively than a third world feudal state. For example, how has capitalism worked in Puerto Rico? How does America's Puerto Rico perform compared to Cuba?

Capitalism is a part of the socialist process, socialism is simply the next step.

Except every time in history socialism has failed to go any further, and gotten trapped in a hideous state far worse than capitalism ever was. You only need look at history. What am I missing here?

Socialism is supposed to be the people in control if the means of production, but in practice it just puts the state in charge of everything and results in them doing a far worse job than under a capitalist system.

Every time its been tried socialism has been like putting one corrupt evil company in charge of everything with no competition or oversight to balance it out at all. The people wind up with no control at all.

Capitalism isn't great, and I certainly don't agree with unchecked and uncontrolled capitalism. And I agree some things shouldn't be privatized and some things like health care shouldn't be exclusively private. But pure socialism is madness.
