2016 American Presidential Campaign

Or better yet we find a way to do away with all the politicians and start from the ground up with people that actually want to help the country. =D

I didn't say those republicans and democrats were politicians. Our government would be held before a tribunal of randomly selected americans (basically just to let them know how wrong they are and maybe squeeze a drop of remorse out of them) and stripped of all their pensions, healthcare, assets, and property...then forced to live on social security and medicaid.

Donald Trump wants to create database for Syrian refugees, surveil mosques, bring back waterboarding

November 22, 2015

Donald Trump hit the talk-show circuit Sunday morning armed with a dizzying display of defiant declarations, double downs and fresh disses.

On ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” the Republican frontrunner called for surveillance of U.S. mosques and the creation of a database of Syrian refugees in the wake of the terror attacks in Paris. And Trump again would not rule out creating a registry for all Muslims.

“Are you unequivocally now ruling out a database on all Muslims?” asked Stephanopoulos.

“No, not at all,” Trump said before reiterating his plan for a database to track Syrian refugees accepted into the United States.

“We have no idea who these people are,” Trump said. “When the Syrian refugees are going to start pouring into this country, we don’t know if they’re ISIS, we don’t know if it’s a Trojan horse. And I definitely want a database and other checks and balances. We want to go with watch lists. We want to go with databases.”

Trump said he’s skeptical of statistics that show most of the Syrian refugees flooding into Europe are women and children.

“When I look at the migration and the lines and I see all strong, very powerful looking men, they’re men, and I see very few women, I see very few children, there’s something strange going on,” Trump said.

At a rally in Birmingham, Ala., on Saturday, Trump called for the “surveillance of certain mosques if that’s OK.”

“The people that are involved in those mosques, they know who the bad ones are and they know who the good ones are, but they don’t talk,” he said Sunday. “We have to surveil the mosques.”

Trump also said he would “absolutely” bring back waterboarding as a form of interrogation for suspected terrorists.

“I think waterboarding is peanuts compared to what they do to us,” he said of the controversial technique favored by the Bush administration after 9/11 and later defined as torture. “What they’re doing to us, what [ISIS] did to [American hostage] James Foley when they chopped off his head — that’s a whole different level, and I would absolutely bring back interrogation and strong interrogation.”

“They don’t use waterboarding over there,” he noted. “They use chopping off people’s heads.”

Trump defended the unsubstantiated claim he saw “thousands and thousands of people” in New Jersey cheering the destruction of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

“There were people that were cheering on the other side of New Jersey where you have large Arab populations,” Trump said. “They were cheering as the World Trade Center came down. I know it might be not politically correct for you to talk about it, but there were people cheering as that building came down — as those buildings came down — and that tells you something. It was well covered at the time. There were people over in New Jersey that were watching it, a heavy Arab population, that were cheering as the buildings came down. Not good.”

The presidential hopeful appears to be referring to erroneous reports that people in Paterson, N.J., were seen cheering the collapse of the twin towers. While there were images of people in parts the Middle East cheering the attacks, there is no evidence that similar celebrations took place in New Jersey.

“It did happen. I saw it,” Trump said. “It was on television.”

At Trump’s rally in Birmingham, a Black Lives Matter activist who interrupted his speech was reportedly punched, kicked and tackled by several of the candidate’s supporters.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks told CNN that “the campaign does not condone this behavior.”

But on “Fox and Friends” Sunday, Trump did not exactly condemn it.

“Maybe he should have been roughed up, because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing,” Trump said. “He was so obnoxious and so loud. He was screaming. I had 10,000 people in the room yesterday — 10,000 people. And this guy started screaming by himself.”

He added: “This was a very obnoxious guy who was a troublemaker who was looking to make trouble.”

Idiot's pretty much ostracized the Muslim, Hispanic and now black population. I was just thinking he was a moron at first but it's pretty clear that he's actually a dangerous man. Thank god I don't think he stands a chance of winning.

^ something on which we an agree :)

i like obama's tweet re: trump: "perhaps ignorant racists should wear special id badges too"

alasdair

Yeah I'm not an Obama fan either but I gotta admit that quote made me laugh. Trump is a great candidate if you want to see more American freedoms taken away I guess. And honestly if Obama was running and it came down to Obama vs. Trump I would have to say I would vote for Obama. If Trump were somehow elected I have no doubt that he could easily be a main catalyst in starting WWIII.

I don't think surveillance of the mosques is such a bad idea, if I remember correctly we've been doing this for quite some time now. I agree that the good ones know who the bad ones are but ain't saying nothing too.
I'm all set with trump but he makes a couple of valid points that it's hard to argue with. These are strange times when I partially agree with trump lol.

I pretty much think any joe blow of the street with a high school education that has been following the election has a better chance of not fucking up this country half as much as most of those folks that are on the ballot.

^I think there's a pandering problem, more so than a blatant stupidity problem (among the candidates). Uneducated voters with absolutely no global perspective, world view or concept of basic economics or international relations want a candidate who reflects those characteristics, so the politicians play the part. We have ivy league lawyers pretending to be fucking clueless. Ted Cruz is a Harvard Law grad ffs.

Donald Trump defends controversial retweet: ‘Am I gonna check every statistic?’

Donald Trump defends controversial retweet: ‘Am I gonna check every statistic?’

Dylan Stableford

Donald Trump doesn’t believe his retweet of an inflammatory chart that inaccurately portrays U.S. murder rates among blacks and whites was racist.

“I’m probably the least racist person on earth,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News host Bill O’Reilly on Monday.

“However, when you tweet out a thing — and this bothered me, I gotta tell you,” O’Reilly said about the real estate mogul’s controversial post. “You tweeted out that whites killed by blacks — these were statistics you picked up from somewhere — at a rate of 81 percent. And that’s totally wrong.”

According to the most recent murder statistics available from the FBI, approximately 82 percent of white Americans were killed by other white Americans in 2014.

The chart in Trump’s tweet, which purports to show 2015 crime statistics, lists its source as “Crime Statistics Bureau — San Francisco,” which does not appear to exist.

The Republican frontrunner said the data came from “a radio show” and that retweets should not be considered endorsements for his nearly 5 million Twitter followers.

“Bill, I didn’t tweet — I retweeted somebody that was supposedly an expert,” Trump said. “Hey, Bill, Bill, am I gonna check every statistic?”

“You’re a presidential contender,” O’Reilly replied. “You gotta check ’em.”

The Fox News host then offered the GOP hopeful some advice: Stop tweeting.

“Look, you know I’m looking out for you, right? You know that. I’m looking out for you; I look out for every honest politician, no matter what party they’re in,” O’Reilly said. “Don’t do this. Don’t put your name on stuff like this, ’cause it makes the other side, it gives them stuff to tell the ill-informed voter that you’re a racist. You just handed them a platter.”

Trump disagreed.

“Well, this was a retweet,” Trump continued. “Bill, I’m sure you’re looking out for me. Everybody is. This was a retweet. This was a retweet.”

“I told you, you shouldn’t tweet ever,” O’Reilly said.

Earlier Monday, Trump tripled down on his claim he saw “thousands and thousands of people” in New Jersey cheering the destruction of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001 — despite the lack of evidence such celebrations ever occurred.

Trump offered a Sept. 18, 2001, Washington Post article about an FBI probe into the 9/11 attacks as evidence of his claim:

In Jersey City, within hours of two jetliners’ plowing into the World Trade Center, law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style parties on rooftops while they watched the devastation on the other side of the river.

But Serge Kolvaleski, one of the reporters of the 2001 article, said he never found evidence of celebrations.

“I certainly do not remember anyone saying that thousands or even hundreds of people were celebrating,” Kolvaleski said in a statement Monday. “That was not the case.“

Trump remained defiant.

“I have the world’s greatest memory,” he told an NBC News reporter Monday night. “It’s one thing everyone agrees on.”

At least he's humble tho.

Ha! Add blacks to the list now too.

"Im probably the least racist person on earth"

Probably so donald. Probably so. You do let Mexicans hang drywall and stuff. Prob let women answer phones and stuff too. The hot ones at least.

People mogul don has alienated:

Hispanics ✔
Women ✔
Muslims ✔
Blacks ✔

Says a lot about the current gop landscape with this guy in the lead.

Look here is whats is going to happen. Trump's MO is that he hypes up a business he is involved in, usually by using his name, and his brash way of speaking (in this case the presidential nomination). If he wins presidency then he will make a bunch of bad business decisions for the country, lose plenty of jobs and then declare bankruptcy and walk away from it leaving a trail of unhappy ex employees holding the bag. Hopefully you like his vice president because if Trump wins chances are he will be running the show after Trump loses interest inflating his ego.

Here is an example of Trump's Business Accumen
He had an airline that he bought that was originally called Eastern Shuttle. He renamed it trump shuttle. It was express routes from LaGuardia (nyc), Logan (boston), and DC washington airport. He ran it into the ground through bad business acumen. All the mechanics, flight attendents, pilots, baggage handlers etc. Lost the job that was steady when it was eastern shuttle. He declared bankruptcy and walked away scott free. Fortunately, the banks that held his loan for it gave the service to USAirways and they were able to rehire many of the employees that lost their jobs (at reduced pay of course) however many actually just plain lost their jobs and their retirement funds. USAirways was able to get those direct flights working properly again but it really damaged quite a few peoples lives that actually had it pretty good during the time it was Eastern Shuttle. This may happen for our country. Just because you think you can do it, especially without direct experience, doesn't mean you can do it effectively.

Ted "cruisin' for a bruisin'" Cruz

I had to bump this thread.

It seems Ted Cruz is gaining percentage points under the "I will not compromise" platform.

This seems blatantly against what a president truly has to do in order to make our government work.

It kind of reminds me of how many people hate Obama, however they fail to realize that it is nearly impossible to get anything done with a huge republican majority in congress...not to mention a far right leaning supreme court.

Any thoughts?

^I'll add that during the process of crafting the ACA, the Democrats controlled both the whitehouse and both houses of congress. The democrats had an open window to pass the single payer option into the final bill, but they were split and it was defeated. Had the Democratic (I believe it was a "super", even") majority voted strongly in favor of the single payer option our current healthcare system would look quite different than it does now.

The same is applied to Wall Street regulation. Just a couple examples of how the Democrats are constantly getting in their own way even if the Republicans aren't.

Left Right Up Down, they all lead to the exact same destination. That is, the rich get richer and the poor get homeless. We're living in a time where direction or for this matter political playing field really doesn't matter. There isn't a single Politician in Washington that hasn't taken a bribe or "donation" from some filthy rich fat cat with special interests. Hillary Clit-ton, the leading Democratic nominee, has herself even taken "donations" from, you guessed it, Donald Thump. And don't even get me started on Mr. "Hope and drone strike" Obuma. Where to begin, lies, lies, more lies, Tpp, NSA, Nearly Doubled the national debt(a whopping 10 trillion dollars "by his loan some". How "unpatriotic" of him. <====Some of you will get that one. LOL

We just need to bleach out(sanitize) Washington and start from scratch.

I just wonder what's going to happen when our National Debt plateaus. What I mean by that is, what will happen when our debt exceeds our GDP? Oh wait scratch that, it already has. Well then, what will happen when it reaches some unrealistic figure like 25 trillion? How much debt can one country accumulate before it crashes? How is this sustainable? I just don't get it, our country(The US) is the epitome of what NOT to do with an open line of credit, and yet everyone acts as if it's "no big deal". Like it's perfectly okay to leave our children's children with hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt that they will never be able to pay off.

I'm not really an Obama fanboy, but to be fair, the US national debt has been growing at it's slowest pace since the 1950s.

An article from MarketWatch that was written in 2012? Totally an unbiased, credible and relevant source of information.
One year later...

How bad must our debt situation really be if in order to rationalize it you have to post an article that compare's a PRIVATE debt trend from 2009 through 2012 to a debt trend that took place right after a major World War? World War II to be precise, the most expensive war in US history.

You are absolutely right! It is the special interest and lobbying groups that each politician, be it democrat, or republican owes allegiance to....not the american people.

If you look at the brass tacks of it, ACA was just a way to hand even more money to healthcare companies. Just look at the penalty at the end of the year for not having healthcare. Why should people need to spend more money because even ACA is out of their reach financially.

Well, The Donald has sunk to a new low in my book. I saw a sound bite on CBS News about San Bernadino, "Every time there's a tragedy like this, it helps me."
