Opioids Got oxycodone - best results without risking dependency?

Okay so I've been dealing with severe nerve pain, as well as horrible derealization and cognitive impairment and bad anxiety, from gabapentin and benzos. I've been off gabapentin for three months (I only took it for 7 weeks) and benzos for 9 months (took for 4 years). For more details about this, you can check out my "10 weeks off short term gabapentin use" thread.

The nerve pain is sporadic. In the first two months off this stuff, it was really bad and usually coupled with a nonstop rapid heart beat. The rapid heart beat has greatly diminished and I thought the nerve paid had too, until this week when it came back STRONG.

I used tylenol with codeine yesterday to deal with it but that made my derealization worse. I went to my doctor and to my surprise he gave me 90 oxycodone 5mg pills.

So, my questions are...
1) What is the best way to dose this without running the risk of dependency?
2) What routes of administration will give the fastest and strongest results?
3) Will this interfere with my brain's recovery from gabapentin and benzos?
4) The tylenol with codeine worsened my derealization when I took 5 of them (tylenol 3). Do you think that was just a coincidence or do you think it correlates to the high number of pills I took/
5) How long does oxycodone take to kick in and how long does it last?

Thanks Blue Light, you guys are the best!

I took one pill an hour ago, and my de realization seems to have gotten worse.

I also don't really feel any noticeable difference. Definitely don't feel high.

itll take you 15-20mg to feel high with no tolerance. if its making your derealisation worse then maybe its not for you though. maybe ask about pregabalin for your nerve pain.

1 - if you take it more than once every 3 days, you risk some dependence.
2 - oral for strongest, snorting is quicker but is wasteful.
3 - only if you get addicted. if you love your downers then its risky.
4 - youve answered this already.
5 - about 20-30 mins to kick in. should last 3-4 hours.

Thanks for the reply. U think I should avoid this if its gonna make derealization worse, or would the high counteract that?

I'd start with 10mg,especially if you're not a huge guy. I am, and 10mg got me warm and fuzzy at the beginning.

A bit of derealization isn't going to hurt you, so I suggest slowly upping the dose to see if a) it works, and b) the derealization worsens, is tolerable, or even continues to exist.

The high wouldnt counter the depersonilization. It might make you tired so you could sleep through it.
If you're getting depersonilization from opiates maybe you should avoid them?

I suffer from derealization most of the time due to gabapentin withdrawal and benzo withdrawal. The 5mg dose seems to have made it a little worse.

I'm a little disappointed because I was expecting a good relief and a good high. I need it.

If you got hooked on gabapentin and benzos that bad you need to STAY THE FUCK AWAY from opiates, seriously.

It's a FACT opiates don't work well for nerve pain/neuropathic pain.

If you wish to continue using opiates I suggest you do some thorough research, NOT ON BLUELIGHT, but on credible medical websites, even Wikipedia is better than BL. Oxycodone is one of the safest opiates, barring overdose/addiction risk, it's associated with very few adverse events, though when quitting the Oxy keep watch on your heart, because quitting Oxycodone is much more taxing on the heart than quitting morphine, and is associated with increased mortality due to WD.

Also, the fact your trying to get "high" on this, despite your pain & derealization (whatever the hell that is!) tells me you may not be mature enough for the responsible use of Opiates to treat your pain, or anything else.

Seriously OP, ask yourself why your chasing a high, instead of trying to treat your symptoms....

I gaurentee you by 95% that is what I'll consider a BAD START to your opiate therapy, OPIATES AREN'T PRESCRIBED TO CATCH A BUZZ, THEY ARE TO IMPROVE YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE!!!

If they don't do that, throw em in the back of your closet for a rainy(painful) day, huh??

Good luck OP, and remember, anytime somebody takes opiates for anything BESIDES SEVERE PHYSICAL PAIN, your risk for addiction/dependence escalates approximately 7-fold, and if you thing GABAPENTIN/ BENZO WITHDRAWAL was bad, lol your in for a rude G-Ddamn awakening if you don't heed my warning!

You may "NEED" relief from your symptoms, but you only "WANT" the so-called "HIGH". Sounds like you need a mild Benzo etc..you maybe barking up the wrong tree trying to treat your symptoms with Oxycodone....Morphine probably has less psychological side effects than Oxy anyways because morphine is a pure MU receptor agonist, and OXY is a KAPPA agonist etc....

The derealization can be described as feeling like you're unable to associate with anything going on in your life, like your constantly messed up and can't relate to the world.

I've been dealing with this to an extreme level, as well as severe cognitive impairment, irrational fears, and horrible anxiety. Plus, the nerve pain comes and goes which led me to get the oxycodone.

When I said "high", I meant that I was hoping for some temporary relief from all these symptoms in addition to the relief from the nerve pain. It's been a rough couple of months dealing with this crap.

I only intend to take this stuff when the nerve pain gets intolerable, but I am also looking to maximize the results when I take it, too.

If you have no or little experience with opiates and zero or a low tolerance just start out with 5-10mg taken orally.

If you did get addicted to gabapentin and benzos don't take any more opiates as you will get addicted to them.

If you take them like you did with the frequency you did gabapentin and benzos you will become addicted fast.

The rest of your questions you should be asking a doctor or medical professional. Good luck, and stay safe.

The question is not avoiding dependance, but w/d. Just keep the dose to a minimum, dose 4 hours or 6 hours maximum. Keep on schedule and ween off in the end and you should be ok.

I only intend to take this when I'm in nerve pain, which hopefully will not be frequent.

To clarify, I have Percocet 5/325. Idk if that is the same thing as oxycodone but it does say oxycodone on the bottle. Forgive my opiate ignorance.

I took one of these and, aside from brief increase in my de realization, felt nothing from them. Should I take two or three pills the next time I need to dose?

Take two. The "325" part means there's also Tylenol in addition to oxycodone, btw.

Be careful. It's super easy to get addicted in opiates IMO even more if you have low tolerance.

Do not take more than one at s time unless you do a CWE with any extras. Exceeding 325 mg acetaminophen in one dose is bad.

What would happen with multiple doses of 325mg acetaminophen?
Liver failure. But 325mg is not the limit... that takes massive doses. You can take two or even three times that without any issue. Percs are prescribed two at a time ALL THE TIME.

I took one at 4:45pm (EST) and didn't get a whole lot out of it except for some brief increase in de realization. I feel the nerve pain beginning to come back.

If I waited till midnight (so 7 hours later) could I take 3 of them?
