Where and how do you seekGod? Or are you an idol worshiper?

There are so many Gods andGoddesses in forums today that these places begin to look as in the days ofBabel. Two camps do seem to be forming though. Those who seek on the left andand those who have found on the right.

Which camp are you in?

If you seek God, where areyou looking?

If you have found your God,please supply a name. Show me yours and I will show you mine.

P.S. Gnosis is knowledge that leads to wisdom. Wisdom isSophia in our myths. She has faith in you finding her. Thank God Eve ate andAdam had the good sense to do as told and eat as well.

I look for signs of a higher power with a plan for me in the little everyday details of my life, the little things that just happen to fall into place just so.

Reading the Hebrew Bible's account of Moses' covenant with YHWH leads many people raised in the Abrahamic faiths to expect divine revelation to look grandiose and in-your-face. But since scientists, archeologists, and historians have yet to back up any anecdotal account of a big loud miracle, I'd say that if the Master Builder is real and really does intervene in our lives and our world, he does so very, very subtly.

What kind of revelation do you think Christians expect from a book that teaches inequality and that even the U.N. would have to reject if it was the constitution of a country?

Fundamentalist Christians are a bad example of Christianity. For instance the church did help civil rights movements that went directly against the teachings of the Bible. For instance I can not have a child, who then turns up to be disobedient, and then stone the child without fear of the higher law (which Christians actively participate in).

To your OP God is many things so "where" is the one of the trickiest things to answer but I would say Mythology. How do you seek God? How do you adhere to a higher law or principles than yourself? You agree to the terms and conditions. I do, I worship Edshu. Maybe Johnny Depp.

*If you seek God, where are you looking? Towards the Superego

Exactly. God is within us and mythology, if internalized is the best way to seek and find God.
It matters not which myth is internalized. Literalists cannot do so as they are literalists and idol worshipers.

I run and hide. God finds me. Then God hides (but maybe that's me, again, but everything hides, so God hides). And sometimes I find God, but sometimes it's after I give up (looking) that God reveals itself.

I find God by being active, and communicating with others, using language. Word. Sound. Exploring myself (and others). Paying attention. Reflection.

God is everywhere, and no'where'.

:) Great reply. Couldn't agree more.

I ask two very simple questions.

"What is the goal?" (Reminding that "from here to there" is an illusion. It's all happening right now.)

"Who is asking?"

Then I remember.

Where did you get the idea that there are only two camps? Did you read this in a book? See it on television? Please, do tell.

What if I told you I neither seek god or worship idols? Honestly, whether it's an animate object or some old man hanging out in the sky, I don't see much difference between the choices you intended to be so polarizing. They're both one and the same to me.

I accept that if there was a creator of the universe.. if there was an omnipotent being, they would not care about anyone, especially on a personal level. They would be above the petty human ego boosting of worship and would not give two shits whether someone did or did not believe in them.

Looking at the state of the world it's also clear that it does not matter what you believe in or even what kind of person you are.. you a liable to suffering.

It's obvious that if there were an omnipotent, omniscient being.. they don't care (and they certainly play no roll in the outcomes of human affairs)

Free thinkers who seek God have a hard time finding a religion that will allow them to think freely.

Please look into Gnostic Christianity as it allows you to think for yourself.

Yet Jesus said to seek God as he knew that God does not seek us.

We are to find God. He is not to find us because when we find God, he serves us.

We have nothing he wants but we have a lot that we want from him. Apotheosis shows us the limits.

This likely means a lot to you but is without meaning from here.

If you do not seek a higher ideal than what we now have then I would question your social conscience.

If you have settled for what is, then you idol worship what is, defects and all.

You did not like that I put two camps yet you did not show a third.
Denial is cheep. A good argument against is priceless.

No argument.

I am not an atheist but cannot argue against facts with fictions.

You are correct that the Gods on offer by the mainstream are not worthy of any person.

Not all Gods should be dismissed though because they could help some gain apotheosis, or a connection to their full mind.
I promote internalizing whatever belief one might have. They all lead to Gnosis.

"God does not seek us"

1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
The final nail as it were.

There shouldn't be any "limits" on an Ideal. The Ideal can't be met by Man, thus it only serves as a guide to a place. It is an Eternal Dialectic.

Strange how Love can condemn all those it loves.

Sure looks more like hate to me.
You keep that Love.
Love for a genocidal son murderer I do not have.

No one with morals will.

Ah but it was hate that redeemed Man.

Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them. (John 14:21, NIV)

Only universal Love and Agape redeem Man from hate, as hate was the final act in God's death. The Mythology is mostly egalitarian.

Sounds like it.

He shall rule over you.

Yep. Real equal that.

Note how history seems to not quite agree with you.
