Anything for you sir
I have seen so many people attempt the suboxone detox.. its results often seem to be a little hard to predict. cause some people seem to do well, but it kinda seems that the people who do well had really light habits of really short duration, not always but IMO the vast majority. The obvious problem is that it bupe has a long half life compared to many opiates. Also there is the fact that people need to wait until they are already in pretty strong withdrawal to take it. So I just have seen so many people be around 1/3 of the way through the real intense part of a withdrawal from H or morphine.. then they seek relief in the suboxone as a temporary helper.. for so many heavy long term addicts this seems to give them a brief respite for as many days as they take the subs, followed by 10 or twelve days of acute withdrawal or if you then add it up you have the first 24 hours before they doise the bupe, then how ever long they dose the bupe is good, followed by ten days of acute withdrawals. where had they just taken the neurontin, clonodine, etc and held on they would likely have been able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. or in other words had been feeling better on day three or four (of which they already had one down) then they had the previous days instead of feeling worse and worse for ten - 12 days after the subs were discontinued.
I want to say that I have also seen a few people who had large habits and had a pretty easy time coming of the subs.. but I always wonder if the magical difference here was not a lot of loperamide added into the equation. I of course belive everyone who posts here. I just cant figure out what the inconsistency is here.
one of the best examples I can give is a thread where a man posted about switching back to morphine in order to get off a two year pluss dependence on subs.. he did this and stayed on the morphine for a week and then three days later was off and feeling alright.. which i think we can say is pretty amazing considering the two years on subs and I dont think any tapper. this thread is in TDS I think and has a title like switching back to morphine to detox subs, bad idea? or something close to this.
Another good example of a person trying to use the subs to detox is thiam (huge success story by the way

) in the 24 year old addict thread.. he paid a bunch of money for a "professional" detox.. they waited a bit and hit him with the suboxone, then waited a few days and sent him home right before the subs started to ware down putting him in acutes for almost two weeks. he was on over eight years of constant medication so this needs to be considered.. but I rememebr posting with him saying you should not leave for at least another day as the subs half life hadn't allowed the dose to get to a sufficient spot to tell where he was. I also told him almost the exact time he was likely to get hit. and unfortunately thats exactly what happened.
He ended up powering through the acutes and a really nasty case of the paws and is now doing amazing as far as I know.. thats a real good thread to check out.. think its the 24 year old addict looking for advice.
So If a person is looking to detox I would suggest they try a non opiate approach first for all short acting opiates as I feel that adding in bupe, methadone could just make it that much harder in the end.
You have a good memory Space

.. I jumped off 150 mgpd methadone, 260 mgpd roxy, and 6 mgpd xanax and that just what I was prescribed.
The experience of kicking a long half life drug like methadone makes me really apprehensive of people trying an approach where they can trade a "nice little" 3 hard 4 rough tummel for a 10-14 day epic battle without first trying another approach first is not the way I would go.
But it does get better pretty quick.. and I feel better all the time now then i ever did when I was getting "high" on that shit. You guys can do this.. just draw that line in the sand and say for the next 9 months im not going to use no matter what cause I know I will get better. The before you do it develope a strong recovery plan.. no joke if I can do this so can anyone!!
I'm hitting the sack good people, so to everyone who has made progress or kept the dream alive .. another 24 You all!!
