The only time we should consider voting for a YES is if we know ALL drugs. Otherwise, why should you vote for something you do not even completely know. Lay them all down and we'll see which is which.

the Legalize All Drugs Now Thread

post here if you want all drugs legalized and available without a prescription from your local pharmacy for cheap! Enough is enough of this Prohibitionism. And hey, we Americans live in a free country, right? The alternative comes from George Orwell's 1984:

Freedom is slavery.
ignorance is strength

Btw whatever happened to the pursuit of happiness? For many of us that pursuit involves banned drugs.

the war on drugs is indefensible in any free society

Why are assault rifles legal but an ounce of cocaine is not?

I'm sick of this shit. it is encroaching on my rights as a free citizen. Lastly, vote pro-drug politicians into office. We can do this.

Well, ssssshhhhhure. Not holding my breath waiting for it to happen though:-) maybe someday. We are too enlightened.

weed is no longer a criminal offense where i live, so i've got mine suckas ;)

just kidding, i hate being prosecuted for enjoying the state of my own mind. legalize all drugs? bien sur.

Should marijuana be legalized for recreational use? pros & cons

The movement to legalize marijuana is progressing rapidly lately. I personally am undecided if this is such a good thing. When it comes to those with terminal illnesses and other serious diseases, I'm all for it. But what about strictly recreational use? Would we become a country of lazy unmotivated and less-intelligent stoner citizens? If so, that sure sounds like the perfect oporotunity for criminals, terrorist, warlords, and other dominant type evils. Even our own government may find it easy to violate our rights for their own personal gain. After all, they certainly seem to be getting away with it already. So how much easier would it be in a country full of complacent peace-loving stoners?

Or, would the opposite happen? Would our eyes be opened to truth and new oporotunities? Would we become "enlightened", seeing reality for what it truly is? Would we evolve to a new level of consciensnes?

I personally love marijuana. And I feel it does afford me a sense of enlightenment, peace and well being. But I have also known those who react with violence, intolerance toward others, not to mention near brain-dead behavior. I wonder, if given the opporotunity, if an entire population were to begin using marijuana just as much as people drink alcohol, what would happen to the crime rates in a country. I venture to say the rates would be reduced drastically! In fact, I believe alcohol, being the #1 culprit for crimes against humanity, should be OUTLAWED COMPLETELY!
So, TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!

All drugs should be legal. So should prostitution and the rest of the victimless "crimes." It comes down to the government not being responsible for what I do to myself or another consenting rational adult. Just because heroin became legal doesnt mean heroin is safe, and no one I know would run out and try it simply because its legal... The people who were adamant against pot smoking would probably do the same thing in their personal lives; I can't see it leading to much of an increase in drug use.

All drugs should be legal.

Me said:
Drug education should be taught throughout school.

Once old enough you should then go on a drug education course, covering things in more detail, the dangers, what to do in event of overdose, etc. When you pass the course you are given a license (much like a drivers license) that will enable you to buy a certain amount of drugs in a time period (with a chip and pic type device).

Boom. The criminal underworld that has control of the supply of drugs will lose it's grip. People will stop falling dead from adulterants they didn't even want to take or accidental overdoses caused by fluctuating purity. The average joe on the street will be a lot more clued up on how to deal with different types of overdose. People will be PROPERLY educated on drugs. Money saved and money made would massive.. this could be spend on better healthcare, education, etc and on better, proper treatments for addicts, and better research on drugs. And so on. The list is fckin endless.

+ what alt said ;)

And there are no cons.

It's 16 here in NC, USA, and that's young enough IMHO. Frontal lobe's not fully developed early adulthood, so kids make bad choices. I'm all for Romeo&Juliet laws, but a 40yr old sleeping with a 15 year old is just creepy.. 12 year old with a 15year old, ok, that makes some sense. Or 15 year old and 18year old, also makes some sense.

I think marijuana should be legal for recreational use. Because unlike with harder drugs, you CANNOT overdose on marijuana, even if you smoke all day everyday their are no major problems quitting such as seizures or any of that. Not even alcohol is nearly as safe as marijuana. And this is coming from smoking who doesn't really smoke marijuana anymore, it's just the true facts.

Interesting response intenselife. It seems you take a more pragmatic approach on your political ideologies rather than a moral one? Pragmatism does earn votes, but it doesn't earn hearts.

With all do respect steros, I disagree. I think 15 is just too young. I'm assuming that's how old you are. But steros, being sexually active carries a lot of risk. Sexually transmitted diseases, emotional consequences such as getting your heart broken or being used for sex, rape, reputation decline, getting caught up in relationships that are abusive, pregnancy, just to name a few. You see, the fact is that you are much more vulnerable to such things at your age. I hope that doesn't offend you, but its the truth. You know, I didn't have sex until I was 26 years old! Granted I was a real geek and anything but attractive to women, but I'm really glad it turned out that way because it gave me the opprotunity to learn about true love and how to have the best sex without being effected first by all the negative things that can scar a person emotionally early in life. I really hope you believe me steros so that you can have a wonderful sexually-fullfiling awsome love life!

These are all questions that belong in DC.

If all drugs were legal, 98% of problems associated with them would disappear. First of all, stigmas would decline, so addicts and users wouldn't have to feel guilty and hide their drug use. Prisons would virtually empty by 90% or so, and the money the taxpayers pay to keep all those non-violent 'offenders' locked up could be spent on educating people about safe drug use, so if one chooses to try a drug, they know the risks and also know how to do it in the safest possible way. This education would greatly reduce overdose and drug related death. Not to mention all the money the government would make off of it, since they are the ones backing all the corporations that would be manufacturing and selling the drugs... Or just doing it themselves. Violence would go down, acceptance, money and knowledge would go up. I can't figure out why anyone in a high government position don't see it this way.
