Mental Health Legal Professional needing anxiety relief for 8 hrs daily - med suggestions?

Herbavore I've tried it all man! It didn't do anything for me hey, they symptoms are just too intense. I seems akin to 'The Secret' to me, telling myself something which isn't actually in the hope of tricking myself into believing it is true. By telling myself my anxiety is just a symptom of some deeper issue doesn't do shit for me, I've tried weeding through it all and nailing it all down but in the end the anxiety remains and perpetuates. The times of trying all these methods over a period of time and failing time and time again led me to feel really disenfranchised about the whole therapy thing. I'm sure it is great for some people, but for me I have some kind of brain physiological problem caused by roacutane or general genetic inheritance.
Thankyou kindly though for the the suggestion.

Hi OP, just wondering if your job itself might be the problem? In your first post you seem to confine your anxiety/social phobia to your professional environment. Maybe it's just not right for you? I know there are some jobs I just could not do...
On your response to herbavore - mindfulness is not The Secret lol. The secret is...a big load of wank, based on getting everything you want. Mindfulness is, basically being comfortable in your own skin - not needing to be anywhere else and accepting the current situation as it is, because, it couldn't be any other way.

Na it's not the job. I think the job has just highlighted it. I have had this condition for years and years and years. It caused me to stop playing professional sport and caused me to drop out of uni for a certain amount of time. It has been a cancerous condition that is now being shown to be what it truly is now that I am in full time career work. Time to knock this shit on the head I say lol
I got prescribed some propranolol today which should be interesting. So far Lyrica has been good in combination with small amounts of valium (15mg daily).
Yeh I dont know about all that mindfullness stuff hey, it;s just not for me, my anxiety is far to intense and corrosive for me to even think or concentrate, mine is malignant beast which has a strangehold lockjaw on my mind when it hits.

I find mindfulness and meditation difficult too. I can't relax enough to get into it. I've tried several times but to no avail.

You may want to try another doctor... It's evident that your current medication regiment is not working, so maybe another doctor would be more understanding and helpful.

The only thing that currently works for my anxiety is benzodiazepines, specifically alprazolam. I've been on that for years- trying to wean off, but that's a different story. The thing with alprazolam is the short half-life, so it's in and out of the body quickly so you may need to redose. Clonazepam lasts longer, so that may be better for you and reduce the chances of developing a nasty benzo habit. The chance is still there with ANY benzo, but obviously the lower of a dose you're taking, the less the chance of abuse, etc.

Just as my "disclaimer"- I'm not a doctor, I'm just speaking from experience, so of course consult with your docs first. But, I know how crippling anxiety is. I know what it's like to not get the relief, and I know what works for me after trying various things.
