La la la. Anyone here been? Worth going?

Don't want to post this on the Yank sub-forum as I'm more interested in the start to finish of the thing, including the epic journey to get there from lil ol' England.
 
Is that the one in Wales near Haye on Wye / Brecon ??

A workmate of mine went a few years ago and said the crowd there were very friendly. I think he went on his own, just chatting to random people. Its mainly folk type music i think. I should go as my Dad lives about 10 mins away, so i wouldnt even have to 'rough it' in a tent.

Was good back in the mid 90's though( Or so I heard)

The thought of driving around anyplace in Nevada with a trunkful of drugs does not appeal to me. May have worked for Hunter but I will give it a miss

I know some folks that go and love it.. but it's a rather epic journey to get there, and agreed, as it's in Nevada I'd be having a straight-edge time. And also it's pretty tough living in the desert for a week.

Am saving my money for Boom festival next year instead. Sunshine, hippies, psytrance and on-site drug testing facilities. 8)
 
When it first started it was great, just a lot of people from the SF area and some of the moontribers.
In the original days you could go on tribe.net and join "tribes" and arrange meetups and set up camps

Then Carl Fucking Cox waded in and it became way commercialised
Now Its no better than Coachella, full of wankers and posers
Plus the drugs were way better back in the day
Most of the ones in the mid/late 90's you would have no problem scoring pure liquid acid fresh from the bay area.

Now its full of cops and they also set up roadblocks as you leave the site, so the cunts can bust you as you head back to caifornia so if you go make sure you do all yer shit before you leave. even if it means your totally spangled
 
I can't do desert climates, so that has always discounted me from ever going to Burning Man. The other thing is the cost. For a festival that prides itself on "radical inclusion", it's pretty privileged. $400 per ticket plus having to pack in everything you need makes it unattainable for many. A couple of my friends have been to Burning Man and have shown me many awesome photos, but it still looks too harsh for me. That, and the hardcore Burners I've met are usually irritatingly aristocratic individuals from within that sub-culture.

I prefer festivals that include forest, mountain, river, or ocean.
 
got some BL mates who go plus people I know from the Irish festival who have being a few times and they love it, I don't belive there wankers or posers but ye I reckon there could be some there ok.

strange the way everything was always better years ago, today your saying it was better in the 90s and in 15 years some bloke will say it was better in 2013.

costs my mates around €5k for the festival, that's flights, trip to SF or vegas plus spends on a RV, food, drink, drugs etc.

would like to go but don't have that sort of spare cash to blow on a festival.

Washoe County issued 472 traffic violations citations in the area of Gerlach and Empire.

Now cos the pigs will just cite the "first" offense on their records you can bet your ass that a lot of these arrests then further led to charges which involved drug offenses, they only have to get you on a traffic offense first of all and record it, and then later they get you on the drugs ones
 
same over here for the Oxegen festival, cops would set up road blocks and search cars and buses, you even had customs set up check points and carry out searchs on cars coming down from Northern Ireland.

Exactly, these cunts are sneaky, cos this is a rural area when they ask for funding for elections its a bit shameful to say they have xxx amount of arrests involving drugs
So these cunts bypass that by arresting everyone first for some minor traffic violation.

Only problem is as everyone leaves the festival 99% are high or have some drugs on them. or have uninsured cars.
Thats how they get you.

Best thing I have heard is wait a few days after it finishes, camp out a few miles from the actual site( have a permit Obtained beforehand ) and the when the roadblocks are clear( or when your acid runs out) head back to CA

Just excercise some common sense and leave the festival 2 or 3 days before it ends so you can go to your drugfest camping site and avoid the cop roadblocks.( if you dont have permission to stay on site for a few days after it ends)

Just avoid the fuss, wait like 2 days and then take 15 to salt lake city and then 80 to nevada and then take that to sacremento and then 205.
Much better than going the short way and getting busted

Extra few hundred miles. much better than jail though

I cannot stress how hard the cops will crack down in the usa ! best not to have done ANYTHING , Have heard of cops waiting outside burning man and they just admin the regular blood test for coke, speed , etc
basically anything to get you for
If you fail it, even if its for THC , you will never get back into the usa again
I know badandwicked jokes about this but I know of people who cant get back in the usa cos of a positive thc test

Of course if thats the case you will still be busted, and Nevada Drug laws are way harsher than Cali so it might be a federal offense

Or else do you mean your going to come across and camp in Chula Vista as " Juan Hernandez" ? :)

Agree its a shithole, grew up there but apart from the weather and my 2 sisters and my father I miss nothing about the place

Actually I miss the weather and about 2 friends
