just found out today that I failed every module (only just though).

It wasn't the right course for me at all, there are people who really suit that sort of thing but I unfortunetly wasn't them, but it's still two years down the shitter with nothing to show for it.

I don't even know what the point of this thread is I know no ones particuarly interested but fuck it i'm drunk so why not.

That sucks mate :( Still waiting on my results. Silver lining and all that; at least you've got the opportunity to retrain and find something you wana do and are good at now, rather than 15 years down the line when you hate your job

Hey man. I failed every module multiple times in multiple degrees.

I thought I was just doing the wrong subjects/degrees, but finally after many years I realised wait.. no.. I am interested in all of these things. to the point where I teach myself. I simply cannot work within the framework expected at universities.

So its worth thinking about if it is uni in general that is not right for you, rather than just the subject matter.

If you do decide uni is for you, maybe a timeout is still a good idea. Get all the shit you want to do out of the way and go back when you actually have the urge to.

That's shitty mate, yeah like others have said, can you not do any re-sits or anything?

I'm regretting not going to uni at all, i guess i just wasn't in the right place at that period of my life.

Sorry to hear you're bad news mate, chin up though, you could be a 26 year old smack head with no idea what he wants to do with his life, like someone i know! ;)

Sorry you failed mate, but dnt take this as a set back, fate is what u make it! When u want to breathe as much as u want to succeed then u will be successful! I always find this notion to give me alot of motivation, n u cud be in alot worse situation, take this as a sign, a sign that better things were meant! Much love n dnt give up!

Sorry to hear that mate I know it's shit when you realised you've failed. Completely fucked up all my modules in first year so repeating it, luckily by complete chance a mate is also repeating and he has whipped me into shape and guilt trips me into doing work.

You said it wasn't the right course for you and that makes a massive difference, if you're doing it because it will look good on the cv and create job prospects it will be a lot harder to have any motivation to do work as you won't enjoy it. Find something you actually want to do and start over (I'm not sure what the situation will be with student finance here) but make sure it isn't a doss subject cos it really won't do you any favours later on. I'd also not recommend resitting the exams because if its the same as my uni the maximum mark you can get for resits is 40%.

Talk to your head of department, they get this situation a lot and usually have some good advice to give.

It's not two years with nothing to show for it - you'll have had some good times at Uni and learned a lot, academic and non-academic.

This is good advice. I'd suggest getting a job, giving it 5, 7, 10 years, and then studying for a degree that you're passionate about. Unless you already know what you really want to study, in which case go for it. And talk to your head of department, but I suppose bear in mind that they may be a bit biased towards their chosen subject. It'll all work out, don't worry. :)

Obviously wasn't meant to be . Seriously , i like to believe that things happen for a reason & maybe this is just a small part in the grand scheme of things .
In 10 years time when you have made loads of money & are really happy because you didn't follow the path that you originally thought was your calling it will all make sense .:)

Hey there,

Sorry to hear of this. Tenuously waiting on some results myself. If I fail any I WILL resit, although as someone above said you only get 50% tops....that is the passmark for these exams. What course were you doing?

Tenuously waiting on some results myself.

Hopefully English is not among them. Sorry, LOL etc, couldn't resist. Good luck to all those waiting, and....

to the OP: You haven't wasted two years, you've learned this wasn't for you and I hope you get another chance to take a swing at it, doing something more suitable. Don't despair, don't give up, plenty of people fuck up a course then find something they love, which loves them.

to acidtek: 26 is still well fucking young, and younger than a looooot of mature students I met at university. I've got ten years on you and I don't really know what I'm doing. Don't rule it out cos you're not 19.

Ha! No, thank fuck. Science based stuff here. Had 4 exams and I'm sure at least 1, probs 2 will need to be done again. I'm so confident, I've just booked flights back home for the summer....the return being booked for 2 days before the resits!

it's not that big a deal, so many people feel pressured to go to uni and end up doing courses they don't like. degree's don't even count for that much these days anyway, go out and earn some money then maybe do uni again later, but you might discover your fine without one anyway.

this is what we get for handing out student loans willy fucking nilly

Er...what do we get? Oh of course, nobody ever dropped out of higher education before student loans did they.

FWIW, I agree there's too many students and degrees have been devalued (not least by grade inflation).

aye.. willynilly

the one (okay, one of the few) routes smart working class kids had to pull themselves out the shit and its been completely shit on. now the only degrees people care about are those from those great proletariat bastions oxford and cambridge - and even there get a two/two, youre still fucked, oxbridge or no oxbridge.. ask my cousin
