Just munched a big bowl of not-kedgeree. Not-kedgeree is somewhat similar to kedgeree only not. Just loadsa onions, garlic and a Scotch Bonnet slowly sweated down to unctiousness with whatever spices were to hand then add mucho leftover rice and a tin of tuna. No eggs cos I have no eggs but would if I had any (8o). Not hardboiled though - more like egg-fried rice style o' thing. But had no eggs so didn't. Was bloody tasty - one of me fave tossed-together nomfests is not-kedgeree - but really could've done with some lemon juice or similar.

Oh I do love you sometimes <3 (Well, all the time, but now even more so). Been looking for summat to do with all my tuna, rice, spices and whatnots and totally forgot about this stuff. Mum used to make it all the time and I loved it. Defo has to have a boiled egg in there though. Gonna make me a big ol' pot of it tonight.

I wish I had the cooking skills of my housemate, the shit she makes is amazing. Only thing is it always takes like five hours and I dunno how she does it, I can't man that long staring at food without eating something. She made some sort of steamed bun thingy the other night, apparently they were great. I always miss what she makes unless she comes to wake me up. She's half Italian with a ridiculous knowledge of Chinese cooking, so she's like the ideal woman. Except mine obviously. Ahem.

I once made bagels from scratch. Would've been quicker to watch mountains form. Blimey they're a lotta faff. Not difficult so much as excessive. Boiled, baked and grilled. Palaver is not the word. Were tasty though.

Glad the not-kedgeree inspired ya to clear out the cupboards. Is ideal for such things. And delicious. Used to have it every weekend - with "proper" fish not just tinned tuna too 8o

Uncle Ben's is fukkin rancid and I'm a fan of jars - heathen =D

Sharwood's have some nice ones though. Their bhuna is bordering on divine <3

Currently munching a pepporoni pizza. Wiv added ham. And jalapeno cheddar. And chili sauce.

(and whilst i'm in mockery mood - i mean sauce wiv chillies in rather than tabasco which has none as far as i can tell)

=D;)<3

Well i do not underestimate your unique taste, but the benz is rancid :O suppose sharwoods is slightly worthy on rice

Jalapeno cheddar is one i do wish to try (maybe grated on top of some chilli con carnie)

Each to there own, i just like heat and it brightens up fast food like chips, cheese on toast etc :)

[Also just eaten some toad in the hole or how i name it ''frog in the pond'']

My photos always suck

Off set your dishes so they are not just side by side - (you could have removed the string) and take from a seated position. Take the photo as if it was already dished up to you - just looks more appealing (IMHO).

Don't try and show the full dish and focus on the bits that you think look really tasty.

Something like this ?

That is not a takeaway. It does appear to be a chicken though.

It is a takeaway, I just removed it from the paper and metal tray the stuff came in, to make it look nicer.

Thanks for the tips Bearlove, I might start taking better photos in the future. What you reckon, flash or no flash? And how close-up should I take the pic?

I would say never use a flash - and have the food under a decent light (don't stand between the light and the food though or you will cause a shadow :D).

If your into hot sauces get some endorphin rush / Blairs mega death etc delivered :D - only a couple of quid a bottle and you only need a few drops. I love spicy food and always have a stock of chili peppers :D

Pizza was home made (no surprise :D)

Really depends on what you think looks best.

Blimey, Bear. Your own foodpix are never short of amazing but making that chick 'n' spuds look tasty was truly a stroke of genius 8o

Not having a pop at the food cos I'm sure it tastes fine... but didn't look so appealing. I think I might send you my pix in future if I ever get around to taking some again - your processing skills are truly the maddest of mad skillz =D

Also, what kinda base do you make for pizza? Just out of interest. Always used to make me own pizzas but not done in years. Mostly just made a scone base for big family pizzas as a nipper but sometimes made yeasty ones.

Oh, and the chili sauce I mentioned does have some considerable kick. Not quite up there with Dave's Insanity Sauce but not one to go sloshing about willynilly without tolerance or you'll come a serious cropper 8o

My pizza base is a basic dough - large coffee mug and a half ish (or 370mg) of floor - I used a mixture of brown and white (I just used what I had left in two bags tbh).
Instant yeast - 7g's (ish). The packets are usually 11gs so I pour half out, then just under half again (easier to eyeball that way). Couple of glugs of olive oil and say about qtr a mug of warm water to form a dough (may need a bit more). Salt and pepper and a tble spoon of sugar.

Just give it a stir and see how it looks, if too dry add more water. It should clump together / form large lumps but not form a ball if you know what I mean? In the same bowl just squash it all together to form a ball of dough, give it a couple of turn and squashes and that's it. Lightly dust your oven tray with some floor and press the ball into the tray to fit. Add toppings and its ready in 20 mins :D

Thats the basic dough - but add some crushed chilly flakes, some paprika, some Oregano to the mix and it makes a massive difference.

I managed to posh up my takeaway chicken dinner, made an artichoke hearts, chestnuts and scaled parmesan salad with some olive oil, some garden tomatoes with basil and then added the chicken from the shop. Sauces are Encona papaya and Nando's peri peri.

Never seen Encona Papaya here :(

Like standard Encona though <3

That Nando's one ain't bad either. Although I've only ever seen a Nando's once. And didn't eat in it cos was just smoking a fag between trains. They seem to get mentioned a lot on tellybox so am assuming there's more than one.

Bear: Thanks :)

Got a massive 2kg tin of pizza sauce MamaSham gave me for no obvious reason sat in me cupboard so have been pondering making pizza bases. Although I doubt I could get through 2kg of tomato paste wiv "stuff" no matter how pissed :\
