I am looking to see what there is to expect coming off of 7.5 mg of hydrocodone. Been taking on average 2 to 3 pills a day for 4 years now. Was originally on 5.5 mg at first then went up to 7.5 then back down to 5.5 then back up to 7.5. Just wondering about what i am going to expect. Should i tapper off? and how long with the withdrawals last for? any good tips to make it easier? Any information would be very helpful thanks.

Withdrawals should be minimal, but you'll feel crappy for about 4 or 5 days. Stay hydrated and take some loperamide (Immodium). And maybe something to help you sleep. I'd stay away from otc sleep aids though, they can make you even more restless. Can you get a few Ambien or even Xanax? Thats a real small amount of hydrocodone. Were the pills even working after taking them for so long?

Yes they were still working. I forgot to mention i have fibromyalgia. Does anyone thing that would make a difference

Are you on Lyrica or gabapentin? Those generally make it easier to come off opioids. Having a neurological condition like fibromyalgia might make certain withdrawal syptoms more prevalent, like muscle aches and cramping, headaches, restlessness. Also expect some nausea, anxiety and insomnia. Still it should be a mild withdrawal.

Used to take lyrica but i was switched to cymbalta not to long ago. The lyrica just made me tired all the time. Slept most of the day when i was on lyrica.

I'm sure you will feel pretty unpleasant for 4-5 days during your withdrawal. Your doses aren't large by any means, but I believe when it comes to opiate withdrawal the length of time that you were using opiates has a greater effect on the degree of your withdrawals than the amount of opiates you were using. I would look at the opiate withdrawal megathread here on bluelight, it can be found using the search function at the top right of the page. Good luck. Make sure you eat nutritious and stay plenty hydrated. I also recommend taking a multivitamin often.

If you're worried about it maybe cut your doses in half for a week or two before you stop. Did you feel any different the time you dropped from 7.5's to 5's?

When they switched me down to 5.5 from 7.5 it didnt help with my pain. I only have 6 pills left though. Its going to had to taper with only that left

I see. I wouldn't worry too much about it. At worst it'll feel like the flu for a few days. If you cant deal with it, Immodium is your friend. Use the search engine for more info on loperamide. Good luck!

I don't know if you heard of "Nutriblast" which is like a high speed blender. Anyhow, I bought it for my boyfriend and they have drink recipes specifically to fight Fibromyalgia. You're probably eating healthy and all that but here's what they listed (the exact recipes are kind of long but if you want me to post them I can)

1. Apples, apple cider vinegar, pears, pineapple, grapes (contains malic acid)
2. Seeds, nuts, legumes, dark green vegetables like kale, collards, spinach, and broccoli (magnesium)
Magnesium + Malic acid combination is effective.
3. Almonds, flax seeds, soybeans, garbanzo beans, collard green, sunflower seeds (typtophan: amino acid used to manufacture melatonin)
4. Ginger, turmeric, flax seeds, chia seeds, avocado (fight inflammation)
5. Maca Root (stamina & fatigue)

Madcap86,

Taking only 15mg-21.5mg a day you shouldn’t feel too bad at all. Maybe like something is missing in your life, a little tired and if you still have chronic pain that will be increased a little also. Are you taking them throughout the day or all at once?

Maybe try cutting your last 6 pills in 1/2 and taking them 2-3 times a day until they are gone. You can also get some Kratom. It can be found at head shops, or on-line. I wouldn't think you'd need any more that 1g to maybe 2g a day at the most. Keep it to week or two at the most, as you don't want to get started up on that. Kava-Kava will also help for that something is missing feeling, restless, panic, etc. It can be found at the same places as Kratom, or even at health food stores.

Dagda Mochta - Were the pills even working after taking them for so long?

I took an average of 15mg - 20mg a day of Hydrocodone from 1983-2006 and it still worked for pain, etc. Not that often, but even 25mg - 30mg a day here and there. It was when I moved to Florida, found a pill mill (never heard of one before) and they started me on the Oxycodone like candy is when the low doses stopped working and the addiction kicked in!!! Before that when I didn't have any Hydrocodone about all I felt was a little tired and maybe just a little restless...no real WD to speak of.

As far as opiate habits go.. 7.5mg's of hydrocodone is almost non-existant. Your withdrawal should be nothing more than a few days of being slightly uncomfortable...

I guess I read it wrong...I thought he was taking 7.5mg x's 2 - 3 times a day...not just 7.5mg a day. Yeah, he should be ready to run a couple of marathons by the weekend. :)

^^he is takin 7.5s 2-3x/day

but im still with scags, he shouldnt have much to worry about

4 years is a long time but ~20mg isnt much to worry about

n imo the more you worry bout WD the more anxious you get, the worse it gets

so dont worry OP you'll be fine, shouldnt feel much imo

Yes they were still working. I forgot to mention i have fibromyalgia. Does anyone thing that would make a difference

fibro is nerve pain and opiates are usually not very effective at treating but are very good a causing this type of pain, wouldn't be surprised if your fibro goes away after detox and a month. good luck.

You will be fine on the detox, a little sick for a fewm days.. tapper will prolong.. a few pills of clonodin e will take car of any troubles you have.. good luck.
