I too was raised catholic but, I'm a practicing heathen. Was confirmed and the whole nine. It's pretty common around here. Most people are forced into it by their parents so that they can get married in the church. There's a lot of work in being a catholic unless you convert later in life, in which case you can do the whole thing in like a few fucking hours.

yea my mom was raised catholic and my dad was protestant, they wanted to get married in the catholic church so they did the whole oath of saying they were gonna raise me n my sister catholic

thank god they lied to the church cuz even tho i was raised pretty religious im glad i wasnt raised catholic

when i go up to Ohio at christmas time we always go to a catholic church for christmas eve mass, never really liked it much....well i never really liked church much period but aside from the beauty of the church itself its worse then what i was raised in IMO

I thought it was good to be catholic because you can buy your way to heaven after a few "our fathers and hail marys". I'm a practicing heretic.

^^ yea but the church i grew up in had a very "easy" view of gettin into heaven

i was always told as long as you except Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you will have a spot in Heaven

oh man i forgot you bostonians are hardcore about it. i would fit right in up there. im serious when i say this but i dont associate with a hole lot of non-catholics, they're weird

my religious views are my religious views. sure they are deep rooted in catholic practice but i dont necessarily align myself on a spiritual basis with catholics. a lot of them are really out there. like the church is the highest thing on earth etc...socially im catholic all the way, i think its that way for a lot of people...its just how i was raised....i went to a grade school that had a church...they had "mardis gras" parties and get shit faced in mascare and shit...there would be kegs lined up in the back after these things (when i was 18 me and my friends took 22 of them after the party and sold them back to the brewery...planned it and everything it was genius) anyway they had fucking casino night with real gambling and drinks and cocktail girls and shit i mean this is on saturday nights....it kind of freaked me out because my parents would come home FUCKED up i mean stumbling and fondling and shit and as i got older i figured out all my friends parents went too and it was like that for them too....but we would get up and go to church every sunday morning and pretend like nothing happened....it was so weird...so that what i equate my religion with....you can get fucked up as long as you pretend it didnt happen later and go to church the next day..... im rambling and tipsy...sorryl
 
i remember when i was like....20 i went to xmas ever mass on oxy and weed and felt so guilty...i havent really gone back since, i feel horrible walking into church these days which is a bad thing.

in 3rd grade we had nuns that would make sure we did our penance. i had to go to confession every fucking year from 1st grade to 12th grade. i think by 12th grade we just kinda went in there and bullshitted with him for awhile because the head preist usualy taught the seniors religion class...im definitely sending my kid to a catholic school that shit was a blast.









i want my child to be able to hob knob with social elitests and attend their childrens parties and fuck up their shit like i did....its only right.

coffee n donuts was the best part of church growing up, id go n take bathroom breaks during the sermon cuz it was the most boring part n i would just go n pork down a few donuts, yea i was a little fat shit skippin out on the lord to gorge myself on donuts :)


main reason my mom said she didnt want us to be catholic was cuz she did catholic school from grade 1-8. needless to say she hated it
 
Born & raised as a catholic and from a "Christian" point of view many regions are just corrupt versions of true Christianity including Catholicism.....I believe the Catholics, Mormons , Jehovah witnesses, Seventh-day Adventists are not true Christians no matter how much they claim to be...

I thought all religions perverted the word of god to fit their agenda. My favorite is when they tell you their religion is the only right one. I really dont care one way or the other. I k ow and have worked with very fanatical people. And 9 times out of ten when they started preaching to me I would question it and stump them. They would come back with a rebuttal after a day or to to try and prove me wrong. I got a kick out of doing that.
