have a feeling Walt really is all the way out. For now, at least. I imagine getting out of his contract with those guys wasn't too difficult (they were just some Arizona distributors, not cartel), once the main guy (Declan, i believe?) knew who he was ("Say my name"), he quit being aggressive with him and backed down.
I don't think he's out. I think he'll go back to living a secret life. It's not just those Arizona dudes(which IIRC it didn't say if they had a deal), but Madrigal and what seems to be the Aryan Brotherhood. It's hundreds of millions of dollars at stake. The last two have proven they do not give a fuck about killing. How do you think they'd react if he said,"Oh, forget about that multimillion deal, I quit. Todd the pest exterminator/thief/child killer will take it from here"?

Yes, but it is Walt who now inspires fear in others. His days of being intimidated by crime bosses is over, because he became the largest crime boss in the midwest. The point of the cold open at the beginning of Say My Name (let's call it the "Say my name" scene) is to show us that all these guys are scared of Walt now. When they uttered the name "Heisenberg," they backed the fuck off, because they knew that this was one of the few guys you don't mess with. If Walt is the boss of bosses, and he wants to quit, then he gets to quit.

The Aryans were only hired to do a job. They weren't coworkers, it was a simple murder-for-hire transaction.

They were ready to buy the methylamine as long as Walt wasn't going to be selling at first, before Walt paired up with them, so I think that he can leave since they can go back to using their previous cook (or even Todd if he can handle it) since they wouldn't have to worry about competing with the superior blue meth. I don't know how easy it would be to walk away from the overseas business through Lydia though, but if the other cooks can make anything above 60% pure then they could fill in I guess.

I think it's safe to assume that he will have enemies outside of law enforcement. How much good would an M60 machine gun do you against a nation of cops?

Walt Jr.'s boring, lame interview

I call bullshit. There's no way Walt Jr. got through that interview without stuttering like crazy.

Sorry, I really just don't like his character... his stutter isn't his fault

lol at the image of Walt Jr. riding a motorcycle.

Probably the biggest miscalculation of the show. He worked great in the first season as a reason Walt absolutely needed to leave his family with something, since it is apparent that Walt Jr. isn't going to be able to provide for a family without attending college first. But then, they were just kind of stuck with him. Boring character, but I do like the contrast to Jesse, who Walt at times in the series has loved more, simply because Jesse is interesting despite his flaws while his son is the boring, perfect, generally obedient kid.

I fucking love the music in this series. Chrystal Blue Persuasion was an awesome (and painfully obvious) choice for this show. Tommy James and the Shondells are fucking great. But overall, it's incredible to me how well they have chosen their music, from several different genres without a cliche choice yet. One of the more underrated aspects of the show, IMO.

From the Finale, I find it hard to imagine how he gets to the Denny's with the M60. He seems like he really is out, with some ridiculous sum of money piled in a storage warehouse and the cancer likely on the return, with no apparent enemies at the moment besides his brother-in-law, who I believe he has by the balls anyways. I wonder what pulls him back into the underworld and who the final antagonist is going to be. Next year I suppose...

That whole idea seems crazy to me. I admittedly do not know much about guns, but I would think a smaller gun and some training would be more effective for defense than one giant gun.

Walt Jr's interview was electrifying. What a dynamic actor/character he is (sarcasm in full force)

On a serious note: It would be interesting if he does turn to meth (Walt Jr) or gets mixed in the crossfire of his fathers wrongdoings...I choose the latter of the two. I can't picture Walt Jr. succumbing to meth - seems too far fetched.

Cheers

The writers showed a lot of confidence when they put that flash-forward into the beginning of the season. It's like yea, we don't even need you to have to wonder if Walt gets killed over the next few episodes and will actually show him alive a year from now because the show is that good that we will have enough things for you to think about over the first half of the last season that the possibility of Walt being killed during that time doesn't have to be one of them.

I'm not sure if the montage will be taken down from youtube or not, but I enjoyed it a lot so figured I would post it here in hopes that it stays up.

Although the pace of them is very different, that montage reminded me of this one from Blow.

Did anyone else think of it when they saw the montage on BB?

Walt's a pretty pragmatic guy, I don't see him going down in the "Scarface" fashion (even though the we saw Walt watching the film). I would think he got the M60 for some kind of specific situation/showdown. Usually you'd use an M60 from a stationary position, putting out a high volume of fire. I'm having some fun trying to imagine this scenario.

I don't really understand why people are obsessing over this so much. Yes, Walt is obviously going to encounter some kind of resistance; we all know this. So, they flash forwarded to a scene with him hiding an M60. It makes sense...I didn't think that flash forward was that thought provoking.

Considering Walt's previous weapons...chemicals, poison beans (ricin), poison plants, home-made explosives, his car, etc. the M60 seems like a big step forward.

i mean even though it's called a light machine gun (which basically just means that a single person can operate/carry it) it's a hugely impractical weapon and sets up all kinds of implications for what he might need it. ít would be very out of character for him to go, "give me the biggest fuck-off gun you got" without taking that into consideration.

^thats what im thinking. Like i cant really see some big showdown with walt throwing hundreds of rounds of lead at the DEA, but that gun is meant for one thing. throwing hundreds of rounds of lead and fast. He has to have a very specific reason to get that gun. like was said above, hes pragmatic. his choice of modes for dispatch have been completely varied over the past few seasons, guns, poisoin, bombs, a steel shank bicycle lock (brutal way to go being choked out like that)

If he wanted a big gun he should have gone with this bad boy...

anzio iron works 20mm rifle. thats a 50bmg barett next to it lol....

I've noticed they haven't used the word 'scante' since season one. That's that real issue that needs to be discussed.

also AmorRoark's avatar is really rustling my jimmies right now.

why does that piece of artillery look like an imac? was it designed to be employed in the arctic circles?

but yeah, i agree, if it had been a submachine gun or assault rifle it would've been a lot more ambiguous, however a M60 is something - and this just might be me interpreting too much into it - he had to have a very specific use for in mind. very much like buying a barrett m82 come to think of it.
