So im wondering peoples opinions on the matter if you've used both or just the iphone

Ive had the droid x2 for about the last year but am due for an upgrade in a couple months and am thinking about switching to the iphone when the time comes

The droid has given me a couple problems including freezing sometimes when using youtube, posting on sites like this is a huuuuuge pain, its hard ti explain but sometimes when im typing my posts its set up in a way where i sometimes can bareky see the part where im typing , sometimes i cant see it at all. Also if i made a mistakr and want to navigate to that lart of the field of text its a huge pain , sometimes to the point where its too much trouble to even bother. And finally sometimes it sends text messages to the wrong person even though im 100% sure i selected the right persob ti send it to

I mean sometimes itll be in the middle of a comvo with pre existing sent/received texts to that person and the one of the messages just goes to the wromg person

Oh and the battery is fucking terrible, if listening to music, especially on youtube, you can kiss your battery goodbye after just a few hours

Anyway so im wondering if anyone has the newest iphone whatever that is and if its better and doesnt have those problems?

latest iPhone is fast for sure but AFAIK battery life isn't much better, if at all. I just got into Android a few days ago and one thing I noticed that is really a PITA is that it automatically keeps apps running in the background after exiting them. This eats up precious RAM like a motherfucker and is what causes slow webpage loading. Browsers rely on RAM, so it can hardly do the job well if there is less than 20MB free because a bunch of apps you aren't even looking at are running processes in the background for no good reason.

what do you expect? you have your phone radio on full-time. listening to streaming music across a wireless connection for more than a few hours seems like an unreasonable expectation with today's technology. a few hours of that sounds pretty good to me. why not download music to your phone and listen to it that way? if the radio is not on, you'll get significantly better battery life.

on my iphone 3gs, i'm told i can use 3g internet for 5 hours on a full charge but i can listen to audio for 30 hours on a full charge.

I have a Galaxy Infuse 4G Android and I like it a lot, but as others have mentioned it is resource-intensive and battery life is really limited. I get maybe 2-3 hours of heavy use before it starts complaining it needs to be charged. Also GPS is spotty at best, much better on the Windows phones.

My old Blackberry Pearl would run for days and days on a single charge.

I've owned both iphones and Androids. For my use I prefer the android. I mostly surf the web and watch media on my phone and rarely use my phone as a phone. I basically use it like a tablet.

The iPhone is superior for phone calls, typing and it just looks prettier.
But for my use I'd say android all the way.

Iphones cant open pdfs (or is it adobe? one or the other, im not sure). Iphones are better compatible with mac computers for synching. There is more diversity amongst android phones than iphones, bigger selection to choose from. If you prefer a larger screen (which is more in now since everyone is watching videos, web surfing, pictures, games, reading, etc on their phone) than androids the way to go bc u can choose a phone with a larger screen. As far as keyboards go, its easier to type using the iphone BUT the droid lets you choose from an option of keyboards and u can pick the best one for you. Newer androids are 4g while newer iphones are 4s but 4G out performs 4s making the droid a faster phone. I think the droid is the best option, Apple is good but soo overrated. People see everyone raving about the iphone so they buy it without comparing it first. If you put them side by side i think the benefits of the droid outweighs the benefits of the iphone. Either way theyre both great phones, top of the line, so you cant go wrong

one thing i really dislike about the droid -- the main thing i'm thinking about switching -- is the way the browser works sometimes. for example on a site like this when you go to type in a field sometimes the screen will move to where you can't even see what you're typing lol. also I have to clear the cache on the keyboard every so often and if you don't it gets to where it starts going incrediibly slow... can anyone with an iphone say if it has these problems or not?

I think the quality of the Android phone depends on the hardware maker. Motorola is the only Android phone I would buy. The quality and design matches or exceeds the iphone. I have a Droid 2 and my girlfriend has a RAZR HD. both phones are well designed (mine especially for having a 3.5" screen and full qwerty keyboard. The RAZR is also gorgeous, but I need a tactile keyboard. My old iphone 3g was cool, and a great piece of hardware, but some of the apple ui doesn't sit well with me and the android is more easily customized. It also has more programs (applications?) that I use. I think it comes down to the android feeling more like a small computer, and the iphone feeling more limited and maybe focused in scope.
Comparing speed... The android is incredibly fast. I don't find that it lags behind the iphone at all, and the ease of navigation means I find things faster. The browser can be glitchy, but there are many great free browsers for the android platform. The iphone browser is not usually glitchy, but nor is the android for the most part. Apple does have other quirks though. All hardware will.
I have dropped my Motorola from 3-4 feet onto concrete multiple times, dropped it in snow, etc, etc, and it has not broken yet. I got the droid when i dropped the iphone and the screen shattered, so the motorola has that going for it.

I think it comes down to your internet preferences. My work uses google docs, google calendar, google email, etc, and the android integrates so seamlessly with google cloud based services. Also, the full keyboard seals it for me.

LG and HTC phones are garbage. Samsungs are just ugly and come pre-loaded with a bunch of ugly widgets and whatnot. So, iphone or motorola.
