About 2 months ago i decided that the meaning of everything lies in this moment - right now, not yesterday, not tomorrow, not next year. Right now is what is important. But what is right now exactly?

Zen. "Now" is what you make of it, either it being good or bad is your decision. Since were all able to manifest things with our minds is VERY scary.

Now is where you are when you are dancing, surfing, playing music, making love, riding a roller coaster, anything that keeps you fully here and present and not thinking about the past or the future.

Now is your current experience. That's it.

If you are questioning what now is, then you are broaching the knowledge that this whole "reality" is just one big illusion, a.k.a samsara.

However, of all the intangible things, "now" is the most tangible, as it is the only thing you can interact with and impact.

If this doesn't make sense to you, then you need to get out of your head and connect with your body, because your body lives concretely in the now.

Now is this breath. In, out, in, out. Now is an infinitesimal amount of time. Now is the limit as delta t approaches zero.

"I can only note that the past is beautiful because one never realises an emotion at the time. It expands later, and thus we don't have complete emotions about the present, only about the past." - Virginia Woolf

if the present moment is what you decide to be the meaning of everything, then perhaps "right now" is something you should also define for yourself. As well as how that decision will benefit this 'everything'. :)

mydoorsareopened - thats almost what i was looking for. i like it. who'd u quote that from?
foreigner - i may have at one point doubted my reality but im not at that point anymore. im at this point to be exact and im trying to find a concrete definition for now so i can dissect it philosophically like you would with the concept of justice.
jam uh weezy - i do plan to define it eventually. its kinda like learning to speak, you have someone else give a word a meaning and after you've learned to use the word u then give it your own meaning. I need u guys to give it a meaning first...
tetra - i <3 zenness

edit:now is a point in time in which our minds are always interacting with. i dont like the word time though because its not real, its just a tool for referencing. Now is this moment as it's experienced consciously. Is there a now if we are unconscious? Do we need perspective to have a moment? What if we are dreaming is there a "now"? Now is just our brain registering information. As we dream that is also Now. Now is a never ending cycle of consciousness. I'll come back to this thread later and continue when im not so tired.

now is now. Don`t dwell on it. Living in the past isn`t ok.

It`s more to learn from the past and prepare for the future. Now is the time to do both.

I just made that up...

"Now" is the membrane at which the world within presses against the world without. +
"now" is a never ending cycle of consciousness.

okay so what is consciousness?

awareness, yes but of what - the world within and the world without? whatever world our brains deem as reality? if we are dreaming are we "conscious"? reality is such a loose term, i hate it. maybe consciousness is just a never ending cycle of now? whatever reality we're in is irrelevant i s'pose
