Hello TDS! :)

I've found myself feeling better everyday when I start to set goals for myself. Big or small, I have found it to be extremely motivating and at the end of the day I feel accomplished. This has helped my well being very much, and I feel like I have been making my life more worthwhile.

So tell me, what is your goal for today?

My goal is to get a job, I'm going to go sweet talk the manager of a Dairy Queen into letting me apply even though I technically can't for another 2 months due to my age. So today I'm going to mentally prepare myself.

well i hope to take out the trash and get a job. i am currently deciding on where i should start my job hunt... online or in person. the hermit in me says "stay inside! you'll be ssafe" but the other part says go out and tackle the world.... im conflicted. guess i'll take out the trash then.

Wait your 15? Or 17?

My Goal is to do a good work out today. I am going to the Y and what to be able to do at least 50 push ups in one set :)

How old do you have to be to work in the US badfish? In Australia it's 14 and 9 months - sounds like it might be a bit later there.

Good luck with it :)

This is a great purpose for a thread, badfish - KUDOS:) Also, you're 17??? If so, you are very articulate and come across quite clear-headed for that age. You have a bright future, I'd say.

My goal today is to not use any cocaine or heroin in any shape, way, or form. Having just found and done the last hit I put aside I'm where I need to be to make a clean break. Also, I'd like to do some cleaning, write in my journal, try to produce even just a scrap of poetry or creative writing or play guitar, ride my bike, and make a post concerning my moral foibles.

Depending on how things go, a future goal may be seeing the doc for a script to stay off the junk, particularly. But I really wanna try w/o suboxone, even though I've been trying and failing for a month.

Awesome thread Badfish I love the idea.

Today I am going to put in at least an hour into looking for a new job.
Get out of the house for a drive.
Measure for supplies to build a larger garden.

get to the gym, garden out there in the overwhelming spring abundance and feel good about whatever I get done. :)

To everyone - I'm 15. The legal working age is 16 but I have a workers permit. However most jobs don't like to hire 15 year olds. They all assume we're a bunch of screw ups.

@ Bloop - Both! Applying online is very efficient but going outside is a great goal as well :)

@Lars - I've been working on that as well, I've started takin jogs in the morning rated than smoking weed :)

@ocean - good luck! sounds like you've got a busy day ahead of you

@ mother- that's an amazing goal, I'm proud of you :) you should try to make it a goal to stay clean at least once a week and see where it can take for you from there :D

@stardust - good luck applying!

To everyone out there on the job hunt, you have my sympathy. I've been there and know how hard it is to remain motivated when it seems like the deck is stacked against you. I think it's very important to not be too picky at this stage, as having any job will put you in a much better place when applying for the jobs you really do want. If you spin it correctly, employers love to hear about how the job you're working right now is strengthening your work ethic because it's teaching you how to make the best of less-favourable job conditions and all of that. People who seem to be holding out for the perfect job, though romantic in a sense, are also ones who are more likely to quit when the job turns out different than they expected, and this means more risk for a boss.

@badfish - This might sound silly, but have you looked into delivering newspapers? I know it's becoming a bit dated, but I did this in my teens and made a killing. The trick is to deliver to areas densely populated by senior citizens (especially apartment complexes). I don't even want to go into how much money I made doing this when I was still 14 or 15.

My goals for today...I want to run 5k outside, instead of on the treadmill, and then have a good session with the weights. And maybe test the power cable on one of my laptops. The computer is physically damaged and I am too scared to try seeing if I can get it to power up, since the longer I don't do this test the longer the hope lives, right? :\

Ok, I'll write my goals for tomorrow now:

- Starting with sports again, at least half an hour of jogging. I feel really uncomfortable and tired right now, thats when I know I have to exercise to get well again.

- Hopefully get a positive result for my application. I know I can't influence this anymore but it would be great. However, my goal is to take it as it comes.

- Clean my room and do the laundry

- Convince my addiction therapist that it is not necessary to hand in a medical certificate for my absence last week and that I don't need to attend the group til the end of the month. I am quite oversupplied with therapy right now and sitting there two hours every thursday without a purpose is a pain in the ass.

I love this thread idea!

My goals for tomorrow (since today is all but done for me):
  • Fully plan out my first day at the collaborator's lab, so that when I hear that the instrument's free I can run over at a moment's notice.
  • Complete a quick, but intense, chest and arms workout - INCLUDING STRETCHING DAMNIT - at lunch.
  • Get a flute practise session in, for once.
  • Finish making the Raw pizza, that has been taking all bloody week to make!

So I succeeded. I went in to talk to the manager and he said the position had been filled but gave me an application anyway. As I was walking to my car he came running out of the store and told me he might need a new person soon and to give the application to him tomorrow! I'm really excited this is my first job if I end up getting it =D

<sorry dude, can't talk about that here, no triggering content please - n3o>
I saw a dog and though it ran away because I coulnt see the owner. But obiously thats what dogs do run out way further than the owner and then wait on him very now and them. So I tryed catching the dog and then sudently the owner apeared and he asked what Iw as trying to do and I did my best to say "is this your dog?" but he looked stange at me and I decided just to run further.

So are you 15 or 17 ?
