Does anyone know anyone who is enlightened/ awakened?

If Eckhart Tolle is bringing millions of people to the experience as Jim Carrey more or less put it, then why aren't there people everywhere talking about it?

enlightened people have the least to talk about, that's why they are enlightened. 0_o it's not like an mmorpg levelling up.

theoretically speaking, that is.

Tolle and Chopra lack the spiritual presence to convince people on a large scale. They may have seen through the illusion but lack the necessary spiritual muscle to have any great public impact.. that and the lack of simplicity, they are both very interested in and caught by money. Osho, another frequently mentioned "enlightened man", was also caught by money.. along with drugs and sex. "Know them by their fruits" as Jesus said is as relevant today as it was in his time. People see right through this kind of two faced approach to spirituality, and sadly also are not capable of recognizing the quiet humble man who also has seen through the illusion.

Two examples of enlightened men who did have the presence and muscle: Ramama Maharshi, and Richard Rose. One from the East, the other from the USA. Both experienced Sahaja Samadhi, the highest experience for a human being, effectively dying whilst alive.

For the most part people don't want to hear what they have to say. "Only those who have ears can hear..". People WANT to play their games and make believe. No one wants to hear the Truth about, let alone reach for, their own existence. People tend to only care when it benefits them in some way or enhances their own games. That is why visualizing meditation and all this other fluffy spiritual rubbish is prevailing over the serious practice that results in real results.. people don't want to surrender their games. They will pay for guidance and books that sooth the mind instead of trying to kill it.

To get the Truth you don't move towards it. You retreat backwards into it. Enlightenment is about deconstruction, peeling away the layers, not adding more.

^ is that only a spontaneous occurence, and if so what about those who are slow to crawl out of bed?

is the term for that Bodhisattva?
yes, people do want to play and defend their games.

Like lightning it can strike anyone, however the odds are low.. what a person must do is make themselves more attractive for lightning to strike. Maharshi's initial experience happened by accident, or perhaps he was predisposed neurologically somehow, but Rose's experience was the result of years of philosophical digging and aesthetic practice (he was celibate for several years).

several months ago, i had a vision (lucy) where i was lightning, connecting a sun above me and a moon below me...

since then, i've been in a deeply personal, unceasing process of growth.

i would say that i am wide awake.

my meditations have produced results that startle even me. but it's much too personal to go into.

why do i talk about it? maybe i can be stupid at times, and i should be silent... but i do feel like our personal experiences are somehow connected to our collective experiences in profound ways, that i and others are on an important path of mystical development. it's irrational, but it works for the planet and i.

what the hell would celibacy - denial of one of the most basic activities of living beings - have to do with achieving enlightenment?

we tend to misidentify and underestimate how our "libido" channels through our motivations, thoughts, and feelings.

it depends on the person. i don't think celibacy is necessary for "enlightenment".

Nice, I've had a few reoccurring visions, one is similar where I am orbiting the earths atmosphere glowing bright white, and can feel a strong sense of comfort and excitement, until eventually a beam of thick white light almost the size of my abdomen crashes into me and begins filling me passing by to the earth.....

Silence is far more difficult to sustain for women then men, and there are many benefits that come while practicing this,
for men, celibacy is dangerous especially if after the body becomes accustomed to producing semen.
ew.

The sage leads by following. Instructs by being silent and is made exuberant by staying subtle and out of the spot light.

I think Deepak is a very healthy happy man and feel that his contribution to the world is positive I don't think he is enlightened though. The only person I've ever known of that is living that I would consider enlightened is his holiness the Dalai Lama.

I forget what it's called but it has to do with the levels of conscious awakening and how they correspond to chakras and out of body meditation. I accidentally before I had ever heared of OBE achived the second highest state and have been approached a few times by separate reiki practitioners who'm I've never met who have just oogled me and then remarked how strong my energies are and how focused and pure they are. incorporating this knowledge int my personal understanding of myself as probably one of the most primal people you could meet my final summation is that most if not all enlightenment shit is exactly that.

Being alive is the awakeness. Right now this is awakeness typing on a computer, this is awakeness breathing and smiling, this is awakeness considering what another person is saying, etc. The idea that you are asleep until you are 'awakened' by some philosophy is garbage.

There is no spiritual ladder. People who are so hooked on the idea of transcending will eventually realize that they will have to come back down to earth, and still live here like everyone else. It's called post-transcendant spirituality. It's realizing that there is no "higher" or "lower" spirituality, it's all One. You don't go up or down, you stay where you are your entire life, because you were never asleep. Something in you has not changed since the day you were born, even as you grew up and changed physical form, learned and developed new ideas. That subtle presence holds the truth - it never changes. There is nothing you have to do to appease it or be worthy of it. It does not progress or regress. It just is. This is the awakeness - the love, the connection - that you always are, unconditionally.

There is nothing you have to do to earn the connection. There is no middle man. The connection is right now. This moment is as good as it gets. The only thing that makes you forget is the illusion of separation, created by your own temporary ego thinking that it is individual and separate from the rest of the universe. Once you realize this illusion, you'll realize you were always connected. And this subtle presence in you, it is the same in everything else - in humans, animals, and everything else in the universe. It is the Oneness that is you. This is not the "you" that will analyze and try to explain it away; it's not the "you" that identifies as a me/I/self that will try to write it off because it tenaciously clammers for ownership of its own self-identified reality; it's the real YOU, underneath the mask of this current drama, that makes no demand to be heard. It is peace and stillness eternal.

Don't listen to the middle men and never give them your money. Anyone who is the real deal that has something to teach you will never charge you money. Paying to be awakened is one of the biggest oxymorons I have ever heard of. You are already awake - there can only be awakeness.
