^ Imo, it would be a bad idea. I know when I was in psychotic states summat like that could easily have sent me stabby one way or t'other. One of those things that sounds like a laugh, should be a laugh, but could easily end up a bloody mess :|

Very much depends on where you live I'd say. Was years (well over a decade) before pain specialists were even mentioned as an option to me. Even when they were it took months for an initial appointment and a couple years before any type of decision was made beyond the opiates + benzos scripts my GP has been dishing out since my late teens. Turned out mindfulness was the answer... apparently. Obviously it wasn't but seems to be the way the NHS is going these days - no consequence for the service, no use for the patient. Gotta <3 overreactions to unrelated overseas issues of overprescriptions :\

Personally I'm a big believer in a little of what you fancy does you good. I function just fine when opiated. I barely function at all when not opiated. I function extremely well in very broken ways when over-opiated. I suspect this applies to many.

I have asked, got one, but unfortunately my old man misread the names of two rather similarly named local hospitals, and I ended up at the wrong one (I can't drive, seizures), did go to the other after, but they wouldn't see me. Got my doc to re-refer me, but I am still waiting, I've been waiting a long damn time, think I'm going to ask again.

Referrals to specialists, barring acute injury where there has to be followup, like the eye burn I had a while back, referrals seem to be pot luck.

Got a letter from a neurologist saying, 'sorry you've been waiting so long, if you wish to cancel, ring this number, otherwise please keep waiting'

I've been waiting all bloody year!
 
are you guys into music? like fanatical about most genres (besides electronic music, I don't disregard it or judge it but I personally was never into it ) . hip hop was always the main genre I listened to (mainly stuff which was published between 86-2004/5) but I love sitting around on some opioid smoking weed and listening the whole day to jazz, funk or psych rock. sometimes I do it to dig for samples like some piano chords, a sax solo or something. I know that everybody listens to music but I'm reffering towards more obsessive patterns of listening rather than the usually 5-10 songs per day which is the choice when it comes down to "regular" folks.
 
i'm massively into punk rock. skate punk, melodic hardcore, hardcore punk, and going soft now listening to folk punk.

i don't believe that people who listen to 'a little bit of everything' like music the way i do. there was a golden age when i knew every touring punk band in the UK, and could sing along to a lot of their songs at shows. you simply can't do that for every band in the country.

discovering punk made me feel like i had a home in this world after all and i've listened to it exclusively for 18 years. except if i'm going to a rave in which case drum and bass and jungle.
 
i try to listen to current bands cos i don't see the point in listening to bands i can't watch live when there's shitloads of awesome bands i can watch live and it really helps to know the songs. in the aforementioned golden age i only listened to UK bands cos even US bands hardly ever come over, given it has to be self funded really.

its not that i don't like older bands, ffs my favourite albums are 20 years old (though strike anywhere played loads off change is a sound last year so i can still see those songs played), though i do tend to prefer some of the later evolutions. misfits excepted.
 
What about bands you already like, or good bands that CAN'T come and tour?

Like say, nevermore (Loomis left, Warrell Dane died of a heart attack, and a former guitarist died of ALS), they'd gone on hiatus, but were in talks to get back together, but then that happened, and with Dane dead, just put an end to it as a possibility. Shitty for them and shitty in general. Jeff Loomis, now there is a guitarist. Love the 7-string sound nevermore often uses, and fuck ME can Loomis shred like a motherfucker.

Fuck!!! The result of the nerve damage in my left foot and having no feeling there at the moment is I've just caught my toe in the door and have just chopped the end of my big toe off (seriously).. didn't even feel a thing.

I'll take a pic but put it in NSFW tags for the squeamish..

Did not feel a fucking thing. Was thinking of going to A&E but can't be arsed... they'd do nothing about it and I'm really tired too (and it's a Saturday and I don't feel like getting a taxi there and back in the freezing cold to sit there for 4 hours amongst all the piss heads)
 
ouch.... surely if the hospital isn't an option I would have thought that you more than anyone might have the bits, bobs and skills to dress it decently until you can see your own doc?
 
Aye, that needs attention, lest it end up asomething worse, a bacterial infection could get quite severe before you realize, due to the neuropathy.

Yeah i went in the bath to clean all the bits of sock and stuff out then cleaned it with antiseptic and put waterproof dressing on. I've got to him to the biomechanics place tomorrow anyway so might show them.... there's just no way I'm making the trip to hospital on a weekend for then to do no more than I can do myself.. the worrying part was I literally felt nothing... not a thing. I thought I saw bone but think I was mistaken.

Fuckin fuck man!! How the hell did you manage to do that with a door? My advice to you pal is to wear steel toe capped boots at all times..!

Honest truth mate I dont even know. Bare feet I guess..

The truth is though that I'm speculating that's what happened, I don't even remember doing it as I can't feel a thing in that foot. Jamming my foot in the door is the only thing I can REMEMEBER doing that would have caused it..

My first thought was that maybe I'd burnt it when I was heating my tootsies up next to the halogen heater in my bedroom but it doesn't look like a burn does it? It looks like a clean cut almost if done by a sharp blade.

Will take bets and open a book on most likely causes though tbh. :)
 
uh that seems like an ugly wound and the fact that you did not feel it is even worse, is your leg paralyzed if I may ask? I used to hang out with a gay paralyzed dude years ago, half of his body was paralyzed so he couldn't use his left arm and leg very well but I saw him this summer and with a lot of kinetoteraphy, it may be called kinesiotherapy in other countries, and recovery beside patience he does pretty good, he still can't cook himself very complicated dishes but he seems better for sure. I wish you will recover well too and take care of yourself !

My left foot is paralysed but my legs are fine, my right foot isn't paralysed but has severe nerve damage and pain...

Walking is very difficult and cos the left foot is paralysed and can't flex upwards, therefore the tendons in my calf are shortening... imagine trying to walk with your right foot normal and your left foot with no movement it in but the tendons shortening so your on your balls of your foot.

I've got an important appointment tomorrow at hospital to see what they can do.

I'm actually thinking of having it amputated and a prosthetic instead as that would be easier.... don't know how feasable that will be though...

I've got a very long road ahead... this cutting the end if the toe off is a drop in the ocean compared to what I've been through..

Broke ankle parachuting, bullet & shrapnel wound and then falling of ladders...all damaging the same place.

I'll get through it though....and thanks for the kind words man
 
Did you manage to find the bit that was severed? That might provide some clue as to what happened.

No I didn't.. (although TBH I haven't really searched the place).

The wierd thing was that there was a very small patch of charred skin on the next toe along which made me think I'd burned it but to burn the end of your tow off, you'd smell it burning...and it wouldn't be a clean cut like that.
